I just started researching this a bit more closely, and I have to admit it looks impressive.

What are you thoughts? Do you think it will live up to the hype or will it die off as quickly as Warhammer Online?

I think that it's going to have it's share of flaws.

It'll be hard to pull off an FPS/MMO/RPG.

I'm looking forward to it, mostly because I'm a bit of a 40k nerd. I am convinced that PVP, if there is any (and there has to be, since after all in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war) will be hilariously one-sided since everybody will want to be a Space Marine.

I don't think so... Who wants to be a Space Marine when they can be Chaos! Although personally I'd pick Eldar...

I'm definitely going Chaos, especially if it lets me be a noise marine. Guns that shoot rock and roll, motherfuckers!

ORKS ARE DA MEANEST AND DA STRONGEST!

Just had to say it.

And yes, it looks freaking awesome! I want it. And if I bought it, thats two Warhammer MMOs I own.

I'd choose Space Marines and I might have another character as an Ork because they're awesome.

Orkz have the potential for awesomeness if you can scrap stuff and customize your gear...

Weapons belonging to other races should be usable by anybody, no matter what side they're on, except that ork weapons only work when used by an ork, since that's how it goes in the fluff. Their weapons aren't actually functional but such is the power of the waaagh that the orks believing the guns will fire is enough to make them work.

I would love to play it, then again I liked WAR so my tastes in MMOs are rather bad I guess.

Being a guardsman in a galaxy of untold horrors sounds like a way to ensure you die. A lot. Painfully.

I think it would be alot of fun personally, in RL one would shit themselves and write a last will before signing into the Imperial Guard...but being a single pure human in a universe of monsters, beasts, and mental horrors would be satisfying on the grounds of increased coop play between groups of people to do normal things, it could work! But I just like the realistic idea of being a human shield rather than some superwarrior who never ages.

It looks awesome but it's probably doomed to failure, just like Fallout Online.

Whether you think it'll be a good game or not, you can't deny that The Old Republic is going to be incredibly popular. All the WoW players who now know that they like MMOs will see the Star Wars license and flock to it. Unfortunately, I feel like any MMO coming out within a year of it is going to be overshadowed.

Dark Millenium is going to encounter the same problems WAR did. Because Warcraft essentially ripped off Warhammer's universe, WAR felt too similar to WoW for most and they left. It didn't bring anything especially new to the table; it just did WoW's job very well.

There's very little in that trailer that couldn't satisfactorily be replaced by Imperial Agents and Jedi to someone who isn't already a WH40K fan. I think that by the time The Old Republic comes out, this game won't stand out enough to pull people into it.

It's a shame, especially because this game looks amazing.

If they actually pull this off, it could be the first subscription-based MMO I'll play.

I would actually be quite surprised if you weren't able to play as Guard. However I would think that the starting classes for them would be like Catachans, Commissars, and the like.

OT: I am actually really looking forward to this. I personally liked WAR until all my friends went back to WoW and I swore I would never touch that thing after the first trial. And once I hit the endgame nobody in my guild wanted to do any dungeons or raids. And this is when Land of the Dead just came out the week before. So if I can get some friends from anywhere it'll probably last longer. (for me at least)

Edit: And is it just me, or would it be fucking awesome to be a tech adept out of Dark Heresy.

Wait what? Warcraft ripped of Warhammer? Warcraft was a RTS game with only 2 rival factions when it first came out, and if anything they both ripped off Tolkien views of mystical creatures.....

First thing i saw wrong in the Video was the footage of 4 Imperial Guards standing around....Imperial Guards come in droves...and i didn't see any dead bodies of Imperial Guards laying around. The footage looks to cartoony and kid friendly. As a long time 40K collector that at most browsed over some of the History of 40k, one thing that definitley does not come to mind is kid friendly....Read the Story Karn the betrayer....or even Fabius Bile...

I'm a big 40k nerd and I'm trying not to get too excited about this game, but secretly I can't wait! I still think I'd want to play a trial or beta before I actually buy it though.

The graphics don't look all that different from the style of the RTS game, and that worked beautifully in my opinion.
