Also "I hate Bayonetta, it's just like God of War, but with tits."

No. No it is not. And the sooner you get that through your skull, the better.
Exactly. It's just like Devil May Cry, only with slightly more tits.

I want to try Assassins Creed II or Brotherhood but I just can't get past the godawful Italian accents.

I know they're in Italy but I've seen plenty of Italian movies and I know nobody talks like that. It's like they got Mario's voice-actor to voice everyone.
Fairly sure you could just play them in straight up Italian with subtitles... don't know, would that make it more appealing?

OT: Hammer space and 'trousers' (see Yahtzee's review of DA:O). It was the one thing I didn't like about Mass Effect (and a number of other otherwise really good RPG's).
I'm confused Mass Effect doesn't use hammer space...

OT: Multiplay based games, and ANY MMO's. I don't want to have to sit through 20 god awful hours of grinding before WOW DECIDEDS that I have wasted enough of my life to start having fun. Also, for Multiplayer based shooters, such as COD 4 and Combat Arms (not the Halo games though, despite ignorance, they do have a strong single player as well) I do NOT want to use the worst weapons for 7-ish hours while dying every 3 seconds before I can compete against other players on an level playing field. What happened to the good old days when anyone, young, old or newbish, could jump right into a game and have access to EXACTLY the same equiptment?

Gears of War series. Too "Brotastic" for my tastes.

And the Kingdom Hearts series. Got into it after my disney phase, couldn't stand the duck spluttering everywhere.

The wierdest reason I've ever got is my sister's usual "video games promote violence blah blah blah" bullshit. Well I suppose that's not wierd but it's really annoying. I showed her Portal to prove that not all video games are violent.
She also was giving crap to one of the characters in Dragon Age: Origins. Though I agreed with her on this one cos the dude was being a pansy

This is the same friend that didn't like Bioshock because "you spend too much time underwater"
What. The. Fuck?
Well I suppose you could say that you do spend a lot of time under water, but only in the same sense as you could if the game took place on a submarine.

OT: "His eyes are the wrong colour" *facedesk*
C'mon, you all know what I'm talking about.

I once didn't play a game for years because the case looked gay. It then turned out to be my favorite game of all time. Final Fantasy IX.

I don't like Bayonetta because people won't shut up about it. What I've seen of the game didn't fascinate me, but I thought I might give it a try anyway. However, all the people who hold it up on a podium so often on this site just turned me off of it for some reason. It's a dumb reason but there's your answer.

What annoys me about the CoD series is that the guns feel weak as hell. I know, maybe not everyone agrees with me, but they just feel and sound like pea shooters. Now I know in real life guns don't take heads and limbs off and insta-gib if you put a 9mm slug in someone's leg, no, it's just the feel of shooting and loading them, has no weight or recoil. I think even Counter-strike 1.6 guns had a better feel to them (anyone remember zooming in the Sig 552, that slow chunky crack you get instead of full-burst? And the silenced M4? Even the USP? yummy)

I also don't like over-the-top cheesy tough guy stuff, didn't mind it so much when I was young, but GOW 2 and Bulletstorm just made me cringe, many times. And I couldn't get more than an hour through Army of Two because of that fact alone. I think I turned the console off when you do that synchronized sniping bit, and pull the trigger at the same time. And then they do this corny hand-slapping bullshit.

Maybe not entirely relevant as a "hate" as I still play and finish lots of CoD games, and GOW2 and Bulletstorm.

for me it can be one tiny little thing that puts me off a game if it happens at the wrong time. i didn't play fallout 2 for over a year because i hated the tribe-beginning and then found a desert eagle and was so disappointed that they used real weapons.

i hated mafia 2 not because the game was meh overall but because you could carry every weapon, the system for carrying guns in mafia 1 was so great(i just like games where you drop guns because you run out of ammo and pick up new ones).

I absolutely hate Dragon Age and have only played like 30minutes of it. Why? Because it isn't Baldurs Gate 3. Call me petty but Ive never gone back to it because it disappointed me so much(and im not even sure how)

The Mass Effect series because... Well I honestly have no idea I just hate everything about it while still thinking it's not actually a bad game series.

I don't like Bioware's games because of the haphazard way they handle gay relationships in their games.

In Mass Effect, it wasn't just the absence of gay relationships, it was how they tried to justify their absence (As well as their reasons for taking them out, if the rumors are true...). Them saying the blue chick was asexual or whatever so it "counts" didn't help.

Dragon Age went in the complete opposite direction. They gayed the game up, throwing it all in your face, and saying 'DEAL WITH IT.' It just seemed like they were either trying to make amends for the Mass Effect deal or if that was just their way of being antagonistic, like them saying "You want fags in this game? WELL HERE YOU GO!" The characters who were gay were pretty awful too, but I blame that mostly on them being written by a woman.

Yeah, I know these reasons are weird and petty and I'm probably missing out but whatever.

The weirdest reason I've seen is from my girlfriend, who won't play the Dragon Quest games because she doesn't like Dragon Ball Z. I've tried explaining to her that the only thing they have in common is the same artist, but she won't budge.

As for me, the weirdest reason is that I won't play Fatal Frame or Silent Hill because they don't use jump scares and that is the only real scare tactic that gets to me.

I think any reason for not liking a game are okay, its our opinions/taste/idea at the time. We want fun, and we each have our idea of a fun time. Not all games fit.

it may not be the weirdest, but I didn't like Oblivion cause of the "I'm staring at your soul" conversations
I don't like it because I think the character models are ugly.
That's the pettiest reason I've ever had for not liking a game, but that's the biggest reason why I can't play Oblivion for too long.

I can't get into the uncharted games beacuse they are too much like a movie. If I wanted to watch a movie, I'll just watch a movie. I couldn't get past that.
I also didn't play FPS games until recently (I blame Minecraft) beacuse I didn't like not being able to see the person I'm playing as.
