Watch Leon Kennedy Die in Resident Evil: Raccoon City Gameplay Trailer
Get a better look at Resident Evil: Raccoon City's gameplay and how it'll break canon in the game's latest trailer.
The Resident Evil: Raccoon City [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108866-Resident-Evil-Raccoon-City-Trailer-Shows-SOCOM-Influence] was a little tough to judge because of a presentation that used quick flashes of gameplay. The second trailer doesn't suffer from the same problem, giving us a great look at how the game will play.
Resident Evil: Raccoon City is a team-based shooter being developed by Slant Six, as opposed to the survival horror style Resident Evil [http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-5-Gold-Playstation-3/dp/B002Z7BE24/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1302918456&sr=8-3] games of the past. It features a co-op story mode with up to four players and a multiplayer mode where players fill the shoes of one of three factions: Umbrella Security Services, U.S. Special Ops, or zombies and bio-organic weapons (B.O.W.).
The game's story mode will cast players as one of four Umbrella Security Service soldiers during the events of Resident Evil 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-2-GameCube/dp/B00007KQC4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302917353&sr=8-1], which as we see in this trailer are something like high-tech ninjas. Yes, players are taking on the role of the bad guys in Raccoon City, and the game will apparently even break canon to allow them to kill notable characters such as Leon S. Kennedy.
The U.S.S. will have everything on the ground in their sights, including the U.S. Special Ops and Umbrella's own out-of-control Tyrants. They seem pretty formidable, using various types of weaponry and even taking zombies as meat shields. The freaky blue eyes don't hurt either, though I wouldn't say "Bertha" is that intimidating of a name.
Resident Evil: Raccoon City is expected in winter 2011 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
