Mercer stood in a street full of corpses with his blade arm dripping, an eerie repeat of the scene from the previous night. His rage only grew with every hour that passed uneventfully (for him) and the lower city was suffering a heavy toll for his anger.

Eve tottered a bit as her feet came back in contact with solid ground. "Ye-yeah." she nervously stammered without really hearing what Bryce was saying before shaking her head to focus. "Wait, what's this about armour and claws?" she asked in a perplexed tone.

 

[Chungus]

I had spent yet another night moving around the building my companions were sleeping in, slaying any of the monstrosities that dared get too close. It was an arduous task, as the frequenty with wich they emerged to the surface to hunt increased yet again. Having moved some distance from the building, I found myself standing off against yet another one of the creatures with bloated limbs. I stood, meeting the gaze of its beady, glassy eyes, unblinking. Pulling my sword arm back so that the Soul Reaver stood paralel to my face, I waited for the creature to come to me, so that I might evade its attack and counter it.
Before long, the beast charged at me, its mouth foaming. Waiting for the last moment, I dived forward when it swung its limbs at me, missing me by mere inches and ending up striking the ground with such force, the stone tiles cracked. Imediately, I turned around, deliving a series of quick thrusts, first one to the creatures hip, then just below the shoulder, and finally its side. Thrown off-balance by this, the beast tumbled over, leaving it open for a finishing blow.
Raising the Soul Reaver, the blade humming with anticipation, I thrusted the blade forward, burrying it deep in the chest of the beast. With final howl, its body shatter as if made of glass, its soul devoured by the wraith blade.
My foe felled, I continued onwards.

Holly hummed to herself, making a new stick of TNT in her lap.

Mercer wandered the street, every now and grabbing a small vehicle of the sort the people used in this city, hoisted it up over his head, and then hurled it skyward. The strength of his throws were almost incomprehensible, and the vehicles spun higher and higher before crashing into the electrical field and exploding in a burst of firy and oily black smoke.
"Why... won't... you... fucking... break?!" Mercer screamed after he had thrown over a dozen of the vehicles at it. Wreckage fell in a steady rain of small, charred parts and larger, heavier hulks of burnt out vehicle bodies. Over this noise, he didn't hear footsteps approaching through the otherwise quiet city.

Archimedes rode on a hover board past Bryce. He stopped abruptly and jumped off the board. "This may by far by the best invention I have ever made" He said with a big grin on his face

"Yeah, wings aren't my only trick." Bryce said. "You might recall from when you were getting pulled into the carrier? Snarling, porcelain full body armor, thick claws. Spitting acid. I really am sorry about that, I didn't mean to hurt you."

Making my way through the city, slaying any of the deformed monstrosities as I went, I eventually noted that I found myself in a section of the city, ruined and devoid of life. With my latest foe felled, I took pause to note the state my surroundings. A horrid, yet not unfamiliar sight. Steets littered with corpses, both fresh and in decay, humanoid and mutant alike. Buildings reduced to little more then piles of rubble. Like the vampiric plague did for Nosgoth, this scourge too was slowly, but surely, killing the very world.
Continuing on, I found someone who's face I recognised. It seemed he was overcome by rage. Had he too perhaps been infected? Or was there more to it? I always did find him more the suspicious.

"You there. What is the meaning of this?" I called out, approaching slowly and cautiously.

 

[Random berk]

At the sound of Raziel's voice, Mercer turned around slowly, a sneer of fury on his face.
"Ah, one of the champions of this city in the sky. Where are your comrades today, eh? They were zealous enough yesterday when they so naively tried to kill me. Can they only shake themselves out of lethargy every few days? Or do they just not care about the immediate fates of these people as they do for what might befall themselves in the future?"

 

[Demonjazz]

Archimedes came up to Bryce with his hover board in hand. "How did you get wings. Wait let me guess uh your an alien race that wants to take over the world so your disguising yourself as human"

 

[Chungus]

So the wayfarers had faced this man before? This only furthered my suspicions, if not confirming them completely. As lowly as this man spoke of humanity before, it would certainly not suprise me if he was in fact the one to unleash this Hell, the crime hidden underneath a shroud of righteousness. He was no better then Kain, believing themselves a mesiah, a herald of some greater future. My effort to track down Kain unsecessful so far, striking down this man before me would serve as a adequate substitude.

"Care for the fate of this place? I sincerely doubt you would even recognise empathy I have heard you speak on numerous occasions. Your words are not those of a caring man."

 

[Random berk]

"you're right. I don't feel empathy. I can't. But I know it. And these people who would draw weapons against me in the name of the people that have died in this city are sitting right now in that inn that they've been wasting their days in. They could be in the upper city, either taking control or pressuring the military to help, or they could be out here stopping me themselves. They may have the power to do it." He held his arms out wide, looking theatrically around at the gore-soaked streets, empty except for himself and Raziel.
"So where are they?"

 

[Chungus]

I could not deny the truth in his words. Ever since the plagua had broken out, they had lifted not a finger to quell it, only springing into action when their own lives were at risk. Days had past since our arival in this place, yet nothing had been achieved.

"You are pesponsible for this carnage? Whatever they did or did not do is irralivant. Do not presume to place the blame for your crimes on them. You are responsible for this massacre - this act of genocide. And you would dismiss that simply because they do not fit the image of the good samaritan. That is unconscionable!"

 

[Random berk]

Mercer chuckled.
"Guess there's no point arguing with that now." As he spoke, his right arm slowly mutated into a large blade whose tip he drew in an arc across the cracked tarmac, igniting a stream of sparks. "Question is, are you going to join the others in their hypocrisy?"

 

[FPSfanatic]

Bryce looked over to Archimedes. "It's complicated. Not something I can talk about right now." He looks back, waiting for Eve's response.

"That's exactly what a killer alien would say!" He said took out a dagger from his pocket and tested it's edge

 

[Chungus]

As this man - no - this abomination wearing the face of a man underwent a metamorphosis, changing his arm into a blade, I raised the Soul Reaver in turn and prepared to clash swords.
"No. I will devour your soul before this day is done."
Wasting no time, I thrusted the Soul Reaver forward, unleasing a burst of telekenetic force.
