I like the story of the assassin's creed sires. Seriously, if you look into the glyphs in the second game, it can give the Davinci code a run for it's money when it come to working conspiracies into world history.

The Legacy of Kain series has probably the best storyline of all time, in my opinion.
VAE VICTUS!

THANKYOU! I agree, also I've never even met someone else who has played them!

Really? I've played through the second Blood Omen, both Soul Reaver games, AND Defiance, yet to this day I can't understand what is it so special about them. To me, the Legacy of Kain series has always been the most overrated of the underrated, if that makes sense.

OT: Silent Hill 2, Bioshock, Knights of The Old Republic 1 and 2.

Soul Reaver, it had me in tears in the end. I have never been so moved by a storyline as this one where i wished it would have a 2nd ending, even if you have to jump thru some retardly impossible hoops to make it work.

Another simply overlooked storyline is the one that goes along with Starcraft and starcraft:broodwar. If you actually took the time to watch and enjoy all the bits of story its pretty solid, yes even the bits of storyline ingame.

Final Fantasy Tactics has one of the best stories I have ever seen in a game and its remake the war of the lions had translated it much better making it all the more epic! awesome game + epic story = WIN!

What's great about them is the uniqueness, the fantastic voice acting, the amazing dialogue, the complex and often deceitful storyline, and the depth of the characters. There are no shallow, obvious characters in LoK. There is no poor voice acting, no predictability, no bad lines, and no straight forward plot. There is nothing generic about the world it is set in or the path that it follows.

The hereos are people I would not want securing my future, because they are selfish, vengeful, manipulative, and sometimes gullible, bastards, and I absolutely love them for it. They act like real people, not what hereos (or anti-hereos in this case) are stereotyped as. They all follow their own agenda, and yet at the same time, have their moments of surprising and yet realistic behaviour.

That is why I love LoK; not because of the gameplay, but because of the way it is written and the way it is presented.

Fair enough.
My initial reply was to your statement that people who haven't played the LoK series don't know what they're missing. Why I have played them, and I found the story in these games to be convoluted, the mythos uninteresting, and the voice acting, while good, to be otherwise hammy.
My point is that, to you, the series might be a masterpiece unlike no other, but that doesn't mean that everyone who'll play, say, Soul Reaver, will suddenly have an epiphany.
