What are some reasons for COD4 being better than MW2?

CoD4, order of precedence: Gunplay > perks > killstreaks

Mw2, order of precendence: killstreaks >>>>>>> gunplay > perks

This is why I much prefer CoD4.

As for singleplayer, CoD4 felt more simple, grittier and more plausible. The nuke going off for instance, made me immediately think 'Wait no, this doesn't happen, I survive.' And then you die a slow, painful death from radiation exposure, as do thousands of your comrades. It was pretty sobering. The boat raid mission and 'All Ghilled Up' rank as some of my favorite FPS moments, without a doubt.

Your logic presumes CoD4 > MW2. In my opinion, MW2 > CoD4 if only for the fact that the story wasn't so fucking boring, despite having virtually identical gameplay

CoD4's story...boring?

Hmm, yeah, I guess you're right. All the cohesiveness, pacing, and characterization really gets in the way of the unrealistic, unrelenting, flashy set pieces.

Good thing MW2 threw out all the silly cohesiveness, pacing, and characterization. I mean, who needs those to make a good story? Amirite?

Honestly, when everything worked in MW2, I had just as much fun as I do in CoD4 (with the exception of losing my favorite gun, the G3. The iron sights on the FAL were terrible). However, without dedicated servers, the following happened to me too many times to have fun consistently: Aimbotters, wallhackers, and of course, hacked servers that take the fun out of leveling. Maybe I'm crazy, but I like earning my guns and levels, not to mention badges. When a hacked server gives me everything, I have no idea which badges I actually earned, and all sense of accomplishment is swiped away because it was just handed to me on a plate.

Then, because there were no dedicated servers, I couldn't find a favorite clan server to play on (Which I do on CoD4 and Blackops), I couldn't find servers with rules I liked, and the only part I really liked about their multiplayer setup was the ability to make parties. I would love to be able to play with my friends always on my side in blackops or CoD4.

So for me, MW2 was almost it, I liked the weapons, the perks (though a few are annoying, yes. Every game has it's annoying perks. learn to play around them), and the party-system. Had it successfully solved the issue of hacked servers and players using hacks, I wouldn't have uninstalled it.

Also, this is slightly off topic, I hate scroll wheelers for ruining semi-autos. Because of them, absurd fire caps were put on semi-autos in later games, and I'm used to clicking really fast because of the G3 in CoD4. Loved that gun. >_<

Let's settle down, we don't want to start an internet fight. Let's respect his opinion.

It's not. They're both kind of rubbishy.

The first simply had shock value going for it. Fuck, one of the levels was even named "Shock and Awe". Protagonists usually aren't killed off in such a manner. Otherwise, the gameplay was nothing phenomenal except for some set pieces. Modern Warfare 2 tried to be a Michael Bay movie to get bigger set pieces and it killed off the protagonist twice.

The multiplayer actually managed lose balance and become even less fun than before.

MW1: Brilliant story, decent-length campaign with fun gameplay gimmicks from mission to mission, somewhat balanced, but totally fun and functional multiplayer.

MW2: Bruckheimer-esque story with no real plot and confused, trying-way-too-hard plot when it had it, criminally short campaign that was fun but burdened with the shitty plot, and a glitchy, laggy, unbalanced mess of a multiplayer game.

because it is a GOOD game not like the last 3 cods by the way i say 3 because mw3 is going to be bad
How do you know. Have you played it?
it will just more of the same they have not had any new stuff in the games since cod4 and each game has been worse then the last
Bullshit.

They have added just as much to the game as a game like Halo Reach, and no one bitched about that.

CoD 4 was NOT better. The only reason people say so is because it was the first one. It was different and new and everyone loved it. I recall unbalanced weapons, knife glitches and worse than horrible spawns. Modern Warfare 2 was not new, not a different concept but everything about it (excluding story) was much better. Smoother, better graphics, better sound.

I played CoD 4 when it came out and played again a few months ago, MWF2 is a better game.

People need to realise that a sequel can be much better and that they only like the first so much more because it was a new concept, its hard to do something new to an already thought out concept like Modern Warfare so i really don't get what 'new' things they want from the games. Everyone says we want something new but can never give an answer so IMO. STOP FUCKING BITCHING AND PLAY THE GAMES YOU'RE GIVEN! DON'T LIKE IT? STOP PLAYING OR MAKE YOUR OWN!

MW2 had terrible perks, terrible kill streak rewards, unbalance, far worse single player campaign, bad maps, glitches and the worst of all - forced into public chat with your party unless playing the terrible Ground War mode (ergh that single handedly ruined the online multiplayer for me)

MW1 was just better in every way except perhaps variety and spawn camping in my opinion.

Killstreak rewards weren't so ridiculous. CoD4 had 3, everyone had the same ones, and they were all decently balanced. MW2s are just silly one-push-to-win-shit (thanks to the nuke, I mean that literally).

My friend who has some 2 months of game time in each, tells me CoD4 is better in every way, but I really enjoy MW2.
His reasoning, is that the killstreaks and perks are more balanced in CoD4, and that OMA and Danger Close kill the fun of the game.
He had other arguments as well, but those are the big ones.

I actually prefer MW2 but anyway. I'm gonna point out the major flaws in MW2

-Noob tubes (those are in cod4 but less powerful)
-Super long knifing (with or without commando)
-Snipers (more in CoD4 but still incredibly irritating)
-BOOSTERS (not in CoD4 because of Cage Matches which were removed from MW2 for no reason, other than Infinity Ward are cheap arses and can't be bothered to run the extra server for cage matches...It resulted in free for all lobbies plagued with boosters ¬.¬)
-The People (Quickscopers) (This applies to both games, most of the players are 'tryhards' with their "xxlitexxscopezzxx" gamertags. They use snipers as if it were a religion and those who do not snipe will be damned to hell.)

Those are the reasons I can think of off the top of my head.

CoD4 is full of hackers now :( . I play MW2 because I win :)

CoD4 had a bit more juxtaposition.

As in: The nuke in your face felt like a nuke to the face because nothing had come close to that before.
Also aided by the fact that you crawled through grass for an entire missions just to get to a sniper post

But yeah I enjoyed MW2 but the passing and story was only good when you are palying either Roach or Soap as their story is the one that matters, Killing the 2 men who started the war, even if you only get Shepard.
