I know of many a gamer (myself included) who still remembers beating the elite four for the first time on Pokemon red/bule/yellow. Pokemon has been a proud part of gaming as it was the first game to prove that though sound and graphics are always appreicated, gameplay is always the most important part of any game and it doesn't get more addictive than the solid hours put in to building that game winning party and filling in that pokedex.

Use this forum to talk about you memories of pokemon, but before you do PLEASE, PLEASE place your vote on the Legacy Battles with Pokemon. This classic RPG series must not fall in the quarter finals!

you can vote for it on the link below.

Fair enough, I've changed it so it says please. I'm actually ashamed that I didn't put please in the first place.

...Sorry.

I voted Pokemon, but I regret it because Mario was very influential on my childhood. One of the first games I played was the Mario game that shared a Nintendo cartridge with Duck Hunt. When the first Mario Kart came out, I played it endlessly. Super Mario World, Mario Paint, Dr. Mario, 6 Golden Coins, Mario Teaches Typing, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, even the original Donkey Kong game featuring Mario (as Jump Man) were all a large part of my childhood. I've logged a lot of hours on Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow as well as Snap and Stadium, but Mario was my childhood favourite. Go Mario!

Fair enough, mario also played his role in my own gaming history and is without a doubt the one of the best when it comes to platform gaming. However what I liked about pokemon was its interactivity, how you could buy a game and even when you beat the elite four you can still enjoy playing it with your friends, trading and battling. It meant that kids could relate through a game and actually battle and trade for fun and to help each other complete the games. This next bits gonna sound really geeky but in secondary (High school in England) I actually met my two of my best mates through overhearing them talking about pokemon gold/silver, one of which I'm still a friend with today.

My most memorable experience with pokemon was fighting the elite four in red. I hadn't saved in forever, so when I lost to the third elite and had to start over, I was so pissed I didn't touch my gameboy for two days.

I have loved Pokemon for a long time. Yellow and Crystal have to be my favorites... probably because they are different from Red/Blue and Gold/Silver.

I know what you mean, silver was my favourite game of all but my first pokemon game (First game I brought, actually) was pokemon yellow. All very good fun.
