a purple diamond. I used to have nightmares about a purple diamond (the shape, not the gem)
I'm not sure what's supposed to scare me about it but it made me feel very small and insignificant. so... yeah... my weird fear was a purple diamond...

At some point around 4-5 i developed a giant fear of the ocean. Going anywhere near the water bothered me. It mightve been due to watching a large amount of PBS specials about the ocean and and its predators. I just know the idea of going out past ankle deep water terrified me.

I still dont like the ocean. A few friends urged me to go out a little during a conference held at Ocean City Maryland, but its not my favorite place to be.

Foil containers.

After watching "The Seeds of Doom","The Green Death" (It's actually buggered up my memory, so I can't even remember which damn episode it's in), Doctor Who episode, I was convinced that all foil containers contained body parts.
I would start crying if I ever saw one.

oh, it was what i watched some horror film. i only remember of it, that kid lived in house or trailer he had a black cat, and little troll (or other creature) would appear at night and go up on blanket hanging out form side of bed and begin to suffocate child (?) and cat was defending the child. Ever since that effing move i was afraid to sleep until i was SURE that no part of blanket or sheets are hanging from bed and climbable.

Okay, two things for me:

1. This.

He stares into your soul. I wanted to get a 64 SOOO bad as a kid... but it took me a year to finally get over that face. Even though my parents were totally willing to get one for me right away.

2. A specific Captain Planet episode.

I originally wasn't going to say this one, but considering some of the other responses so far, I don't feel as bad about this now.

There's an episode of Captain Planet where most of the team gets shrunk down to microscopic size, and Quami drinks them in a glass of water. While inside him, they get attacked by... something. White blood cells or something like that, I can't exactly remember. This scared the crap out of me.

I was afraid of either drinking someone, then having them grow to normal size inside of me, causing me to explode, and of being drank by someone, and attacked by microscopic organisms.

Weird one, I know.

after a dream i had as a child i was always afraid that a hand would reach out of the wall and grab me in my sleep, until i was twelve i had to put cushions and pillows all around the parts of the bed that touched the wall.

and after a different dream i was scared of looking out of a window at night incase there was something staring back at me.

infact the vast majority of things i was scared of were due to my messed up dreams.

Escalators, scared the life out of me. I finally got over it and a friends shoe lace was dragged into one, long story short, he lost two fingers. Guess what I don?t like again!

I was terrified of gorillas/big foot/yeti, etc. I used to have nightmares on a regular basis. However, I was also somewhat interested in the whole idea, so I'd watch documentaries or something and then suffer nightmares because of it!

I had a nightmare once that made me think our VHS player was haunted.

What can i say... i had more life-like dreams as a kid.

When I was really little I was afraid of Raggedy Ann dolls, and later on I was afraid of E.T a little bit (his cornfield scene ruined me).
