Sorry, I didn't realise that pokemon was the only RPG not involving turn based battling, levelling up and- hold on!tellmeimaninja said:Meh. To me, pokemon has always just been a bland, menu-selecting, turn-based RPG series that continues to add more things to catch with no new game elements so that it can cash in again and again. Also, the show sucked.
Lame jokes aside, pokemon and mario have probably developed around the same lines. Compare super mario bros to super mario galaxy and you have a prettier, 3d version of the latter. Do the same for pokemon and you also get the same sort of pattern.
I believe thought, that pokemon seems to go for the fanbase first and works on things which they want to see (Pokemon Gold/Silver remake available soon, for example) whereas mario has kept faithful, but always seemed to be trying to help nintendo sell off their latest consoles. Since it's Nintendo's mascot I can'r honestly blame them, but I still think that pokemon seems to treat the gamers old and new, whereas mario treats the latest crowd but always gives a bit of time to his fanbase.
