I am playing Metal Gear Solid 4, and at the moment I can't think of anything that they did wrong...

But things will probably crop up in hindsight.
There are more cutscenes then there is actual gameplay.

The final boss battle introduces new game mechanics without any reason or build up, and doesn't teach you how to use them.
Yet anyone who played the first 3 games would have already known these controls. Which was the point.

Also the cutscene vs. gameplay argument is only valid on a person to person basis. Personally I had no problem with it, but I understand if others did.

I would also have to vote for MGS4. I enjoyed every part of this game. I especially enjoyed the addition of multiplayer which I considered quite good.

Portal. I sit here looking for a problem I had with the game, and I can't really find one.

I really want to say MGS: Peace Walker, but the controls. There good for a PSP game, but that's just it. "For PSP" is just not a good excuse. Maybe if it ever comes to PS3 I would reconsider.

[Edit] Pong. So simple, yet perfect.

Jak 3.
The only reason I stopped playing it for while was because I got to a really hard point... it was a fun hard point I spent about 10 hours trying to beat it and only stopped because I thought I need to have a break from this, and as there was nothing else to do at that point I took a break. Came back a month later (because I forgot about it, was going to go back a couple of days later to play it) aced that part and hard the most fun I have ever had all the way to the end.
So what i'm saying is, a game being hard isn't a flaw.

Portal
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (well, besides needing game boy advances and the setup to do multiplayer, but that's not really one to count)
Tetris
Pong
Joust
Half Life 2: Episode One

I can't think of all of them ofcourse, but those off the top of my head...
You liked episode one more than HL2 or Ep 2?
You seem to misunderstand the topic here, it's about games you can't personally criticize, I could definitely say Half Life 2 had some criticisms despite being one of my all time favourites. Episode One just suddenly sprang to mind as a game that I couldn't really say anything bad about it, I thought it was a well done continuation and was fun. All those 5 games pretty much aren't any of my top 10 of all time even.

My favourite games of all time are Another World and Goldeneye, I could definitely say there were things I could criticize about them, but that doesn't stop them from being amazing to me.

I do not believe there is such a thing as a perfect game. Every game has flaws. Now, I love video games, and I love certain series, but is there a single game that you just can't criticize?

Now, I know we'll see a lot of Half-Life, Zelda, Metroid, Gears of War, Halo, and so forth. But you really gotta think before answering this. A game you "cannot criticize" is a game that in NO WAY made you go "why the eff is it doing THAT?" That during the course of the game itself you never badmouthed it for a MOMENT. A game that made you love every second, and want to play more after it was done. A game that in your eye is 100% genuine, perfect.

Now, I should provide an example, but at the moment, I can't think of one. Even some of my favorite games of all time have issues. Zelda Ocarina of time: Repetitive. Starcraft: Unbalanced. Fallout 3: Too Easy. World of Warcraft: Takes too long, too expensive. Rollercoaster Tycoon: Really Repetitive.

But as I was writing this, I think I had a revelation... Goldeneye. Yes, I don't think I can criticize it. Okay, except for the "Train" mission on 00 Agent. I mean COME ON! It takes her to 3 seconds left to find out where cuba is!!! The last objective is LITERALLY all about a split-second decision that could force you to do the ENTIRE LEVEL over again! It's not even an easy level! It's pretty damn hard!

Dammit. I couldn't even do it for goldeneye. But, beyond that one objective on one level under one difficulty, I can't think of any major criticism I have for it. So there's my opinion: Goldeneye for the N64.

Think carefully now, what is the one game you can't criticize? (I know I couldn't think of one without pointing out a flaw, but come on. There has to be one person who believes a certain game is a platinum statue made out of chocolate.)
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Starcraft, unbalanced? It's like the most balanced RTS ever if I remember correctly. 1 protoss to 2 terrans to 4 zerg, like exactly. Anyway for me it would be Shattered Horizon, the only problem is that nobody plays it, which isn't a problem with the game itself.

Simple games escape criticism because they concertrate on one little thing and make it perfect.

Tetris and Portal have been mentioned a lot because they're small and do what they do without flaw.

Can I add Baldur's Gate 2 though? It is by no means simple or small but I'll be DAMNED if I ever found 1 single thing to criticize. It was perfect to me.

I find it hard to criticize many games, there are the games that are close to perfection. Fallout 3, Civilization IV, Team Fortress 2, Deus Ex. Probably more but that is all you get for now!

Hmm...Tsukihime's sex scenes weren't written well, A Drug That Makes You Dream had too many, and Kanon's were fairly pointless. Otherwise, I would have no immediately obvious criticisms of those games. Wizardry 8 was a bit long, with a wacky difficulty curve and little support for dual-specialization. Tales of Symphonia had the inane Ymir Forest puzzle. Devil May Cry 3...

Okay, I have two: Devil May Cry 3 and Fate/Stay Night.

Admittedly, I'm specifically referring to DMC3: Special Edition, which fixed the difficulty settings. Otherwise, I really can't think of anything I didn't like. The music was awesome, the story was decent, the characters interesting and entertaining, the puzzles and exploration were fun, the combat was excellent, and the boss fights were spectacular. The closest I might come to criticism was the way the Arkham fight was handled (specifically, the second half), but it still worked all right (using the coding for the Doppelganger style), was a great moment besides, and was one of the game's hidden instances of multiplayer.

As for Fate/Stay Night...I know of criticisms for the game. I just haven't seen any I agree with. I thought the sex scenes were fine, all of the characters were interesting at minimum and compelling at best (heavily weighted towards the latter), the story was epic, the artwork, pseudo sprite animation, and music were beautiful, and the writing superb.
I've been trying to find out where to find Fate/Stay Night for while now

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Spyro the Dragon. Pure platforming perfection...
Dialogue.

SHUTDOWN!!

Anyways, I can't think of any. Every game has its flaws.

For all the people who said Tetris, it doesn't have very good graphics (i don't care if that's not a worthy point), and it gets repetitive fast.
For all the people who said Portal, it was a massive chunk too short.

I'd say Jak 2 is the closest I've seen, TF2 is too glitchy, Crash Bandicoot 2 had those fucking annoying jetpack levels, Spyro I've already covered, Rayman had the same problem as Spyro, Half-life... uh...

Oh, shit.

Thinking of a flawless game is nigh impossible because being insubstantial is a criticism as well. In order for a game top be perfect it has to be suitably deep, and the bigger things get the easier they get to fuck up

I'd say there is nothing, because no game is perfect, but I personally do not criticize the Fire Emblem series because I love it so much.

Just Cause 2 is the closest I can think of from a gameplay perspective, the dialogue is a bit clunky, but it's the game I have next to no negative things to say about it.

Was I the only one who thought it would actually make the dialogue more natural if they replaced "Cause chaos" with "Fuck some shit up"?

Mario 64.

Taking into account the time it was released, and how it revolutionized 3D gaming. It is beyond criticism.
