So I got a WTF situation at work today.

I work at a grocery store and there's been some thieves there the past month so we hired some security guards to patrol every hour there (not their only job obviously) and a customer went up to one of them and said she smelled like something was burning.
So he came to me and we went there looking and he said he couldn't smell anything. Since I live were I do and the past couple of weeks have been around minus 20C I just said "you caught the flu too?"
To which he replied: No, I worked at a bar a few years back and a guy came over and beat me down with a pint and then kept punching me until the other guard got him, so when I woke up at the hospital they said I had lost my sence of smell due to the damage I took to the face.

My reaction that you saw was pretty smooth but on the inside I was like whathehellisthatevenpossible??
So he litterally got his sence of smell beaten out of him...

Dear Escapist, I want to hear your "wait ... What?!!" stories. Told by someone or your own experiences.

Today or yesterday I read a story in the newspaper:

A 98 year old woman was recently found dead, appearing to have been raped.
Just recently, the police apprehended a suspect.
An 18 year old boy.

I went to buy an ebook off blacklibrary.com (they are the only place to get ebooks of warhammer fantasy and/or 40k) and it declined by card. So I figured wtf I better call the bank to see whats going on. So I call, talk to the lady on the other end, and come to find out GWBlackLibrary (the name of the charge in their system) is flagged for fraud because it is based in Great Britain.

I immediately thought "...wait...what?" How is a company worth over 100 million dollars and is well known even in the US flagged for fraud just because it is in England? Furthermore, why is any company based in England flagged just for being there? I mean sure we fought a couple wars against them but that was over two centuries ago! Hold a grudge much?

So I asked if I could get around that. I was told I can get a temporary override for a day to make the purchase. So in the future if I want more I will have the call the bank every time...needless to say I bought four books instead of one.

A friend of mine came to visit and I showed him..I forget now, something on my computer and asked him did he want it. His answer was "No, my computer doesn't work now - I lost my hard drive".

...

Wait, what? How did he manage to lose his hard drive from inside his PC? Turns out that he took it out to bring it to another friend of his and then on the way back he forgot it in the bus.

I went "Wait, what?" again but it was useless.

I had one this morning. I ordered a new bag for college off a website in the US (im in the UK) on saturday and paid $8 postage. I wait a few days and it says that it is still processing the order so I email the website to find out whats going on. I get an email back saying that I should have $20 postage could I send them $12 over paypal.

Wait what? Why did your checkout charge me less than half price for postage? Not just that but I have to pay for your mess up. I still sent them the $12 but its really annoyed me.

My friend who reads up on a lot of biology and biochemistry - who is doing a biochemistry degree next year says there's no evidence for evolution at all. I got so frustrated with it I just gave up.
