Like 1000 JRPGs where the boss dies when you heal/resurrect him.
"HE'S WEAK TO HEALING! GET HIM!"
'So wait... To kill him, I have to heal him?'

Silly games and their counter-intuitive fight mechanics.

I was playing Demon's Souls, against the Tower Knight for the first time. For those of you who don't know, he is one hell of a mean boss if you don't have a specific, semi-rare item with you. I ended up ragequitting by turning off the console and walking away. When I returned, I was right before the boss fight. Then I realized the obvious - you can bypass returning to beginning of the level when you die by hitting the power button before it completes saving.

This revelation has completely ruined the game for me.

Just faced one of those annoying bosses in Uncharted 2.

During the train section you go up face to face against some Mexican. I tossed my grenades and blasted him with my guns, but he never went down. After a few seconds he started throwing grenades back at me and due to no escape area I always got the blast pretty much right in my face.

Fast forward over tons and tons of trial and errors and I figure out that you just gotta get close to him and punch him to death...

For me it was playing the oni sword base mission in halo reach on legendary with all skulls on. In that mode, elites are literally unkillable, except by assassination, which is an instakill on any difficulty. Me and my friend found a glitch where I would stand behind a glass window and these two elites with really good guns that kept screwing us would just stare at me and throw plasma grenades, which would bounce off the glass. My friend proceeded to walk right up to them and assassinate both of them. WIN!

Probably the final "Boss" in Mass Effect 2. I remember playing it and shooting the "boss" with my Revenant Rifle.

Then, for the hell of it I got out the cane and fired at the "Boss"'s weak spot.

I won. and I was like "WTF.... that's it?!?"...."well that blows"
In all honesty anything would die if you shot a nuke in it's eye. Though it was a ludicrous and somewhat underwhelming finale.

For me I was in Time Crisis, I forget which, three I think, the one with the guy in the plane and the boss with the claws, anyway a bunch of soldiers were running at me under a rocky overhang, I fired on it with my grenade launcher and laughed as it crushed them all.

Also me and a friend beat General Raam on the hardest difficulty by just spamming grenades and torquebow when before we had a complicated strategy.

I found out all the big Spider Lady bosses in Okami can pretty much be demolished by a single power slash across all the eyes in her butt part.
They weren't that difficult to start with, but it made it a heckuva lot quicker.

Not a boss, but also in Okami; When I had to make all the trees in a city district bloom.
I must've spent two hours looking for the last damn tree. Then my sister was all "lol circle that guy's head".
The guy had a tiny, unbloomed tree on his head.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

First time my friend told me you could strap C4 to a UAV in BC2 and take out objectives.

Can't remember any...wait, wait! Got an OLD one!

Baldur's Gate 2, there was an optional Dragon you could fight, Firkrag, who dropped the best sword in the game, The Holy Avenger. I couldn't beat him with my party, and I didn't want to leave the guy unharmed with me, no matter how underpowered I was. Was playing a mage, ran out of all spells other then "Flesh To Stone". That thing fails on most NORMAL guys...it worked, and the sword somehow was not destroyed like most items are.

Luckiest...roll...ever...
Could always just set a shitload of traps around it/him/her before talking to it/him/her. Traps bypass any resistances. Traps stay indefinitely so you can lay a bunch, rest, lay a bunch more...etc. Works best with I think the bounty hunter class...as they get Special Traps which deal about 3 times more damage.
Kinda cheap....but that fight is nearly impossible any other way.

Was on a random Marvel game (can't remember which) where you were currently playing as Elektra fighting against a dobule of Daredevil. I had real trouble with this until the genius AI managed to leap off the rooftop we were fighting on and died...

When I re played Ratchet and Clank 3 and got to the part where you fight Klunk and I got the sniper-gun-thingy in Lv.5 I shot him 8 times then it was my victory...And I remembered him as a difficult boss.
a lot of ratchet and clank enemies are like that actually, if you have a good enough gun then they drop super easily, but if your a bit behind they stomp you.
Yeah I got that during the re play but it still crushed part of my childhood memories about me being awesome fore beating the game

