The power of positive thinking, a Spam sandwich, or a yo-yo made out of taping a smurf to a pull chain from an old-style flushing toilet.

Any of those failing, I've always liked Rygar's diskarmor. Maybe not so much as it was portrayed in the PS2 update of the classic, but it just always seemed to me that it had so much potential as a weapon.

You know, I seem to remember hearing that the majority of hand-to-hand kills in WWI (might have been II, but probably I) were made with shovels.

OT: Brass Knuckles.

Seriously, you never see them in games, movies, anywhere! It's always either bare fists or boxing gloves. Occasionally a full gauntlet. Never brass knuckles.

A nuclear _____. I would have fits if there were more nuke weapons in games. No matter how impractical they may be.
EDIT:
Jedoro's Ulaks would also be acceptable.
Ever played Fallout 3 or New Vegas? If it's nuclear weaponry you want those are the games for it. The Experimental MIRV in Fallout 3 is epic.

OT: A frying pan. Often underestimated is the power of a good frying pan.

Fallout/2/3/NV :3

OT:
I'd love to see more multi-headed flails. Oh sure, you got to use them in the Baldur's Gate-style games and Diablo 2... but they're like the ultimate multi-targetting weapon. You have 3 enemies right infront of you, club them all at once :D

Oh dude... first time I got it, I was like "WOOOOOAHHHHHH, I wonder what it does!?!?!". I'd seen a Fatman before, but I thought it would fire mini-nukes like rockets or something (much further range, more damage, etc)... So I got back to a long tunnel on the way out and let rip... boy was I wrong >.<

games need more of the following as useable weapons:

claw hammers
screwdrivers
bakelite phones
wheel braces
bricks
bricks in socks
blackjacks
fountain pens
chisels
bootknives (as in the flick out blades concealed in shoes, not a knife tucked inside your shoe)
and straight razors
A couple of them are in the Hitman Games. And the Thief games are blackjack mad. It should be "Thi4f: the blackjack age"

Actually, this is a good question as there's not one instance where a certain conventional weapon wasn't used; I've got to come up with something really obscure now.

Why, yes, I am being lazy and just coming up with whatever is in my immediate proximity. How did you guess?

First time I fired it was by accident in the Rivet City market area. That... didn't go so well.

Bows and arrows

or crossbows

Not explosive tip like COD: Black Ops regular arrows. Silent kills. Plus a knife.
+1 for Turok :D

I would have to say Tortoises... yeah, we need more games involving throwing tortoises at people.

ROlled up magazines. If Jason Bourne can kick complete ass with one, why can't our video game characters?

CoDBO (and predesessor)lets you use tac-knives but I've never seen a bayonet. they'd be so useful in an FPS
(NB: I'm not counting the lancer's chainsaw)

Tonfa. Surely the coolest and most graceful martial art weapon? So cooooooooooooool.
Also, I don't see enough throwing knifes. But I do see a lot.

Thats right a god damn Pencil! you see it in movies when the hero stabs a baddy in the neck. But damn it you never see that being used as a weapon in a game.

Actually, Dead Rising lets you use shovels. They even have a special attack.

Maybe it's me, but I haven't seen many games where the main character uses a battle axe as a primary.

Also maybe a pair of wakazashi.
Minecraft too. And Diablo 2's (haven't played 1) barbarian uses an axe.

"hmm, I don't think I have played another game where a whip was a weapon much less your primary weapon".
Obviously you've never played Runescape!....and neither have I...>_>

Uh, maybe a Jack Hammer? Or a flail?

By the way people wanting more Spears and Halberds, play Baldur's Gate. It has pretty much everything, including a sling. Who the hell uses a sling?
I know characters who use a sling. Anyway, I have played runescape while I don't remember a whip it is a little different when you can just click a monster and make a sandwich while your character swings. Also, it is a 32-bit game so it is hard to tell what everything is.
