I found one of my old Warhammer models the other day and it got me thinking "a lot of FPS's are unofficially based on Warhammer, why not make a FPS or a 3PS about it?" and i came up with three ideas for that game:
1.My first idea was that the game had to sticck to the lore very closely because each race has their own unique and interesting backstory (except the Tyranids of course) and it would be a great game if it could tell that in an interesting way.
2.My second idea was that if you were going to tell their backstories you'd have to do it for each race which would mean having 9 campaigns of possibly intertwining stories.
3.My third idea is that you'd have to capture the feel of the races in both the gameplay and the story
I then began to come up with ideas for some of the races:
Space Marines
You'd have to capture the desperation of the Imperium as they face near extinction in the story and the sheer power of the space marines in the gameplay in a COD 4 type of game
Imperial Guard
Again, you'd have to capture the desperation of man in the story but for the gameplay you could have something like Battlefront or TF2 to convey the expendability of the soldiers
Eldar
Yet again you'd have to convey the fact that the Eldar are near extinction but for the gameplay you'd have to show how elegant yet deadly the Eldar in a COD 4 type of game
Orks
For the story you'd have to show just how anarchistic the Ork society is and how brutal they are. For the gamepolay you could have it again like Star Wars Battlefront to show how many Orks they are or you could have it like COD 4 in which you start out low in the ranks and ascend up
Tau
For the story you would have to convey that the Tau want peace first but are prepared to fight for it for the gameplay you could have a COD 4 system of gameplay with Tau elements
I couldn't think of unique ones for any other races