MvC3
TEAM: Chris (gun fire), Magneto (hyper gravitation), X-23 (neck slice)
AGAINST: Galactus
Difficulty: Hard
ATTEMPT: 5
Due to a crappy beginning, lost half of x-23's and a quarter of Magneto's health versus Doctor Doom and Wesker
Started attacking galactus, x-23 died , then magneto. Down to Chris. Galactus is charging up his instant-kill unblockable attack. I jumped into the air, pressed attack.
Killed Galactus with a flying elbow drop.
And hitting, then stunning, then stabbing then shooting w/pistol, SMG, shotgun, magnum, grenade launcher, and then Satellite GUIDED MISSILE didn't.
Bull Crap.
In Just Cause 2
I was having trouble with a base. So I took a fighter jet. After a couple strafing runs, everyone was dead. But they had called for backup. Was having trouble fighting off the helicopters, so I was taking damage. Saw the big plane that dropped paratroopers approaching. Hung to the bottom of my jet, missed the helicopter I was aiming for, dropped off, and the jet crashed into the paratrooper plane, blowing that up. While that happened, the helicopter that had initially dodged my plane crashed into the other helicopter.
I looted the base, and proceeded to jump off the mountain.

Comix Zone.

FREAKING HARD GAME.

Anyways, I was constantly stuck on the mother-boss thing at the end of the first level, but then it set a barrel on fire. I decided that pushing the barrel under would cause some extra damage, but she'd just attack and destroy the barrel. I tried anyways.

IT ROASTED HER ALIIIIIIIIIVE!

Seriously, get the barrel under her, end fight. She can't even attack while she's on fire.

Fun Extra: While not boss-related, I fixed a corrupted save in Fallout 3 by dropping a fat-man on my foot. I'm entirely serious. Clearly, Bethesda is trolling us all.

I killed a Daedra Lord in one of the realms of Oblivion by running around the sigil stone over and over again until it pathed into the fire and died.

It deserved it though. It had killed me dozens of times already.

Once when I was playing Pokemon : I had a LVL 2 Pidgey in the Gym nearby where you find them at the start. After getting him down to his last Pokemon I accidentaly summoned the Pidgey, I sighed, I looked back at the screen and my Pidgey hadn't taken any damage.
I ended up quick-attack spamming the Digtrio until it died.

After looking at a guide, it said "Flying-type Pokemon can't be damaged by Ground-Moves"

Then I thought to myself : "..I'm extremely thick.."
I had something like that happen to me too
I was trying to defeat the ghost gym and all of my Pokemon died. I had a lv 12 Togepi and it was fighting a level 20 Ghastly. I wound up killing it with Metronome...

Several years ago, but The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

After hitting Ganon with the Biggoron Sword for about an hour or so, I finally thought "Hey, maybe I have to hit him with the Master Sword". Turns out I was right. One final blow and he was finished.

Mine is facing Jormungandr in Magicka. Giant snake, holds its head off the ground so you can't hit it until it's about to attack. I accidentally cast Grease on the ground in front of it, then set it on fire. It then proceeded to take off 7/8ths of its health bar by DIPPING ITS HEAD IN THE GREASE FIRE. Do that once more, and it's done.
Holy shit! that worked? I never found a use for that spell! i always cast a shield spell and watched him bash his face into it for a bit of damage.

I've got one from borderlands though, fighting Krom in that one canyon. He shoots at you the entire time with his turret, the fight never actually gave me much trouble but one time my brother blew up the turret with a rocket launcher from all the way across the canyon and killed the boss. We still had to walk over and pick up the loot though :p

Baldur's Gate 2:I took down Firkraag using a backpack full of Magic Missile scrolls. =D

Demon's Souls: The Armor Spider. She's by no means the toughest boss, but she's made really easy by equipping the thief ring (or stealth ring, whatever) and spamming spells at her.

Tales of Vesperia: Every enemy or boss. Rita Mordio. Overlimit. Enough said.

I seem to remember pick pocketing Firkag? Is that possible? Also there was a cheeap dragon killing technique which was cast sleep when the dragon is not hostile, then cloud kill, then sleep again, and backstab the bastard.

Actually i had one of these moments yesterday;

In Super Meat Boy, against the boss at the end of The Rapture levels.
It's three worms that jump at you and you have to be really close to these saws in order for them to hit the saws instead.

After a lot of failing to miss the saws myself i noticed that there was a gap between two of the saws that i reckoned i could jump through. And jump i did! Then the three worms threw themselves at the saws trying to get to me and i win win win!

Borderlands. Nine-Toes, run up to the top of the arena and shoot the hell out of the two skags and himself. Idiot Skags can't follow me up there, and enemies are too inaccurate to shoot me.
