Weirdest Phone Calls You've Ever Received

At one point, I kept getting calls from people who wanted to know technical specifications of windows. That is, actual windows. The ones you put into houses. Apparently, my number had ended up on some technical support type of call list. Once, I kept the call going for a good 20 minutes, asking about precise measurements and the intended application and what not, until I ran out of steam and had to admit that I have no fucking clue what I'm talking about.

No more calls after that, so I assume they removed me as an authority on the subject.

We get calls from IT scams from time to time and if I had the time I would go along with them and just mess up all the time, force them to repeat instructions and stuff. I have however answered the phone once with "hello, Fish and Chip shop" thinking it was my dad but it was someone else and she ignored what I said anyway. twas Hawkward.

We used to always be getting calls from an elderly lady who wanted to speak to "Evelyn." Apparently she could never get the number right. Got the calls for years, but they've stopped in the past five years or so.

I sometimes wonder what happened to her, and it makes me sad to think that her passing away is probably the reason we don't get calls from her anymore.

My boss calls me sometimes, usually asking me weird questions about bisexuals/lesbians. Most of the time around an hour before work! I adore her but sometimes she makes me wonder... xD

So, she's starts her drinking early, I take it?

I once found a message on my phone from a very angry-sounding man ranting at someone named "Emily". I didn't know him or any Emily, so I didn't call back.

I was studying in the library when I received a call from an unknown number. When I picked it up, couple of girls began to sing Happy Birthday.

My friends overheard it and I had to tell them that it wasn't my birthday while the girls were singing.
After I let the girls finish their song, I managed to let out "Thanks!"

Then the girls panicked and hung up.

When I was between jobs, I got a call at about 3am from a ski resort in Canada about a bar tending gig. I can't remember the specifics, given that it's been over 5 years ago now, and I wasn't exactly aware at the time, but apparently Aussie bartenders are valued overseas. I checked out the offer when I woke up, and it was legit, I just never applied in the first place. A bit bizarre to say the least.

I keep getting called by an organization collecting money for charity. I checked them up quite recently and it seems like they keep 80% of what they collect. It makes me really uncomfortable because they call a lot and I don't want to talk to them.

I have also had someone call me 3 times where I told them they had the wrong number each time. Once someone called asking if she was talking to her grandmother.

Once my dad called and he and an entire group sang happy birthday to me without saying anything else. I happened to be really drunk at the time so it was a little weird.

Well I did once get spammed for a full week with messages from a local car shop, telling me that my Mazda is done with service. I don't even have a car, so I told them. But I still kept getting messages for a full week.

Oh yeah. We have this weird thing now with fake kidnapping calls. I had this one guy call me up and insist that he had "my daughter" and I should pay him $5000 if I wanted her back. Was quite amusing.

But the weirdest must be one time when a friend pocket-called me. He was very obviously driving his car and listening to the radio, after a while he burst out singing to the tune. It was quite embarrassing for him, and then his dog in the back seat joined in, howling. I just stood frozen on a busy street listening attentively to this and laughing my nuts off.

I produce a morning talk radio show (after working all night at the radio station) and we get pocket dialed all the time. People program us into speed dial to win the crap we give away from time to time, and thus the multitude of pocket dials. I will generally turn it up on the board in the audition channel and record it. I have some pretty good "phone in my pants or purse greatest hits." I sometimes turn on the recording and forget about it. I've had more than one time where I recorded over 3 hours of audio off a pocket dial. Hope he had unlimited minutes.

But I get very weird calls overnight. I have to settle a lot of drunken bets. People call me to tell me about the ghosts and UFO's they have just seen. There's a poor woman on the phone right now who suffers badly from Aphasia. She speaks English, but can't string a meaningful sentence together. I just have to kind of listen and say "uh huh." But she'll keep talking until I have too much work to do and I'll say I've got to take another call. I'm not sure if she likes me or hates me, but she does call a couple of times a week. Other than that people just call to complain. I always tell them the same thing. "If I could change anything around here do you really think I'd be working OVERNIGHTS? Call back during business hours and you might get someone important."

I get phone calls from a guy who just speaks utter jibberish. Not like a different language mind you. He actually sounds like he's just making weird incoherent noises like an animal, mostly vowels few consonants.
It always freaks me out so whenever he calls I answer the phone and then hang up immediately.

I once got a call from a woman who thought she had called her husband.
Shit got kinky real fast and all I said was "Hello".
After about thirty seconds of this I just said "Umm, I think you have the wrong number." she then frantically apologized and told me that she meant to call her husband.

Needless to say, I don't use my land line much.

OT: Another weird call was when the morgue called me and said that my urn was ready. Not that I could pick somebodies urn up, literally that MY urn was ready...

Sadly, I've had the pleasure of that. Talk about awful. Thankfully, mine was mostly inbound... I'm glad I never had to try and sell things. More along the lines of customer support. For Credit Cards.

On my home phone I think the weirdest was the calls we kept getting to remind us that our tree and shrub appointment was coming up but I too worked in a call center and came across some weird stuff.

Let's see I think my favorites are the rather nice but addled older man who kept getting calls on his cell for a detective agency that had misprinted their fliers. Then there was dealing with phone problems. I wasn't tech support but could talk though basic things like power cycling the phone and making sure it's programmed right I don't know how many people I had that would cut out the instant I told them to power cycle the phones they said they weren't on and then there was one man who argued with me that his phone did not have or need a battery to work and that I clearly didn't know my job and he wanted to speak to my supervisor.
