Weird Sony Viral Video Teasing PS4?

I'll bet it's real, after all, how much stock can we put in Sony's promise that the PS3's life is only half over? Well, I suppose they've never broken a promise before...*cough cough* LINUX *cough cough*

Although I'm glad they showed a realistic reaction to the PS4, insanity (probably followed by seizures and death)

Does anyone remember the PS9 commercial? They did that when the PS2 came out. Wow you people are easy to get riled up.

It's pretty obvious if it isn't fake, that they're trying to state that firmware 3.1 (which is the 3D update most likely) will "blow your mind".

It's also in Japanese, catered to Japanese market. Of course we don't understand what the heck is going on.

Diddo on that, Me and quite a few of the people I know cannot watch 3d any thing it gives us eye ache and major headaches if we force it.
I refuse to see any movie with a 3d only option in theaters EVER. and I will refuse 3d only games.
If the industries, Games, Movies, TV start going towards a required 3d experience, then I will no longer be watching tv, Movies or playing video games.

But isn't the ps3 on firmware 3.3 now.

I wish it was an update that might finally open this thing up. Sony hardly supports the thing at all and what little support that comes along is really weak. I like the games on the ps3 but it has to be one of THE most sandbagged pieces of hardware ever produced.

It could still mean new firmware (and I really hope it does) but I'm doubting that. It's probably promoting their new pay-for-psn scheme which is really stupid to begin with. They have to get their network functioning properly before they can expect us to pay for it.

If I recall the people at playstation said they were done making these type of advertisements, because they felt it just didn't appeal to the mainstream of people. In that case this might just be someone being funny.

If not, I would say it would have to do with whatever they are announcing at E3, which as mentioned is probably going to be 3D.

In theory, it would make a certain amount of sense for Sony to try and steal a march on Microsoft and Nintendo at this point.

So. Put out a PS4 that's fully compatible with the PS3, uses many of the same components, but has more hardware potential than its predecessor. Release it at a relatively minor price hike over the PS3 (say, $100) while continuing to sell the PS3.

Basically try to acquire more market share by releasing a product that people will be unable to deny is superior on the hardware end, without having to invest quite so much in development. Call it a PS3.5 really, but marketing it as the PS4 would let them give at least the impression of a tangible improvement over the current generation.

How exactly one would create a PS4 that uses most of the same components as the PS3 while still possessing significantly greater performance is something I'll leave to the tech types.

Remember this: For every crazy, surreal Playstation ad, there's a normal and very well done one.

I like the overall advertising of Sony a lot, I can understand however how some people wouldn't.

It looks legit and has Sony written all over it, but I very much doubt it'll be a PS4. No way. It's definetely got to do with 3D gaming.

Ironically David Lynch has done a couple PS2 commercials back in the day, they kicked fucking ass.

Ok, if this is a genuine Sony leak, the fact that it's leaked suggests it may not be complete, did nobody else think that it could just be a typo oon the end screen that they'll fix before properly releasing it? i.e. It's meant to read PS3 4.1, which would make a lot of sense as we already know there's new firmware on the way and the current firmware is 3.x (don't know exactly, don't own a PS3).

Point 2; yeah this might be legit teaser for the PS4, and it's not that insanely early, the PS3 was unveiled 5 years into the PS2s 10 year run and released in its 6th year, the PS3 is already approaching 4 years old, so it's only a year ahead of the PS3 reveal. Which really isn't that much of a difference, and they'll keep supporting the PS3 in the same way they supported the PS2.

Or, it could just be a fake. Only time will tell, but don't get your panties too bunched up about it either way.
