The Yeti in Ski Free used to terrify me.

I mean look at him!

He's made of concentrated terror!

Not really a trauma, but once while playing X-COM: Terror From the Deep, I had just finished clearing out a large UFO, or at least I thought I did. I carelessly walked one of my Aquanauts around a corner when suddenly an Alien lurking in shadow used its saved action points and took him out with a shot in the back. The *piuuung* of the alien weapon discharging followed by the agonizing scream of the dying trooper almost kicked me out of my chair.

That and the original Aliens vs. Predator. AvP is the only game ever where I have needed to take breaks from in order to calm my nerves down. I still never finished playing the Marine campaign.

When I was young, I could never play MediEvil II because the first zombies you fight always scared me too much.

Lots of stuff with my next door neighbours. There was the entirety of the first Fatal Frame. It's was all going alright with the 3 of us until the ***** came out of the mirror, then a lone ball rolled down some stairs and we just freaked. Got into the 2nd game as far as when a woman crawls out of a box...

I hated when my sister played Rings of Power and the 'you died' face came up.

Oh and all of Croc.

EDIT: And the Oddworld games.... fucking Scrabs... and Fleeches... and Paramites... and everything.

I have a friend when who freeks out when he hears the Sonic Drowning theme. Apperntly as a kid he used to run out the room and hide in the bathroom crying as soon as Sonic started to lose his breath and the music started lol He gets put off by the music to this day, which i play constantly when he is trying to concentrate.

Also my ex girlfriend had a panic attack while watching me and a mate on Cod4, apperntly the gun shots and action triggered it off and we stoppe dplaying and went to sleep (where she woke up to have several more Panics). But we were all very very drunk and it was last.

Myself, erm.. well i have nightmares rarley after playing a game too much. I remember as a kid i played a game on Sega about a ghost and you had to scare people in a house for points (i can't remember the name, if you know please tell me!) the game triggered a horrible nightmare and i made my mam take it back, but my sister wasnt very happy lol
It is called Haunting, made by EA.

Oh dear, I've been reading these comments and now I just remembered:

Eternal Darkness is my new Friday the 13th guys. Really. That game freaks me out. And, what freaks me out isn't really the blood or exploding heads, if things like the TV turning off or the volume going down, or the people crying in the background... MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!

I remember when I finally got it, an year ago, I was "HORRAY! I'm finally playing ED!" I was in my bedroom, lights out, but I was doing fine for the first two hours of gameplay or so. Then things startd to get reeeeeeeeeeeeally weird... Then I turned ont he lights. Then I paused the game and went downstairs to take a break. Then, I finally runed off the game, terrified.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I can remember getting pretty freaked out by the hell world in silent hill but it didnt stop me from winning it, I guess the closest thing to a panic reaction Ive ever had in a game is the damn black headcrabs, soon as I hear one of them Im looking all over for it and back tracking to make sure the damn thing doesnt tag me

No but i couldn't shoot or watch someone get shot in the head for a year after a incident. It's a huge handicap in FPS

Oh... It sure is >.< I'm glad I never really witnessed any 'real' incident. I don't know how I would react, really.

Prey is the only game I can think of that unnerved me to the point that I stopped playing. Something about it just sent shivers up my spine.

maniac mansion. just knowing that one of the family members could come through and find you at any time was always kind of creepy to me.

There is a death scene late into Infinite Undiscovery that almost had me in tears (OK I cried like a baby, happy???) Anyways it still touches me when the memory surfaces. Too bad it was such a crappy game.

Being Stroggafied in Quake 4, I just kept waiting for someone to bust in and save me, and then the saw comes down... and it starts
