The only reason it was in there is because the escapist wanted the traffic from facebook. Its shameful really.

Maybe some of the peopel who love mafia wars will actually catch on to what we're talking about in here generallya dn try out somehting that they think resembles it, liek GTA or saints row, and whadoyaknow, a new gamer is born.

None of us were born with knowledge of gaming, we we're intrpduced somehow, this may very well result in people trying out stuff they wouldn't have otehrwise, and mayeb they'll end up liking gameing.

Anyway, Znyga does not produce causal games. They copy other companies games and make them into facebook apps.

PoPcap games on the other hand, does produce casual games that could be the gateway into gaming. Facebook browsers who play Farmville will likely never be gamers.

You honestly thinks it matters to the user whether the game was made before by someone else or not?
I didn't see hordes of popcap fans coming to this site making accounts. I know many of those accounts were just to vote but who knows, they may check out something, and someone might stay and learn a bit about real gameing.

regardless, everyone who came generated trafic for the escapist, which makes money for the escapist.

Actually no we had a group dedicated to the downfall of Zynga trying since the Square bout. We pulled in massive support pestered Valve got an ad put in on Steam and we were ahead way way way waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy before poll closed. Trust me I followed tghis religiouosly I didn't leave the computer from 11-17 that day until poll closed. Also we kicked ass on twitter votes.

Yes I took it that seriously I'll admit it. I don't care made March Mayhem fun for me. If more "senior" members got in on it it would probably be a more troll free place.

Valve won it, and it was fair (aside from a few Zynga cheats. And don't give me that look, I'm referring to people who admitted cheating in the threads, like one guy who I believe was permabanned after admitting he and others had set up programs to give 30 votes when they clickd on Zynga's button...). I'm glad Valve won, and as I say, aside from the odd cheat, who was usually caught fairly quickly, it was a fair fight. Both sides used whatever was at their disposal, it's just that Zynga did it more and pissed off a lot of people by doing it non-stop and spamming their own customers with it.

However, I like your theories, especially the last one. I guess when someone inevitably writes a Forum RP, or a game/book/webcomic about all this, they could use those endings as a 'pick-your-own' kind of thing .

i think it was almost the other way around, anyone who genuinely believes that their apps are better than HL2 CS:S and L4D need help.

At first I was like, "What's a Zynga?" and then I looked them up and realized that the developers of Farmville will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be better than the folks who did L4D2. Period.
