Wearing socks in bed

Now the reason I'm posting a thread about this is that while I was in Europe touring with a bunch of classmates from highschool, one friend noticed I sleep with socks on. Now, I've been doing this forever, taking off old socks and putting on new ones before I go to sleep, but he seemed to think it was disgusting. Something about not sanitary or something. My response to him was that he was just telling him that he is a germophobic fool.

What do you guys think?

Do you sleep in your socks? Do you think it is a sanitation issue?

I know I certainly think it isn't, especially if you're changing socks before going to bed.

I never thought of it as a sanitary issue. I don't where socks in bed, however.

I've done it before when it was especially cold, but I prefer not to. I don't like wearing anything on my feet if I can help it, so I keep my feet bare.

I only wear socks in bed when it's really really cold. Like now, for instance.
I also don't see how there can be a sanitation issue either, unless you keep on the old socks and not change them.

Well, I only do it whenever I've got fever or it's really cold, but I guess it could be construed as a sanitation issue. Since this way you provide a warm, moist environment with little air flow, kind of a perfect thing for incubation of fungi and bacteria. Cue smelly and itchy feet.

But I'm just speculating here.

I do wear socks to bed when its really cold out... or when my metabalism decides that i dont need body heat and in that case i take every single blanket and or quilt and wrap myself up along with my socks.

You're wierd, bro. That's straight creepy. The only time I ever wear socks to bed is when I'm also wearing boots over em. And even then, I don't like it.

and thats the entire not-sanitary idea about it, socks contain a bunchlot of your sweat, which is a breeding ground for germs. seeing as you put on fresh ones before you go to sleep, no harm done, if you would have gone to sleep with the ones you wore while walking, not so good.
also, i suspect that wearing the in bed makes you less resistant to cold becuase yor body does not have to deal with it ( my girlefriend is always dressed in a large amount of layered clothing, even in bed she used to wear a bunchlot.. and not be warm. then i told her, wear less, its warmer. and indeed it was...il let you figure out the rest but it also worked without 'hankey pankey' XD

I don't sleep with socks on. I think it's a bit strange, to be honest, but it would be more of a comfort issue for me than a sanitation issue.

Yes i wear sock when i go to sleep because...well they keep my feets warm on the cold nights dammit.

Nope, never done it. A friend of mine always sleeps with his socks on when he goes to sleep drunk however this makes his feet itch the whole next day so he doesn't like it.

I imagine it would be incredibly uncomfortable to me. I find it hard to believe, however, that it would be in any way unsanitary.

I wear socks to bed if I'm having difficulty falling asleep, it actually works. Something to do with keeping your extremities warm.
The guy who has a problem with it, should probably have a look at himself sounds like a judgmental intolerant fool.

I can't sleep with socks on. In fact I have trouble sleeping with anything on.

I hate wearing socks and shoes in general which irritates my mom and brothers to no end, my socks get everywhere.

Yeah, I do. Also, I sometimes sleep with my jeans on.

As for it being dirty, no, I don't think it is.

The only time I'll sleep in socks is if I'm at the house of someone who's too cheap to keep the heat at an acceptable level and the blankets aren't thick enough and FOR GODS' SAKES IF YOU'RE GONNA HAVE SOMEONE STAY OVER, PREPARE A FUCKING GUEST BED!
