Warcraft 4...maybe?

I thought that they would be too busy working on the other 2 parts of Starcraft II. Also that fact that there is still more Starcraft, Diablo and World of Warcraft to arrive makes me think no, as well as the detail that it may be on multiple platforms, and the DS? Blizzard would probably go with a 3DS for the better hardware.

WOW IS WARCRAFT 4!

No it isn't

Actually Blizzard has even said that for all intents and purposes WoW is Warcraft 4. I don't have the actual quote on hand (I will get it after I get home from work). Anyways, WoW is Warcraft 4 and why the hell would they make a Warcraft 4? WoW is a great game and continues the story, if you want an RTS version than just play Warcraft 3 again.

Why?

*Extremely successful past
*Rich lore to work with
*A team that will be ready to work on it once SC 2 is complete
*It would be a bloody goldmine (Kotick would be happy. xD)
*RTS engine prepared - Might feel "outdated" by the time the team is ready however and it might not fit the game.

Warcraft III's online was probably the best system ever. There was almost nothing that escaped a re-make in WC3 form on battle.net. I hope WC4 comes out for this reason.

Blizzard is making too much money with WOW. They wouldn't risk the franchise on something else when they are literally swimming in money. Sad, but true.

Sorry, but what lore? All of the important personalities getting murdered by random and nameless people?
At least the RTSs had some pretty cool lore

Though I'm sure of the source or what not, I'm pretty sure Blizzard has said you aren't just random nameless heroes going around killing everything. You are more of the army, helping out the real heroes.....for example, in WC3, you have Malfurion and Thrall and everyone else fighting to defend the World Tree from Archimonde...you are not some random hero helping them out, you are part of the small army of mooks and cannon fodder helping them out. So..its not XxSirHaxxx taking out the Lich King, its Tirion and his army/followers taking out the Lich King.

But yes, there is some big lore stuff going on with the WoW series.

WoW is WoW. The title of the game is not "Warcraft 4". It's not an RTS either, so calling it Warcraft 4 is ridiculous. No, I don't believe I will "get over it", thank you.

Warcraft 4 would be awesome. I was never a fan of starcraft.
However. The source of this rumour leaves me in doubt.
Not only is the author of this not capable of proper grammar or spelling, which should be required of anyone writing articles for any site really, he wrote;

"Its being considered for multiple platforms like the 360 and PS3, but DS has actually been started on."

Uh, what? That Blizzard would willingly step into the pitfall that is console RTS is just downright stupid.
It seems like wishful thinking to me, at best.

But hey, if they do announce a Warcraft 4, I'll be just as excited as the rest.

I'd love to see it as I've always preferred WC3 to either Starcraft, but many of the concerns raised above are valid. If nothing else they should finish the other two parts of Starcraft 2 first before committing to a new project.

With regards to the story, I think a prequel would be the best way to avoid the mess WoW has made, dealing with the trials and tribulations of the races during the First Burning Legion invasion, a period only dealt with in a few of the novels.

Oh god NO! I mean... Have you seen what they have done to WC3? I'd like to say something like NO WAY THEY CAN SCREW IT MORE, but hey we are in 21st century, we all know it's pretty easy... Okay, okay, maybe it would be good, maybe even better than WC2 but I doubt about it, they got WoW why bother with WC4? And well... As someone said WC4 = WOW, he has a good point.
