Probably because youtubers don't have the same level of media exposure as more traditional celebrities that would prompt them carefully consider what their actions might do to their public image. Also, they don't have like agents and shit that could cover up stuff like this.

I was asking a question as indicated by the ? at the end of the last word there. That means I was unsure of that fact. Not sure how that counts as an accusation. Anyhow, my basis for the question was seeing a tweet about his wife referencing nudes that his mistress had sent him in which she appeared ashamed according to his ex wife. Not quite the logical leap you're making it sound like.

As for the "grooming" thing, this was a 16 year old from what I read which is the age of consent in a lot of locations. It's not like he was into prepubescent children or something but people are behaving like he was.

Age of consent in most countries where it is lower then the age you are considered an adult (mostly 18) is usually only applied to other people who are not adult. Which basically means that a 16 year old and a 17 year old can bone it out all they want, but if a 20 year old was to have sex with the 16 year old, they are performing statutory rape. This is to protect children, albeit old children, from the predatory nature of sleazy adult assholes.

Even if sending sexual content to a 16 year old isn't explicitly illegal in Jared's jurisdiction (in some countries it'd be a grooming or a statutory sexual offense, as there are many ways an adult can coerce a child into 'accepting' sexually explicit material), it is still in extremely poor judgement and sleazy as hell. It is damning with faint praise if the best that can be said is that it isn't really illegal, just a sign of really poor character and judgement.

Sure, that much I agree with. The tendency I'm deflecting here is one where people don't differentiate between something being creepy and something being a mental illness that's actually unnatural.

I have this metaphor I like about such cases. Imagine you're at a wedding and they bring out the wedding cake. The cake is done and is edible and delicious. It's still incredibly socially unacceptable to walk up to the dais and stick your finger in it and have a taste, despite it being ready to eat. Society deems it rude. You have to wait until the wedding is done and the cake is cut up and you are given your piece, then you're allowed to eat it.

There is literally nothing wrong with finding the uncut cake appetizing. It's not the same as eating the raw dough. Society just arbitrarily decided it's rude to not wait until it tells you it's right to eat the cake. People too often like to behave as though it's unnatural to ever find the cake appetizing in any stage before it's cut though, and that's completely irrational to me. People confuse self control and constraint for "normalcy" too much. Just because it'd be incredibly rude to ruin a wedding cake before the couple has exchanged their vows, that does not mean that the desire to do just that is in any way wrong or abnormal, it's just something you obviously do not do cause you're socialized right and if someone does do it they will justly become a pariah. Not someone who has sick urges but someone with simply too low degrees of self-control.

As I said, I just skimmed through some of his videos: vs. Hey, you Pikachu!, vs. Dark Souls and his MegaMan X stream. Watched some of his reactions, his comments and his jokes.

I just watched vs. Sonic Adventure 2 fully to have a more direct comparison. He spends the first 13 minutes reciting the game's story. 5 minutes in, and I'm falling asleep (partially because of sleep deprivation, but that's besides the point). Then it gets into the gameplay and it's like I'm watching a school presentation about the game's instruction manual. 30 minutes in and we arrive to presentation (no, not school presentation; I mean graphics, animation, voice acting, music, etc) and, well, I hear his words of appreciation and criticism, but he still sounds like he is reading from a grocery list. Yes, he has jokes to make it more funny, but for the most part his tone sounds detached.

Well he's not necessarily playing a character like Nostalgia Critic, AVGN, and Jontron.

That has little to do with it. Just the the structure and the pacing of the review alone makes it more tedious than it should.

PS: No matter how authentic he may seem, he won't be the same in person. In vs. Mega Man X he shows he has already developed a brand image (and that aside, it's a better video than his vs. Sonic Adventure 2 because of pacing and structure).
