Western Catherine Box Art Covers Up the T&A (for Some)

I don't really care about American box art. Us Aussies are never affected by it, we get the good box art over here. Even if the cover was just a pink slate with "Catherine" on it, it doesn't change the content of the game. And I'm perfectly fine with that, as long as they don't chop the game to bits I don't have an issue.
I do hope the covers are double sided though. I will be buying the PS3 version but I would much prefer to have Katherine on my cover than Catherine. Pink hair and glasses? She was practically designed to get my attention!

Hopefully they'll just make a reversible cover so people don't have to worry about which cover they get.

hopefully nothing else gets changed. knowing atlus' track record of putting green penises with tentacles in chariots and having an item called sticky white stuff most likely the only change will be the romanization

Yes the Internet is circular, because I think Yahtzee said it best already: American Box Art Sucks [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/extra-punctuation/8631-Extra-Punctuation-American-Box-Art-Sucks]. Add this to the pile under the "Think About the Children" category.

I'm relieved that I read this article before going on a hate rant, but I still might. Amazon US won't ship to me in the UK. Which means I'd get the censored version from gamestop instead, which is very annoying. ARGHHHHH

Hmmm... One solution is to have the original box art, but also have those cardboard sleeves to go over top, that have the censored images on them. That way, gamers can have the uncensored box art, and retailers can have the "kiddie friendly" box art. Personally, I don't think that the box art should be censored, because it's going to cause a lot of confusion. Parents are going to buy it for their kids, not reading the game description, not looking at the rating, then start screaming at everyone and everything that they were mislead and it's all the game companies fault... a la Grand Theft Auto. Oh well. Whatever they decide, I hope that I can at least get the original box art. And if some unsuspecting kid does get the game by accident, well, they'll learn to never ever cheat on your girlfriend/boyfriend, and their parents will never ever have to start a sentance with "When a man and a woman love each other very much..." XD

I'm gonna pre-order this still. I don't even care about that as much as I want to know what the hell is going on with this game, and why there are sheepmen.

Good or bad, I'm intrigued.

And yes, DOA is a game about sexy women playing beach volleyball - but they're not doing it topless, and they're not doing it seductively (never played the game, so i'm just assuming).

Not at all.
*ROFL*

Never seen that trailer before despite playing the game. Thanks for sharing, that made my day.

It's not an RPG.

Also they hate Nintendo because the Wii is underpowered and waggle-obsessed.
Oh it's not... excuse me, I'm stupid and don't do my research. Still it's an Atlus game so it's probably a good one.
It was the same story with the last generation, the gamecube was more powerful than the PS2 but the majority of good third party developers worked for the PS2. It was a retorical question; I know why, Nintendo treated their third parties like crap. I hope the PS3's price drops quick so I can play this game.

For anyone wondering, Catherine barely earned a high teen to low M rating (CERO gave it a C). Anyone saying it is a porn game, thanks for jumping to conclusions!
Yes, but this is the U.S. we're talking about. As a country we're so prude that anything with even light sexual themes is misconstrued as being graphic.
If the Duke only nets a M then I'm confident that the ESRB will actually play the game before they rate it. Duke Nukem had AO written all over it. I have a little faith.
The content gap between M and AO is very wide and it would be very odd for either that god-awful Duke game or Cathrine to get an AO rating. The content for an AO rating has to have "prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity" (official descriptor [http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp]). Seeing as games like God of War didn't fit this rating description, I find it extremely unlikely that Cathrine will fall under this rating.
Still, the ESRB does hate Atlus. Persona 3 and 4 get a B rating while they get hit with a M from the ESRB for no reason. We'll have to wait and see.
I wasn't aware that P3 had an M rating. I mean really, seriously? WTF

I don't see how it is anything higher than a T. What game did the board play?

[blockquote]The vast majority of copies available at launch will feature the cover we originally unveiled, essentially the Japanese cover of the game. A small percentage of copies, however, will feature a cover that is more considerate of certain retailers' broader customer demographic. Fans need not worry; Catherine's cover art is NOT being altered for North America. There is just an extra option being made available for more sensitive shoppers.[/blockquote]

What a wasted effort. The game is completely adult, based on what little I know about it. So the sort of person who would want a tamer cover would not be playing this game. This is stupid beyond any possible reason.

I believe it's so some retailers (wall mart for instance) won't have to be afraid of offending other customers who happen to see the cover (ultra-protective moms pherhaps?). I can't imagine another reason.

Let's hope that because of these covers that some idiot buys this game for their nine year old, then.

Why does this game get some much attention ? It sounds awfully boring and its only selling point seems to be "sexy" characters.
