Meh. To me, pokemon has always just been a bland, menu-selecting, turn-based RPG series that continues to add more things to catch with no new game elements so that it can cash in again and again. Also, the show sucked.
Sorry, I didn't realise that pokemon was the only RPG not involving turn based battling, levelling up and- hold on!

Lame jokes aside, pokemon and mario have probably developed around the same lines. Compare super mario bros to super mario galaxy and you have a prettier, 3d version of the latter. Do the same for pokemon and you also get the same sort of pattern.

I believe thought, that pokemon seems to go for the fanbase first and works on things which they want to see (Pokemon Gold/Silver remake available soon, for example) whereas mario has kept faithful, but always seemed to be trying to help nintendo sell off their latest consoles. Since it's Nintendo's mascot I can'r honestly blame them, but I still think that pokemon seems to treat the gamers old and new, whereas mario treats the latest crowd but always gives a bit of time to his fanbase.

Well, I already voted for Pokemon, but whatever, the series rocked.

Still does, actually. Gold/Silver may have been my favourite games in the series, but Platinum's still pretty good.

begging for people to vote for something on another post's poll... that's just low. Pokemon is a turn based RPG, and unless it was up against something like earthbound it would never get my vote. Mario is much more fun.

Um, just look at who made the post please before you accuse me of begging.

Also, begging is when you are doing it for you own gain and benefit, whereas the only people who would gain from this is any members of Game Freak who need cheering up a little. I just think that Pokemon as a Legacy offers more to the gamer.

PLEASE, PLEASE place your vote on the Legacy Battles with Pokemon. This classic RPG series must not fall in the quarter finals!
Yup. I guess you're right. That's not begging at all. I feel dumb now. ztwmfkde Beg; verb
to ask (someone) to give or do something; implore. wewnflaisue. Oh sorry I sometimes randomly have siezures on my keyboard that cause me to copypaste things from dictionary.com onto forums. I'm going to call my doctor because he told me to contact him if it happened again.

Touche, my friend. I'm also glad that you cleverly avoided the bit about begging on other people's posts you mentioned.

But petty remarks aside, what is it you see in Mario that you don't see in Pokemon? Both started as 2D games, simplistic but enjoyable. Over the years they have both developed into 3D versions of their original games which, though they benefit from their improvements, are still at their heart the same game. Both have made spin off games, some amazing and some that we shall not mention (cough *Hotel Mario* cough)

As a legacy though, Mario has had since 1985 to improve himself compared to Pokemon being made in 1997, yet both games have so many similarities. So then, if mario is better then pokemon, why is it that even with a 12 year head start, both games appeared to have reached a similar state?

I voted for pokemon bur I seems like it won't make it past the next round based on its competition. Mario might have a chance, but Pokemon wold be the clear under dog if it made it to next round.

I remember the fun of legitimately getting all 151 on Pokemon Blue back in the day. It was tedious but awesome. This even includes a Nintendo event Mew, not a glitched one.

Now that is impressive! Shame that they never really did any pokemon events in England...
