What are some non-electronic hobbies I can start for under $100?

SCUBA..... Snorkeling!
Just get some used fins, a mask, and a snorkel.
Don't go looking for the super good stuff, I spent $90 on my SCUBA mask alone, plus it was $50 for my snorkel. You can buy cheap ones for about $35 combined. Fins are a LOT of expensive (Decent ones are $175) but you don't need super good ones until you decide you want to keep it up as a hobby. Besides, the bad ones make you work really hard, and that helps you build up muscles in your legs and burn calories.

Under NO circumstances take up car rebuilding as a hobby. I got my project car for $250, but I am $2100 into repairs, and she is STILL not roadworthy. It is fun though...

My best suggestion, get invested in a cool book series, just start searching the internet or even your local book store's, your bound to find something interesting.

As much as I love the game, I don't suggest Magic. If you get into it, that first 30$ will quickly turn into $300 as new sets come out/ you draft more/ etc etc etc.

Reading. Books can be borrowed from the library for FREE. They can be purchased used for a few dollars and new for about 9 and up!
I personally collect Star Wars books:

www.sfbc.com has a great deal (I have gotten books at members discount, brand new, hardcover, for only $15.99), plus, when you join, you get your first five books for $5 plus shipping.

Painting/drawing I'm rubbish at both so I dont do them a whole lot. I'm thinking of getting some form of music editor or something along those lines and mucking around with it to see what I can make with.

Summer and a shitload of free time are coming my way :D

Join a DnD group with people who already have the books. My brother and I cover our DnD group expenses, but the other people havent spent a single dime on our campaigns.

About two years ago I would've recommended drinking. But these days, why don't you try cooking instead? It doesn't have to be very intricate, but there can be something very rewarding about making a good omelette out of almost nothing. Just remember a touch of sugar and a splash of milk can often take you to place you never dreamed.

I'd recommend juggling, contact juggling, diablo or fire eating. All great fun.

Otherwise, I'd say a musical instrument possibly (teach yourself), read about programming or another transferable skill, or just read for fun.

Anyone on here from Manchester (UK) and knows of a DnD group I could join as a complete beginner? I'd appreciate any tips.

You should be able to find a couple of months worth of krav classes for $100, just watch out for "mcdojo's". from what i can tell, a lot of krav in america is terrible, but if you can find a good instructor i cant recommend it enough,. Awesome fun and the most practical self defense i have ever trained.

Also, How about Skateboarding? should be able to get a reasonable setup for £100, especially if you hit up ebay. and providing you take care of it and arent massively heavy, it should last you a couple of years.

Go on a date!

All of your spare time will be eaten up by getting a girl..
Add a baby to that and you will never have free time again!

Or, you could easily get a fishing pole and some hooks to go along for less than 100 dollars.
You dont need a boat to go fishing, if you do, maybe someone has one you could borrow.

Also, you get very cheap pots that catch crab etc, bait is usually something you find or catch for free.

Or, you could just go to the gym alot more often.. Like 4 times a week and get buff..

I've heard it mentioned before but dominoes can be very satisfying by the end but then you're left with nothing. I'd recommend a musical instrument but they're pretty costly. Have you tried writing novels rather than reading them? Or you could get DDR on ebay for playstation or something and get really good at it. I've always wanted to get into watchmaking but I'm sure that'd cost a bit. You could try inventing, find something that could help your life and think what you'd need and design it. Gamemaking can be fun and you can get a few different software programs on free trials. Researching something and becoming an armchair professional could be interesting, such as genetics or alternative energy sources. Otherwise, knitting or crocheting can be fun.

You can pick any one of those or none at all, I just found it interesting coming up with them all! I may even take up a few sometime...wish I had 3 days on 4 days off...

I don't know if you get it wherever you are, but things like Planx are awesome. Also just plain sketching. Write a book!

The way my summer job works I work 3 days on and have 4 off. I was dismayed today when I looked back and realized I spent basically all my days off playing video games and watching movies. Other than that, I also read and go to the gym occasionally.

The problem is, almost every activity I want to start doing or get back into requires a good investment in equipment to get started: airsoft, archery, dirt bikes, kayaking, horseback riding, krav maga lessons, etc. Even things that seem deceptively simple on the surface, like fishing and mountain biking, are not when I do some research about all the stuff you need.

All it takes to start is music, a little space and youtube for tutorials and inspiration.
What? You didn't say it had to be easy, did you?

makign stuff is alwas good, or trying your hand at art

like for example I love nerdy things like figurines and t-shits except its hard to find and i have little money

so I make my own

I made a figurine of Aliair from assasins creed out of clay and other stuff, I also made a companion cube

I might get some plain white t shirts and se what kind of nerdy stuff I can stencil on them, I made an apature science tank top as well, and put the half life symbol on an old pair of shoes of mine, just for the hell of it
