My only hope is for the gameplay to come good, better than what we've been shown. I know i'll never be happy with the Canon-violations, but that's always a danger with 40K, but by god unless some awesome is freebased into that game it won't be worth playing. Corridors of enemies that stand around making occasional attacks? Oh dear lord, no.-bladerunner- said:Looks good but they have to have a massive range of cutscenes and combos otherwise it just gets really repetitive and boring. Has potential though.
The marine in the movie certainly isn't either of those chapters. From what I can see, his left shoulder pad (which holds chapter insignia) is a circled skull. Probably a new chapter for the game (like Blood Ravens were for DoW), considering there are approximately 100 and only a couple of dozen have been named.Reaperman Wompa said:Looks really good, hope they work on the controls a bit as they seem a bit complicated.
Can't wait.
Edit: If it's Blood ravens or Ultramarines I will kill someone. There's dozens of chapters, pick a new one dammit.
Agree with the scale statements. But then, as the guy said, this is a first build so I'm sure they can add more going on. Quite why a squad sergeant is running around on his own from the rest of the company is another matter altogether...Ultrajoe said:My only hope is for the gameplay to come good, better than what we've been shown. Open up the battlefields. Add more men on either side, 40K is about scale, not lone heroes. Lone heroes do not exist, not for long anyway. It's too late to hope for a squad combat system, but at least open the scale. Visually busy? That was positively stale for my eyes. A few flying planes does not a battle make. You say you want to give us the scope of war,? well thats bollocks, because we're not sheep; we're going to get sick of obviously denoted paths real hard, real fast.
Add some sense to the fighting. Who wouldn't seek cover from a space-marine? And please let us change weapons, that got boring after fight #2, let alone 7 hours of gameplay (Cant expect more nowadays). Why does a man not go the pieces after a hit by a chainsword? Allow us to dominate guardsmen. You can up the difficulty even with a Godlike protagonist. look at God of War. Every move looked utterly badass but there was still a challenge. That game sold, boys.
Ranged combat a side-note? Really? If this was a scale-shooter with 20 marines in your team i could respect that, because that's what the Canon does, the marines close quickly so they have the advantage. But given that you've shat all over the canon to give us a lone wolf *cough*heretic*cough* it suddenly doesn't make sense. These things are done for a reason.
You can't lie, Gears of War inspired this game. But you know what? You took a boat and cut the bottom out. A 3rd person shooter for 40K might have worked, even with an emphasis on Melee. But not this. This is gears of war gameplay with the good bits gutted, and Assassins creed combat with the skill and flair raped and removed.
And the enemies and environment? Don't get me started. You guys ever read a codex?
Fail on two fronts boys. Either get better at what you're doing (unlikely) or start over. Your not just churning out some idiotic production-line shooter, you're taking some weighty Canon and history in your hands. Dont fuck it up.
As the rather resigned narrator would say (Could you tell he didn't like his own game?):
We like to call this: Meeting Basic Expectations
I thought it was Deathwatch, from the colors and the symbol, though I'm nowhere near an expert. And were the blood ravens invented for DoW?dr_scitt said:Reaperman Wompa said:Looks really good, hope they work on the controls a bit as they seem a bit complicated.

Actuall, Fire Warrior wasn't that bad. I prefer FPS's in general, but don't mind 3rd person either (Gears of War, anyone?). This basically looks like a 3rd person version of Fire Warrior, but with the bad bits removed and improved upon. Plus, it deals with a different race. I'm particularly interested in the cutscene style camera shots during gameplay, provided that the system doesn't intefere in any way with the actual gameplay itself (how annoying would that be during a boss fight if the camera suddenly changes and you shoot in completely the wrong direction?).Timelord91 said:because the 1st person Fire Warrior failed epicly.rossatdi said:It looks pretty cool for a first build but why on god's earth is it 3rd person action not 1st person shooter?
Yes, they were (sorry to double-post).Reaperman Wompa said:And were the blood ravens invented for DoW?
Well the deathwatch are all in black other than their chapter pad, which stays with the insignia of the chapter the marine has been assigned from (the other pad changes to the deathwatch inquisitional icon). The marine's armour looked blue to me.Reaperman Wompa said:I thought it was Deathwatch, from the colors and the symbol, though I'm nowhere near an expert. It appears they turned it's damage off for the purposes of making the film clip.Dayantis said:BS a boltgun shoots like that...
And unloading a clip into what essentially is a guardsman doesn't kill it?!?!
LIES!
Because it was a rough knock up for the executives to see, technically it'd only just be getting to alpha now.Decoy Doctorpus said:2: A leak of a super secret project eh? Then why does it have a running commentary stuffed with more buzzwords than a Nintendo convention?
Latest new was, that 360 logo was added in by a fan and people have just kept it in there.Khell_Sennet said:On the other hand it's XBox360.
