Pretty much this on both points. I cringed somewhat because I was expecting people to take it seriously.

Edit:

I take it neither of you have seen a lot of good anime. Try browsing around this site [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage].

Yeah, that's a pretty good portrayal of anything not on before midnight. All the daytime stuff is this without the obvious fan service.

Does anyone know what the entire "bad translation" phrase is? I can make out "Dead body freezer..." then it sounds like "mog stelophan."
Cthulu Fthagan (or however that was spelled) perhaps? Either way that was pretty damn funny, if a bit overzealous, particularly with the genetalia-shaped stuff. Also

Yaaaay :D

That is an awesome video. I love just how accurate all of the portrayals are for most of the translations...
Boooo. By which I mean that isn't the case that often, take Hellsing for example, that is damn near right on the money (I have seen it both with and without dubs) and, at least to myself, it sounds even more ridiculous without dubs.

Might be funny I guess, the only TV program I really enjoyed in the GTA IV was "Republican Space Rangers" but I might watch this once in game... maybe.

Never once did I say all. Of course there are a lot of good dubs, its just that most don't bother. And even in the case of the good ones, theres almost always that really bad line or 2 that make people cringe.

Besides, another part of it is the ridiculous voice work too. Like the voice for the creepy pink haired girl that sound so wrong in the "dub". As opposed to where they get awesome voicework, like Hellsing.

This takes me back. The very first thing I heard on the radio on the very first mission was the commercial for this thing.
"she has to save humanity......
By sleeping with it.
"YOU ARE ANIME WHORE!"
"EEEH?!?"
I then knew GTA4 was going to be awesome.

It's like a stupid cross between Perfect Hair Forever, some kinda robot anime and a porno anime.
hey speaking of which, i had a question for the escapist

can you get this vacuum cleaner to fuck this cake?

OT, I don't get the appeal of TV shows within a video game. I'd feel like a retard booting up a game, just so I could wheel my avatar over to the couch to plop him down and watch some TV. What next? Maybe in GTA V you get to bring your date back to your place to play Wii Bowling? Yeesh.

Anyone kinda find it ironic that a GTA game is calling out anime for being misogynistic, considering the female characters in GTA games usually run the gamut from "whore" to "psycho whore"?
Well, they do point out that the difference between how old the girl looks and how old she acts. While GTA might not have well-developed personalities, but at least they don't look like kids. I never really had any interest in Lucky Star, but when I found out that all those goirls are eighteen, the series went from crazy to creepy.

"If EENIWAN DOZU NOTO RABU ZA RORUDO JIZASU KURAISTO, RETO HIMU BI AKYUUZUDO O RORUDO KAMU EEMEN"
If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accused O Lord come amen.
Japanese cant say english for $#!7, but then again there is no way to translate english words into japanese without butchering the words, as its a syllable-based language while ours is a character-based language.

I see the appeal but this is a joke, and the joke will get really old after it exceeds the five minute mark. No it is just about right for a three minute sketch or a quick episode. But a series of thirty minute episodes? They would have to expand the property idea so much that there is a good risk it would become what it is satirizing.

Well, in GTA: Vice City, yeah; but in the other GTAs, not really.

GTA 3: Maria (who wasn't a whore or pyscho) and Catalina (pyscho, but not a whore)

GTA 3: SA: Carl's sister (not a whore or pyscho), Catalina again (pyscho, but not a whore as she only really sleeps with Carl).

GTA 4: The Russian mobsters wife, and her daughter, the Irish woman, and Mallorie. None of them whores or pyscho.

And yeah, there are prosistues on the streets of most of these games but, *Gasp* Thats just like the real world! ;)

Princess Robot Bubblegum is one of the new in-game TV shows that will be watchable in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, which hits shelves (and digital distribution) this Thursday.

Also, a reference to kitten huffing [http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Kitten_Huffing] in one of the other videos. Watch the first 20 or so seconds and you should spot it ;)

Methinks the Rockstar crew are bigger nerds than they let on ;)

There's a reason this is funny. It's because of how true it is.
When I can name 20+ anime series off the top of my head which don't really involve any of the cliches being mocked here, I think we can safely say it's not quite as true as you think it is.

That said, it was funny.

Not quite true, in GTA:VC you do have Candy Suxx and Mercedez, but there's also Auntie Poulet, DJ Toni, Amy Sheckenhausen (KCHAT), Michaela Carapadis (Ardent Feminist), Gethsemanee Starhawk Moonmaker, Michelle Montanius (VCPR), Jan Brown, Jenny Louise Crab, the pyromaniac daughter in "Just the Five of Us", the announce of Salivex? Not forgetting the ladies that run Kaufman's or Cherry Poppers.

They may be pretty two dimensional, but seriously, are any of the men any more fleshed out? Especially the Scottish Bi-sexual LoveFist.

True, I'd forgotten about the characters in VC you mentioned (see my post further up, heh).

Anywho, GTA IV, I reckon, is has more 3 dimensional characters, but maybe thats just me.
