For some strange reason, I would love to hear what your favourite EVIL VILLAIN from any video game is. Do tell.
Personally, Jack of Blades from Fable. Not Lost Chapters fable, the creepy voiced original glitchtastic fable.

I thought Andrew Ryan from Bioshock was brilliant, just because he was so damn believable. Especially with the voice acting.

Glados was a great villain from Portal, although not in the conventional sense. Her lines were funny and she was used quite cleverly in the game.

Alfred Ashford from Resident Evil code veronica X. His laugh is the sign of death.

That, or Psycho Mantis. Playing MGS at 8 years old, that guy made chills go down my spine.

Do I really need to say it? Andrew Ryan baby! Even though I don't consider him a 'villain' more just an antagonist. Sander Cohen and Dr. Steinman are also some of my favorites.

I think Ryan has to count as a villain because you work your way to fighting him throughout most of the game. It's only in the games twist where he seems less of one.

Sander was great in his diaries. Especially the creepy bunny ones. Although I thought he was a better villain from his 'work' around Fort Frolic as opposed to the threat he was to the character.

Steinman was sick, but made me laugh (I have a twisted sense of humour).

My faviorite game villan I Always liked Seymor from Final Fantasy X he always felt way more threating then Sin and just when you think you fought him for the last time he would come back for another round. I also have to take my hat off to one other villian. Mephliss from Sonic the Hedghog 2006 was an intersting bad guy. Wail the game itself was absloutetly teriible Mephliss himseself was really creppy and you never knew what his game was and was the only reason I stuck it out to finshe the thing and he was also the only villan to actally kill Sonic as well even if only by a cheap shot. Any way those are my picks.

How about Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2 (that was a fun fight seeing as I didn't spam trinities) or maybe ... Sephiroth from FFVII: Crisis Core (haven't played the original FFVII)

I'm going to second Jack of Blades. That dude was a fucking badass. Here's hoping the power of the Spire brings him back in Fable 3 (which if the letter from Rose means anything, it might ^^).

A well thought out analysis but not one I am sure I agree with.

Ryan had a vision for Rapture and didn't like people going against that vision.

Fontaine created charities which went against Ryans principles and also smuggled in 'contraband' that Ryan didn't want in Rapture. Ryan used force against Fontaine by hanging smugglers and the like.

It seems to me that Ryan did what he did because people were not following his vision. That's not to say that Fontaine is a good guy by any stretch of the imagination but he gave people what they wanted.

Dr. Killjoy from The Suffering. He would be my avatar if I could find one. ::sadness:: I bet if Vincent Price had been alive at the time, they would have gotten him to do the voice.

"And, who are we kidding? We're not really trying to be humane anyway."

That aside, he's still my favorite villain because he's (As you said ) very believable, wonderfully voiced and relatable.

OP: I also liked Seymour in FFX, he was just one of those psychopaths that I love so much. He doesn't seem to like proper shirts though.

Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate II - stealing someone's soul after blowing up part of a populated city district (under which he had his evil torture and cloning dungeon) and taking over an asylum for insane mages is bad enough, but then he goes and attacks an elvish kingdom to try and become a God, then drags you down into Hell with him when you kill him and transforms into a huge evil monster with a horde of demons under his command.

I would really spoiler tag your post. Ugh, but yeah, I agree with that.

I mean, I'd already spoiled some of the game for myself before playing. I knew I was going to kill Ryan, and the whole "Would you kindly?" thing. And even before I realized Atlas had been saying it the whole game, and hell, even after, I did sort of suspect that Atlas wasn't being totally straight with me. That in some way, I was being used. But I figured, "Well, he's doing it to defeat Ryan, who's the real evil here. And after all, his family did get killed. And since I'm the spawn of Ryan, he sees me as the optimal tool of his vengence." It sort of seemed justified to me, even if it didn't completely sit right with me the way the main character's entire life had been manipulated for that purpose.

But Atlas was the only confident I had in that madhouse, the only voice of reason. I didn't feel quite so alone and vulnerable as long as I knew he was on the other end of that radio (well, okay, I had firearms and plasmid powers, but whatever, you get the idea). And BOOM, suddenly that was taken away from me. Atlas wasn't just using me, he didn't even exist. And the person he actually ended up being was an even worse kind of monster than Ryan was. And what I had seen as justified now was an unforgiven offense.

I was reeling from the scene where Fontaine finally reveals himself; it actually hurt to have my trust squashed like that. And while I did gain Tennebaum as an ally (I took the good route), I didn't dare allow myself to trust her like I had Atlas, lest she turn around and screw me over too. I felt the kind of isolation I usually only get from Silent Hill games, because for the first time, I truly felt alone. And I hated Fontaine for that. I damn well looked forward to the opportunity to take my wrench and smash his smug, bald head in.

It wasn't so much like salt on the wound for me. It was more like having a stick shoved into the wound. Lol, yeah, I really got into Bioshock. I'm replaying it to show a friend and she keeps asking me why I sometimes apologize for killing some of the more miserable splicers or flinch at things I've already seen. ::shrug:: It's more involving to me, I guess
