For the final boss fight in the first Bad Company, I fell into one of the destroyed fuel depots right above the water. The helicopter had a really hard time shooting at me, and the guys he would spawn behind me couldn't get at me either. Hard boss fight becomes easy boss fight.

Ridiculously Difficult Bosses. We've ALL had our share. You pick away at its monstrous health bar and try to dodge its ridiculously cheap attacks. Time after time, though, it curb stomps you American History X style. Then, it happens. In either a flash of genius or an accidental screwup, you find it. A cheap little trick. A stupid little tactic. Something simple. It completely wrecks his shit. You've completely destroyed this previously unstoppable juggernaut with a simple move. You have now facepalmed so hard you can feel the back of your skull.

What's your favourite "Wait a second, that WORKED?!" moment?

Mine is facing Jormungandr in Magicka. Giant snake, holds its head off the ground so you can't hit it until it's about to attack. I accidentally cast Grease on the ground in front of it, then set it on fire. It then proceeded to take off 7/8ths of its health bar by DIPPING ITS HEAD IN THE GREASE FIRE. Do that once more, and it's done.
In Oblivion. GAME I RECENTLY FINISHED,
When mankar camoran attacks I hit him and unleashed a spell called calm up accidentaly and he stopped attacking. I thought that shit only worked on wolves and Goblins

The first time you fight those sneaky little fuckers in Dead Space 2. Forgot their names. They're like velociraptors and they charge at you. Anyway the first time you fight them, rather than walk into their area and promptly get ambushed and rammed, etc, you can sit at this cage fence by a stair case. Step through the hole in the fence. They start moving around. Step back through the hole. They run and hide. Once I learned this I'd step through, lure them out, step back, kill them as they retreat or bump into each other.

stabbing Vamp with the syringe in Metal Gear Solid 4. After about 2 hours of "trying everything." It was really like "What? THATS what kills Vamp? Seriously?"
Thankfully once you know that he's really easy.

I was having real trouble with the giant end of mission boss during certain recruitment mission in Mass Effect 2. I chose the correct side on which to flank it, but couldn't seem to deplete its health enough to destroy it before the auto-repair function kicked in. The totally counter-intuitive solution was to get close enough to the actual boss that his auto-repair just stopped activating. Why simply getting close enough to the target had this effect I have no idea, but after about an hour of banging my head against the wall, I wasn't about to ask questions.

And I got trapped in Tv Tropes again. I've been stuck in this site so many times over the years that if I have more than 5 tabs open, I automatically assume that at least one of them was TV Tropes and a tab explosion is occurring.

DAMN YOU! I can't leave. Ever.

Detonator/tripmines work like a charm too. So much so I took to calling them "Stalker Busters."

I always had a hell of a time getting past the first boss in Solar Striker for the gameboy. Then I discovered by accident that I could hide up in the corner, out of the range of the boss's guns, and simply wait the battle out.

Hilariously kneeing Cesare's balls over and over again to keep him down worked amazingly in that game. Did I mention it was hilariously cheap?
As long as you take care of the adds with smoke bomb and blade, that move assures you'll never take a hit.

On the last level of 007: From Russia With Love, you have to destroy a plane, one of the enemies is in. It's parked at the end of the runway, firing rockets at you. You have a jetpack.

Now, there is a little alcove near the end of the runway, where the plane can't hit you, but you can shoot it just fine. Win, and continue with the level.

Also, in Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, during the first mission, you have to clear out a bandit camp. You can climb up into the 'attic', and there are 2 planks over a hole. Stand on them, and the bandits can't shoot you, but they will gather underneath you, and let you shoot them. Easy.

Note: Both of these I found after beating that part normally, (and painfully) many, many times.

I was playing on the hardest difficulty (not hardcore) so I had basically no money throughout the entire game. Every cent had to be spent on ammo and health (and suits) lest I never be able to make any progress. I did not have the luxury of buying any new guns once I filled up my four slots. Never had the trip mines. What I did find however is that the line gun would tear their legs off and usually kill them in one hit. From there I'd use kinesis to take one of their claws and shoot at at new ones. Those one hit killed too. I'd then chain kills via claws until the room was cleared.

Can't remember any...wait, wait! Got an OLD one!

Baldur's Gate 2, there was an optional Dragon you could fight, Firkrag, who dropped the best sword in the game, The Holy Avenger. I couldn't beat him with my party, and I didn't want to leave the guy unharmed with me, no matter how underpowered I was. Was playing a mage, ran out of all spells other then "Flesh To Stone". That thing fails on most NORMAL guys...it worked, and the sword somehow was not destroyed like most items are.

Luckiest...roll...ever...
That's a damn sweet statue...
I have a similar tale involving Firkraag, but I was a wild mage (coupled with the Rhihalto's Wild magick mod - basically improved wild magick spells and more random modifiers)

Anyway, I cast chromatic orb as an opening gambit...and the world went nuts. About every crazy spell fired off on him. There was even a herd of cattle summoned in for some reason.

Apparently there's a sword that kills it in one hit. I killed it by casting a shield before it hit. He would whack himself on the shield, and burrow away. Rinse, repeat, dead.

Mine is for the same game. I forget which level, but you're travelling through some swamps and you go into a church. Suddenly 3 wizards come out and each summon a dozen zombies each. After about 10 tries of me getting poisoned and killed in a matter of moments somehow I blew something up and they all died suddenly. Not a clue how that happened.
...so THAT'S what that "DRAGON SLAYER" sword I was holding did...

Anyone remember the dragon near Andrastes tomb in Dragon Age: Origins? Some say its an insanely hard battle, well I dont really think so. For some reason the dragon got stuck in a pillar and couldnt move, but it could still attack if I got close. So I just pulled my melee characters away from it and blasted it with arrows and magic from a distance. Seemed pretty easy to me
When anything can seem pretty easy when it completely bugs out and the boss cant touch you.
Sure is. I guess I just got lucky that time. I had to
Fight Flemeth in her dragon form without any bugs
That one was pretty hard. Harder than the Archdemon
Alistair, Oghren, Leliana (archer), and a dual-wielding dexterity-based rogue tank PC. Flemeth knocked out Alistair and Oghren pretty quickly, then I had my PC run circles around her until Leliana finished her off.

Holy shit! that worked? I never found a use for that spell! i always cast a shield spell and watched him bash his face into it for a bit of damage.

I've got one from borderlands though, fighting Krom in that one canyon. He shoots at you the entire time with his turret, the fight never actually gave me much trouble but one time my brother blew up the turret with a rocket launcher from all the way across the canyon and killed the boss. We still had to walk over and pick up the loot though :p
Dude, are you SERIOUS?! Grease is my #1 spell. It's ridiculously useful if you use it right. I just spray it everywhere, then do a fire area attack, and everything turns to die. Seriously, I play it single player (as nobody I know has it), so it's massively clusterfuck difficult. Grease is so useful for taking out mobs of enemies. Just plant it at a choke point, fire and forget.
