You've never read the comics have you? Batman is all serious, all the time. He's not emo at all. He has emotional and psychological issues sure but he's turned those into things he's used to fight crime.Sgt. Sykes said:He's pretty much emo; no deadly force; absolutely no character; in Arkham games, he's built like a caricature (I know, so is Jocker and the others, but those ones are supposed to be funny). And basically he's a comical character who wants to be taken seriously. I mean, bat ears, cheese... And all those deus ex machina gadgets?Kenbo Slice said:Okay...explain to me how Batman is stupid? Please...I really want to know.
Nah. I can suspend my disbelief in Batman Begins or Mask of the Phantasm, but in Arkham, he's trying to be so serious it's beyond comical.
As Moviebob put it, the best Batman is Big Daddy in Kick-Ass. At least he know how to use a friggin' shotgun when he needs it.
Erm...so a game wouldn't work where you spend lots of time fighting mooks?Marshall Honorof said:While there have been a few exceptions [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9194-Batman-Arkham-City-Review], it's really hard to make a good superhero game. Think about it: In any given superhero story, how many characters are actually stronger than the protagonist?
Batman is Ayn Rands wet dream. He is a mega rich, upper class businessman who at night comes down from his ivory tower to beat up and imprison the poor, the mentally ill, the disabled and ethnic minorities.Kenbo Slice said:You've never read the comics have you? Might I bring up how you said X-Men would make a good game, half of the X-Men cast wears silly brightly colored costumes. Also a lot of Marvel characters are overpowered as fuck. They're more of a caricature than Batman is.
Batman has no superpowers, which is what makes him interesting. Also, he has the best Rogues Gallery ever.
And I would still take the Punisher over Batman everytime. I find him far more believable than the ever so perfect Batman. Doesnt stop Arkham asylum being a fantastic game though. Even if the last fight was a real letdown and didnt fit.OutrageousEmu said:Batman is basically the living embodiment of order and discipline. This is why The Joker, the living embodiment of chaos, makes such a good counterpart to him. He is a human at his physical and mental peak who can utterly destroy the criminal element if he was pushed to, but must never take a life because that would mean he has become a part of the chaos that took his parents life. He also has total emotional control, still grieving on his failures. Thus, he sets his brilliant mind and body in a one man war against crime.
Big Daddy is a vigilante with a shotgun who couldn't outsmart a toddler. Taking a life doesn't make you better, it makes you lazier, and means the only reason you're a "hero" is you're wearing a retarded costume.
He doesn't beat up and imprison the poor. He beats up and imprisons bad guys, who are not always poor. He traveled abroad for years to learn his skills and when he came back to Gotham he made tons of mistakes at first, he got better over time. He wasn't born with any of these skills. He trained for years and he still is training. Also, tons of his foes are highly intelligent. Take Bane for example, he speaks eight languages, and figured out who Batman was in under a year and broke his back. He's also a master tactician as well. Bane is just as smart as Batman is.bjj hero said:Batman is Ayn Rands wet dream. He is physically gifted and intellectually superior to his foes. Apparently he found the time to become a master inventor, businessman, detective, mixed martial artist etc etc. If you work hard all your life you may just master one of these fields unless you are elitist poster boy batman. I dont buy it. Overposered as fuck to use your words. He is far better in every way than the powerless working class who depend on him for their very lives.
Now the Punisher? I can get behind that. A Vietnam vet who may have gone a different route if he'd had the proper counselling at the right time. I can buy into that. Frank Castle is a trained killer with lots of weapons who is just angry as fuck. We need more Punisher games.
I loved the Punisher on the original xbox. The way your could interrorgate thugs was fantastic. The part where you lie in a gangsters coffin with an M60 then pop out at the funeral to mow all the unarmed mourners down still makes me smile when I remember it.
Also what you said.OutrageousEmu said:Setting aside how listening to Moviebob makes your argument retarded by association....Sgt. What did Comma's ever do to you?mrm5561 said:if they really are planning on making better games the first step is finding a dc hero other than batman they can make a game about. green lantern would be fun but since he can make his ring do whatever he wants its going to feel like the player has no control over what he makes. flash is kinda out too cause a game where you can run faster than the speed of light would make for a short game. as weird as it sounds i think they should go with a teen titans game. every hero can have their own gameplay an missions and way to get around the city. plus that means more nightwing and im all for that
Not always poor, ethnic minority, disabled or mentally ill but normally fall into one or more of those catagories.Kenbo Slice said:He doesn't beat up and imprison the poor.
