Wish i could speak to those that believed in the end of the world, those that left their job, spent there money and got rid of all their belongings. Especially those that traveled to that mountain to be rescued by aliens. I would love to be there and say "So how do you feel?" lol. Especially now they are stuck in a foreign country with no money. hee hee.

The fact some people really believes this based only on what they heard from a friend or the internet just shows how irrational people are.

That said, I'll be very embarrassed if the end actually does come.

If it does, my prediction:

I....I expected the worst and spent the early morning dancing naked to Jamiroquai with a bottle of Sake.......I thought it would be a cool way to go out.

Still the 20th in Hawaii, although I'm less worried of an actual apocalypse happening. It's more likely that someone will attempt to do something tragically stupid in light of the significance we're putting on that day...

So its the 21st here in New Zealand. Seems as though we haven't all died yet as predicted.

Thoughts? Anyone here genuinely surprised?
The Mayans didn't live in your time zone.

NEVERTHELESS, this is all entirely silly. IN FACT, I will state so officially.

So, yeah. I was thinking about playing Halo tomorrow, but maybe I'll play Minecraft.
Dunno.

Seriously, 2012 is way too soon in the century. Can't have an apocalypse half-baked; we didn't even add in the crazy monk accountants yet. Ain't no proper apocalypse without crazy monk accountants.

Captcha: happy lappy.

By the timezone Mayan's were going with, we still have about six hours before the date changes. You New Zealenders are too far ahead of that.
So the world will end on the 22nd for us?

Neat.

(Also it is 14:17 NZDST 21/12/2012 right now).

Damn you, it's not the 21st here in the U.S.A yet! I was working very hard to avoid spoilers!

But in all seriousness, I'm not surprised. Though I have to say, this, along with all the other "apocalypses" that were supposed to happen that I've survived, will make my life seem WAY more interesting if I ever have grandchildren to tell stories to.

I want to know which 21st it is. American or Australian since they predicted it in America and they're what 12, 16 hours behind us?

I got my fingers crossed for zombies, at least then we can still EVENTUALLY rebuild society.
they're 13/14 hours behind me here on the Aussie East coast (depending on whether you are in NSW or QLD)

It is still the 20th in the Mayan part of the world. You Aussie may even make it to he 22nd.
I don't think Australia would quite make it, i think we'd fall a few hours short

I'm fairly certain Hitler will rise from the grave and ravage the world with exploding cheesecakes any time now.

While I am not surprised, the Mayans lived in GMT or Central time, where it is 7 and 6 pm on the 20th.

I'm not really predicting the impending apocalypse.

Ah man. I first heard about the 21/12/12 nonsense on a skeptic podcast in 2008. Going by what the internet says, I thought a lot of people believed this nonsense and I was sincerely looking forward to seeing the new-agers and conspiracy nutters receiving a dose of reality.

But as it turns out, while a lot of them talked about it, very few of them actually believed it, depriving me of my schadenfreude. It's not like the Harold Campbell nonsense, where the media could gleefully visit his compound and laugh at him and his silly followers. The true believers have mostly kept to themselves, depriving me of my chance at heckling them (yes I'm not a good person, but in the run up to 2012 I got so sick of hearing about this 2012 nonsense that I really wanted to see some UFO/New-Age/Doomsday-types get their big dose of disappointment).

Oh well - I'll content myself with a visual image of some bearded survivalist glumly realizing that the thousands of dollars he spent on his shelter has come to nothing. As he sadly looks up at his calendar reading the 22/12/12, he'll sadly remark "All those canned beans.... what will I do.... with all these canned beans?"

For those talking about a solar alignment.

Doesnt look like an alignment to me.
Though it can make a pretty niffty lookin' pentagram.
Then a nice little arrow pointing to the centre of it.
If this isn't a sign of doomsday I don't know what is, pfft "science" or something?
Pluto's not a planet, so no pentagram for us.
