Take it away Kevin Butler!

I must say i've become fatter as I've gorged on video games and beer, my hedonistic lifestyle has ruined my figure, before I was a magnificient specimen but an operation left me indoors for 6 months, I think I need to sort that out.
I mean no great offense... but embedding a video that plays AUTOMATICALLY when you go to the forum page is a really quick way to aggravate your fellow forum users.

Please, for the love of all that is good... don't do that anymore.

The inquiry of the relation between video games and obesity have been risen multiple times. Particularly in occurrences that involve non-gamers in media or select parts of the internet. Connections have been established, and myths have been debunked.

My opinion, however, stands firmly that video games to not cause one's loss of self control in their diet and nutrition. In my perspective (that of which as a gamer) video games oft require players to be seated. Obvious aside, the player is much more relaxed, prone to eating more or easier to eat foods and beverages.

"But Slick Samurai," you might ask, "I thought you said that video games don't lead to obesity." I still stand by my opinion; just because the seated player is eating more or the consumption of fattier foods, doesn't mean video games are the culprit.

Most people of this generation and the last are often found sitting down, video games or not. While this is a very simple concept and an obvious one, some media outlets have difficulty in realizing or accepting it. In watching TV or browsing the Internet, the user can become just as lazy as playing video games.

And when you're ready to lose that badonka donk, you can go hunting for your food.... in Alaska... With a shoe.

Nowadays with our newfangled technology we're progressively more glued to the screen. We work in front of a screen, we play in front of a screen, and some (many) of us even make love in front of a screen.

Oh the irony of you sat in front of a computer using a forum to complain that people are spending too much time on computers.

So all those people who wile away the long hours nose-deep in the pages of a book we, what, don't exist or something?
Don't we all read by running around our houses at top speed while staring at the pages?
Fuck it, i'm going to give it a try for science.
i dont recommend it. walls hurt but now i have a whole page of dialouge tattooed to my face from the wall i crashed into whilst reading. so swings and roundabouts :)
*ponder*

I think, if my reasoning is correct, your dialogue tattoo should be in mirror-writing. Now you can read with a mirror!

No, a lack of exercise and nutritious foods is the cause of "fatness" in gamers. And not all of them, at that. Some of us are very healthy in our daily activities, and game profusely. You have to have both.

It does? I play video games all the time, and I think I've lost weight. If I haven't, I'm definitely not fat. My metabolism is awesome!

[sub] Although this may in part to doing martial arts as well..... [/sub]

Video Games do not make you fat, but they can come with the lifestyle.

I game obsessively, and I'm in great shape. Why? Because I eat 4 meals a day and exercise 3 days a week.

Gaming is a poor excuse for your shape.

I'm 6ft 4 and I'm pretty big but not extremity over weight and I do just sit in front of the TV all day but I also eat basically nothing because I have trained myself not to get hungry and I'm not skinny but I'm not fat I have been this build all my life and that's how it will stay even if I do exercise (which I did for like a year I went running everyday) nothing changes so I went fuck it because nothing seems to work I don't get fatter or skinnier so once again fuck it.

Indirectly yes. Sitting around for extended periods of time causes a gain in % body fat, and videogames quite easily cause people to do this.

Ultimately it comes down to the person in question. Some people have no problem balancing their time spent exercising and time spent sitting around, and some people have over the top metabolism's and may even benefit from eating more (healthy foods of course).

Most people I know who game are actually underweight too, because they hardly eat and sleep.

Supersize Me (as well as pretty much all health information ever) suggests that there's a LOT more to being thin and healthy than simply getting enough exercise.

Hi-five!
Also, Doctor Who FTW!!!! (David Tennant is still the best!)

But to get back to the original topic, it may, and it may not.
I'm 15, sit on my ass playing games for the majority of the day, and weigh about 57kg (nearly 9st)

See, the funny thing is, video games don't make you fat. In fact, while you're playing a video game you're likely to be burning fat. Fat (the bad kind, saturated) comes animal-based foods like milk and poultry and steak. Eating alot of that, combined with being sedentary make people fat.
Some people who lack the gaming capacity to play super mario bros. are still as sedentary and as a fat as someone who raids hardcore on WoW every night. I'm not suggesting all gamers are fat though. I know I'm not. I made it to average.

Yes, David is still the best (I prefer Christopher Eccleston over Matt Smith)

ANYWAY! Somehow getting back on topic as I don't want to be clobbered over the head by a mod with a hammer for derailment...

In addition to my original post, I am 19 and..... that was all I wanted to add. I had a point somewhere... Something to do with the fact that I'm 19 and that I have spend most of my teenage life as I do now and still fail to reach 10 stone yet

Yeah, playing video games does not make you fat... it increases your chances of being fat as it is less healthy than say playing an athletic sport, but certainly doesn't make you fat for you. I play video games usually from dusk till dawn and have no life whatsoever, but I eat healthy and just go for a 10-minute walk a day just to keep myself somewhat active. I weigh in at 135 pounds. Back when I used to get out all the time, play football, and only played video games about half the time I do now, but ate a lot of junk food. I weighed in at about 240 pounds. Do the math, sir.
