I can pretty much spot a gamer just by looking at them in my area, very drastic differences between "classes" of people, if you will (Gamer, Goth, Stoner, Emo, Rocker, etc).

So no, Im pretty much rarely, if ever, suprised that someone I know is a gamer.
Pray tell, what points us out to you?
Notice I said area, not forum. The internet aint a very reliable way of judging character.

Also, it has to do with the look, attitude, and whether or not they have a Wavebird in their backpack :p

None of my family plays games, save bro games, and no one at my school is a pc gamer.
Some of my teachers play casual games, or bro games; I was surprised to find out my business teacher/ ocmputer teacher (she's 50 something) liked rather violent flash based games like thing thing.

So... Do you know of anyone that you wouldn't dream in a million years enjoyed and was devoted to gaming but you've found out that they are?

Well, after seeing the Saints Row 2 "news" - apparnetly Tera Patrick is quite the gamer.

Maybe porn stars like the rumble.

My old boss was more of a gamer than I'd first presumed---he talked about playing Madden and NBA Live and I figured "OK, frat boy gamer, plays sports and not much else." Then he mentioned Assassin's Creed and Army of Two (which he played with my coworker's husband) and I was like "cool".

Still couldn't relate too much, because even in a room full of gamers people look at me like "Dude, your style's weird." Comes with the territory on PC-exclusive singleplayer.

My friend from school, a girl who's not very nerdy, always hated when m friends and I talked about video games around her. Now, apparently, she wants some sort of gaming console for Christmas. I'm all like 'wtfomgqrt.'

One of my English professors played WoW and liked books like Snowcrash. She was a *****. Only English class I ever failed.

I was pleasently suprised to discover Vin Deisel and Stephen Colbert played D&D

I found out last year that my short-lived girfriend was a dedicated Halo player, that was weird...
...Short lived?

So you killed her after you found out she liked Halo? SHAME SHAME!

I forgot. My boyfriend's grandmother. She loves her DS.
Good God, that is cute.

I'm amused by the fact that one of my 60-year-old history professors owns a Playstation 3 and loves the snot out of MGS4. Seriously, I cannot imagine this adorable old man shooting up soldiers and flinging grenades.

As for porn stars and video games: if you every watch Chemistry 3, Roxy Deville (favorite female porn star ever!) talks about how male pornstars are all nerds and rush home to play WoW after finishing scenes.

My seventh grade math teacher was nuts about AoE2. I beat him. Barely.
I have a best friend(she's pretty much a semi-pro singer, in a broadway style. Some modeling too) loves Halo. I haven't gotten to play her yet.

When my little sister was three years old, she got 11th/12th in an online Mario Kart Wii game. I'm so proud...
Also, my step-aunt shows lots of interest in racing games. She's not that bad.

Oh yeah finding out that Robin Williams was a gamer was fun. At the time he was really into Battlefield 2, his favorite class was the Sniper. That dirty bastard!

During one of my math teacher's regular anecdotes, he lets slip that he couldn't install a game... the whole class was like 'WTF?!' Turns out he played a bit of Civilisation.

Though, I love it when people find out I'm an avid gamer. That always gives me a laugh.
