Games:
Battle for Wesnoth - A very good turn-based strategy game that is free to download for Mac, Windows, or Linux.
Beyond Good and Evil - A sci-fi masterpiece that is little-known and even more rarely played.
Okami - The single most beautiful artistic experience in gaming, with a graphical style that makes the entire game look like a Japanese painting. Plays similar to Legend of Zelda and is absolutely stunning in every artistic way imaginable.

Movies -
Pan's Labyrinth - Decently well-known, but many people have not seen it. Amazing film.

GAME: I think I've mentioned this recently, but Project EDEN is a fantastic early PS2 game that no one is ever familiar with except the one friend I played the game with. And my ex girlfriend who would tell us what we SHOULD be doing and then we'd ignore her and then realize she was right. Wow did that make her mad. Anywho, it's a single (jump in-jump out co-op! ahead of it's time!) player game, sort of a 3rd/1st person shooter/puzzler. Lots of environmental puzzles, and you'd have four dudes to choose from, each with their own abilities.

MOVIE: Dark City, sort of did a lot of cool things that The Matrix did before The Matrix. Go rent the directors cut (the only way to see this movie). It's worth it. The original version had this horrible voice over beginning that completely gave away aspects of the story.

BAND: Where to start? Gosh. Uhh, ok here's one. If you dig oldschool Buzzcocks style pop punk check out The Exploding Hearts. One of the coolest bands in the very cool Portland punk rock revival of the 2000's. They put out about an album and a half of material before most of them died in a bus accident. Sad story, really cool band.
