"Ah, good to have work like that to keep yourselves busy. I've got to say, I'm starting to go a little stir-crazy here. It's great not having to pick your way through a post-apocalyptic hell every day, but doing nothing but exercising and drinking all day isn't the most interesting thing. Not to mention, I'd like to know how they're getting on with the war effort back home."

"It's the name my momma gave me alright. Said the day I was born, the sky had been golden. She felt it fit. I don't mind it either." Gold glanced at James, before turning back to EMily. He was about to say something more when he spied the woman in the white fedora, and watched her for a moment, curious about her.

<color=purple>"Well, do you have a game you like to play? I don't know how often you get to play board, card, or electronic games where you're from. But I sure would like to know if you have a favorite game. Maybe that would help ease some tension?"

<color=blue>"Hehe... that's neat. My own name is a half nickname, if one could call it that. The real name is just Emily. The EM in the other name just means 'electromagnetism.'" She turned to where Gold spotted someone in white. <color=blue>"Hmmmm? Do you know her?"

Not really taking notice of Gold staring at her, she simply walked over to the bar and seemed to be looking for something non-alcoholic. After a good amount of rummaging, she managed to find a can of soda, which she popped open and sipped lightly. Seeming a little less tense, she calmly sat herself down on a couch and sighed happily. Noting Emily talk about her, she turned away, becoming a bit more tense again.

...It'd be embarrassing for people to see how bad I am at drinking... ...And I don't want to fight here if I can help it... Hopefully, this is a safe zone...

 

[Random berk]

James shrugged.
"I used to be a gamer, but there hasn't been a games console running on my world for a decade. Not enough power to waste on them, you know? I was never good at card games. Well, except for Kings." He chuckled. "At least we have the alcohol for it."

Drayven turned away from the screen, growing tired of the fight. Glancing benignly at the newcomer in the white hat, he went to the seats and sat down, drawing a quill and leather-bound book from the folds of his robe.

OoC: @Gearhead and I'm fine with it. No need to ask if you want to join in. I can't speak for the others, but I'd always be fine with you joining us.

Gold shrugged, and turned back to EMily. "Not really, just checking out the people I haven't met yet. Want to be ready for a fight if one comes up." he smiled, and said "Oh really? Electromagnetism? any story behind that?"

<color=purple>"Kings huh? Is that like a trick taking game like Pitch?"

She took a deep breath, not exactly wanting to give a huge extensive version of her origins.
<color=blue>"Well, the condensed version of the story is that my sisters and I were once born as one. It's been told to us by our parents that soon after the birth, that child split into all four of us in a burst of bright white light. Each one of us representing one of four fundamental forces that govern the universe. And electromagnetism is the force that I inherited. Gwen over there inherited the force of gravity. There are far more details than that, so I wouldn't be surprised if you wanted any clarification." She shrugged.

OOC: Yup, changed their origin story a bit. Although it does still involve aliens.

OoC: K then. Skipping the whole "darkness, voiceover, personalised room" bit cause we already know how that turns out.

In the passageway holding the combatant's rooms, a girl glided out of one of the doorways, hovering a few centimeters off the ground. She looked up and down the passage, then slowly glided to the lounge, standing just outside the doorway and looking into the room.

"It's a drinking game. You lay a circle of cards around a pitcher. Each number on the card has a different rule attached to it, which everyone has to follow if it's drawn. Some cards require every player to pour a bit of drink in the pitcher. Whoever draws a King has to drink the resulting concoction. It's always fun with a good crowd, though it can get a bit messy."

Gwen chuckled a bit, then rubbed her forehead.
<color=purple>"Sounds fun enough. If you have a deck on you, I could probably teach you some card games that are for the sober."

Gold scooted imperceptibly away from EMily. "Ah. How much control do you have of this EM field exactly?"

In his seat, Drayven set his quill to paper, then frowned. Glancing around at everyone in the room, including the new blone girl at the door and the girl in the fedora sitting nearby in turn, he shook his head slightly then flipped a few pages back, beginning to scan through what was written.

Ness blinked a bit as she listened to EMily. She turned slightly in interest and also looked toward the blonde girl floating near the doorway, tilting her head a small bit. ....This is a lot like the lab... Maybe I'm not that far from home...

 

[Slenn]

<color=blue>"Well, I've been pretty adept at it for quite a while. These past few years for me really pushed the limit for my sisters and I. Although it wasn't always like that. Ever since I was 15 I've been learning new things about electricity and magnetism from the courses I took and the books I've read. And in turn, I've learned how to do various things with my powers in addition to handling larger amounts of electric charge. You see... most of my powers come from knowledge. Although it can be said I was a scientist ever since I was seven."

The girl saw she had been noticed. She came out from behind the doorway slowly, seeming almost shy. She looked around, the top half of her face hidden under a visor but the singular red eye of the visor slowly scanning the room, moving along the eyepeice.

EMily turned her head in response to the magnetic field produced by Lambda's circuitry.

"Sober? Where's the fun in that?" James laughed. "That sounds good, but I'm afraid cards aren't part of our standard kit. I don't have any."

"I'm more thinking along the lines of not causing my little mechanical eyes exploding. You've gotten to the point where you can avoid that quite well right?" Gold asked, not really paying attention to Lambda's arrival.

The girl spoke in monotone. "Scanning... multiple subjects. Species: Human, modified human, feline beastkin, unknown homonoid. Threat level: undetermined."
