As for me, the weirdest reason is that I won't play Fatal Frame or Silent Hill because they don't use jump scares and that is the only real scare tactic that gets to me.
How do jump scares defeat Atmosphere and tension...I'm generally interested they are repetitive sometimes predictable and worst of all It's just not good horror, things jumping out of closets going Rawr.

Also don't you just get desensitised to them anyway...(especially in games like Dead Space were it occurs almost constantly)

/rantover

But as I said Generally interested...

Hmm let me think here, I don't play horror games, or games with a slight creep factor, I'm a massive wuss (female, just to make me sound less masculine and girly) I couldn't play though Bioshock because of all the enemies hiding in dark areas, I really want to play it tho :(
Also Oblivion I really like Oblivion and could play it for ages but for some reason it always grates on me and I just can't bring myself to play it anymore :/

Oh and I have a friend that pushes out a few gems everytime we discuss a game that isn't Counter strike source or EVE online. Ones I can remember right now are:
-Refuses to play Guild Wars2 (when it releases) because if you save a town you can't 'control the town and become the mayor or ruling politician of said town' WTF!!!?
-Refused to even look twice at minecraft because it had 'shitty graphics, that's how you can tell if any effort has been put into a game'
can't remember the rest but you get the general idea, then again I shouldn't be surprised about this guys' opinion on games if he still desperately clings to EVE defending CCP after their little....episode..
:p

Oblivion: I had to jump up and down casting unlock at a wall for an hour to get my skill high enough to open a treasure chest in a cave that I knew I would never return to... well, I didn't have to jump up and down (or sneak around in circles) while I was doing it, but I figured I might as well kill two or three birds with one stone....

"Because it's Japanese."

That's what my friend told me when he saw me play a game he was interested in but dismissed when he heard it was a localised game from Japan.

*facedesk*

EDIT: Here's a gem from my dad:

He saw me play alot of TF2 and stuff like Nazi Zombies in Black Ops.

"Meh, I don't like it." "Why?" "It isn't realistic."

I can't get past the control mechanics (stick and button layouts make no sense for me in any config) and the fact you can't move and shoot in RE5. Or, I believe any of the Resident Evil games for that matter. I mean, WTF is that about and I don't want to hear it's the fear factor. Can't get past that, won't play it, hate it. That sucks too because I so wanted to like and play it. The graphics are great, too. C'est la vie.

weirdest reason i didn't like a game. hmmm... i guess the time i was forced to play an old math game in elementary school computer class. I had played that game by myself on multiple occasions. but then one day we (the class) were informed that we had to play the game, as in if we didn't play that game we would be in trouble and either given an infraction/detention or sent to the principal's office. After that i hated that game. Somehow being made to play it by force sucked the fun out of it, stuck to Oregon Trail and Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego.

It's terrible to say but I've been having a hard time playing Assassin's Creed 2. Not because of the accents or anything but because of that god awful beginning where we run around Ezio's life for like an hour or more even though I definitely recall a trailer or commercial spoiling what happened. And even if it didn't it had "bad shit about to go down" written all over it. It just continues to bug me while I play, it took me out of the game that they try to make care or whatever the goal was in establishing that. I'd constantly sit there wondering what the point was in that lame quick-time-event "sex scene". I just...why that is there is completely beyond me. It's a stupid reason, I know buut I guess that's the point in posting here xD

I also don't know the (loosest definition of the word) storyline for AC2 and onward since I haven't played them but my friends tried to tempt me in continuing to play because aliens are somehow involved. And I'm sorry to everyone who enjoyed that but that's not an incentive for me to play or care D: in fact that makes me Indiana-Jones-Aliens scared to continue. It's a shame, I loved the first game but I don't think I'll be finishing the series.

Ex girlfriend liked it so I in turn HATE IT!
Ha, that's the exact reason I hate Guild Wars (and by extension, other MMOs). My ex was insane about them (and neglectful to me because of this), so I refuse to touch them. My current boyfriend had the same thing happen to him, but he thinks I'm crazy for hating them.

I will forever love the person who can tell me the name of this game.

I bought a game on the recommendation of an employee at a local game store and returned it the next day cause... "the dude runs funny"

It was some spy/action shootery thing. On the xbox I think. Project something or other I think. I dunno.

Let's see, here's one I came up with today.

I played the Space Marines demo. I don't like it. Why? Too much gore, couldn't see the action. Blood kept fogging up the screen.

I also didn't like Halo 3 all that much. I'm supposed to be a friggin' super soldier, why can't I jump off cliffs and survive? It worked with a bomb.

The weirdest reason to hate a game I heard came in two parts.

1. Someone who said that no iron sights would make Half Life 3 not relevant in today's world. >_<...Bullshit.

And 2. Someone who said that iron sights would ruin the whole game of Half Life 3. >_<....Also, bullshit.

Half Life makes me a little bit nauseous.

I wish it didn't, because beyond that it's a fine game.
Actually, thats not wierd at all, and in fact many people have the same problem.

I hate when games make that side to side swaying when you sprint, like in borderlands, for somereason, that just hurts my eyes, or makes me motion sick, i can't remember which, but by judging how i got by portal 1+2 just fine, im going to guess it just hurt my eyes a lot. I know games are going for realism, but do you really need to shake your head like that every step you take in a sprint?

I don't like some FPSs that don't let you aim down the sights. I don't know why, games like Left 4 Dead or TF2 would be ruined if they added sights, but I really like sights in games that aren't fast-paced.
I'm the same way.

It feels much more natural to me.

OT: The Battlefield Series because of the fans.

I've never heard one person, not one, say that it was gonna be a good game. All I've heard is that it's going to be better than CoD.

Is that how we are measuring games nowadays? Them being better than other games?

I don't like El Shaddai because it beat me to death with ads. And they weren't even good ads, either.

my friend dislikes half life 2 because of this:

me "look it has an awesome story and it is far superior to any shooter out there!"
my friend "well, i dont like shooters so its not even worth my time"
me "but the storys really good!"
him "what, walk down a corridor, shoot some people and then get a 5 second cutscene? yeah im not falling for it"

didnt know what to say just then

I liked Fable 2. But I've stopped playing it for the exact reason I thought I never would--the bright, vibrant areas. In a world of gray and brown, I didn't hesitate to pick up Fable 2 after seeing a screenshot of Oakfield (also, it remains the only fantasy game I have that isn't Brutal Legend, which, on consideration, is a music game, not a fantasy one). But their god-awful "motion blur (read: afterimage)" technology made my head hurt whenever I wanted to sprint, which, naturally, was all the time. Combining such a high bloom effect with fast movement on regular occasion is never a good idea.

I LOVED the concept of Brutal Legend (upon playing the demo) but after watching a friend play through it... RTS mode, RTS mode, RTS mode. Killed it for me. Completely. I don't mind RTS but I had high hopes for a heavy metal hack n slash bloodbath game only to be slapped with running back and forth across a field commanding minions and gathering resources v.v

Also, I had a friend a long time ago that didn't like Final Fantasy because: "Why do they stand still 10ft from each other and only run up to attack once, then run 10 ft back to their place??"
