do game movies count? Dungeons and Dragons, Bloodrayne and Mortal Kombat all had sequels, none should have.
To be fair, the sequel to DnD was about 100x better.

Movies: ...saw, final destination...
Damn how I agree with you on that one. The funny thing is that both are not really that bad. They both have decently original plots and premises and don't fail in any technical respect either. But as fresh and interesting the concepts were in the first ones they were just not meant for sequels.

Left 4 Dead. Not because it was bad, completely the opposite. The sequel just seemed to be too soon, when the first game was (and is) still awesome

Oh, and Cats and Dogs 2. It's not a game, but why the hell is there a sequel coming out?
For the purpose of shovelling as much shovelware as possible.

Anyways, when a game is bad, I just set to ignoring it rather than complaining, but Guitar Hero 3 would be my contender, because I feel that the series peaked around there and GH2, and adding more on has only diminished the enjoyability of the later games, as Harmonix rapidly runs out of good Guitar Songs and just goes back to ripping off Rock Band, which was incidentally made by the people who made the original GH, the concept for which was bought out by Harmonix and shamelessly repeated.

I guess I'm just trying to say, Harmonix needs to die in a fire, their only redemption being GH3, which wasn't their idea to start with.
Pretty sure you've got your timeline wrong there man. Harmonix didn't develop guitar hero 3. Neversoft did. Some companies were bought out and Harmonix continued refining their music game ideas with the Rock Band series.

Harmonix is a great company, full of innovation (despite Konami having the first guitar controller game).

Well, while I wasn't surprised a game got a sequel, I was surprised a game WAS a sequel:

Red Dead Redemption, aka Red Dead Revolver 2.

That surprised me to no end.

Also... Lego Indiana Jones 2. Great! As if the first one wasn't mediocre enough, you have to add the Fourth Movie, which, I may remind you all, does not exist*.
*I refuse to quantify the existence of that movie in any way.
Left 4 Dead. It didn't deserve a sequel at all. In fact, it wasn't really a sequel, more like a DLC that you had to pay 60 bucks for. I mean, if they had actually changed it so that it had a story, or interesting characters that you actually give a shit about, alright. But they didn't, and it kind of sucks...

I was initially shocked to hear about the Portal sequel. I had never noticed the commercial success of it until after. I myself got it free of Steam. (Which was one of the best things I have gotten for free legally)

Some games are just so perfect on there own that they don't really require any additions. Not that such sequels ever damage the originals but sometimes it tarnishes its reputation. More is seldom worse.

starcraft. i mean did anyone even play that game...? not funny? ok, sorry

i guess probably the first bad sequels that comes to mind is releasing the same madden game every year and changing the picture on the box

and i didnt think the blood raine games were bad. stupid and cliche and mindless, sure. but it was no more mindless than the hundreds of other console shooters. i dont remember the controls being bad so at least thats something. if nothing else, it was better than the blood omen games

Kane and Lynch. Universally hated, and yet it got a sequel. Meanwhile back at the ranch we're still waiting on Beyond Good and Evil...

Super Mario Galaxy 2. I don't understand why it deserves one, other than to print more money.
These two, and FEAR and Silent Hill 8.
