Opinion on River City Girls and that Battletoads reebootmake?
I have not played either game. Battletoads combat is decent/fine from looking at playthroughs, but beware, there are a lot of gimmick levels. The brawling sections appear less often the further you get in to the game. Just like the original Battletaods and Battlemaniacs.

RCG I am waiting on a sale to get, but is definitely better than Battletoads. Me personally, I was never a Kunio-Kun/RCR fan, and I am not in to open world brawlers that much. I do know you have to collect all of these hidden statues to get the true ending/final boss. I hate that kind of shit, so make sure to look at a video guide for that one.

Ace Combat Zero: That's what WMDs are for.

So I'm almost finished with the game. I got through the 2nd half pretty well for the most part, though I'm currently stuck on the final mission, the Pixy battle. On one hand, I do like that the final battle does feel like a test of skill(and thank god it got it's own separate mission from "Valley of Kings") with some cool dialogue and a great song playing. OTOH, Phase 3 is pretty much a gimmick battle where suddenly, despite taking damage from numerous missile strikes, you have to hit it one very specific and tricky spot on a time limit and likely with ammo running out.

I want to give AC0 a lot of credit. The various squadrons you fight make up good mini-bosses. The superweapons are relatively restrained for this series, as they don't overstay their welcome(the Hresvelgr is introduced in the same mission you fight it and Excalibur is taken out in the mission after it fires at you the first time) and the game feels overall far less gimmicky then AC5 did at times. On the down side, it also has a number of missions which are just....kill everything. So if it doesn't have as many highs as 5 did, it also doesn't have as many lows either and since its a bit shorter, it feels like a lot of the fat has been cut off. Even "Valley of Kings" feels a lot less obnoxious then ACES about it's requisite death star trench run expy.

Weirdly, the game does feel MUCH easier than the previous one. I pretty much didn't die once until Excalibur did it's red circle of death thing, died to it's lasers a couple times and then pretty much didn't die at all until the canyon run to the dam(mostly due to SAMs, where this is the only time they're not trival to dodge) And of course, the final mission, which is a pain in the butt due to the Morgan.

Probably the biggest issue is that not much really happens in the first half of the game. The interviews with opposing aces don't pop up until later in the game, and there's no much actual story or setpieces until the Belkan invasion begins. Of course, then you get the double gut punch of Missions 11 and 12 where You're forced to enable the Aces take on the bombing of Dresden and of course, the infamous events of June 6, 1995, which causes Pixy to lose it. The fact it does have small cast and Pixy ends up going from your Buddy to the final boss is actually nicely done and feels emotionally resonant.

If I were critique the plot, I guess it's that the whole "A World with No Borders" feels not unlike Metal Gears Outer Heaven/Patriots(pick one) and while it's supposed to set up the whole Belkan conspiracy in AC5(and presumably 7) feels off, because the grey men are implied to be belkans who infiltrated in that game and, well, their presumably globalist utopian aims(I mean, I guess) don't seem to mesh with whatever the hell they were doing in AC5. But I'm not really expecting the AC lore to make much sense at this point.

I also expected the Round Table to be something special to the plot, considering it's so heavily contested and there's mention of a magnetic field, so I assumed there was some kind of underground weapon or factory or something.. Instead it just ends up being the site of a couple of massive air battles for some arthurian symbolism(and boy this does game love it's arthurian symbolism).

Tried a bit of god of war fall. The story is so shockingly basic I'm still unsure as to whether it was just a placeholder they never got around to updating in time for the magical release window for bots. You start as optimus prime wearing a power rangers villain costume getting killed by someone else wearing a power rangers villain costume (PRVC for short if I ever have to type that again) and dropped off a tower. Buuuut, to everyone's surprise, you survive! And your intro monologue of course ends with "the fight...has only just begun!" The originality is off the bloody charts, people. But don't fret, there's a codex! So maybe there's an actual story there, if only the person holding the controller cared.
Also I get the distinct impression the gameplay and design so far is pretty much the whole game looped ad nauseum. It's so hollow, I feel a duty to try and balance this void with a little rewriting of a classic song as a summary of pointless opinionated waffle.

Aight, I'm bored of this now. The game and the typing bollocks about it. It is fairly pretty tho, nice array of colours to get distracted by on the odd occasion. And the voice acting is almost as larger-than-life sounding as Darksiders.

Pixy and the people who setup world without border were officer from every army who defected and tried to setup their own world order, some of them were Belkan but the bulk of the Belkan army were defeated at this point. What follow is partition of Belka which is what setup the AC5 events.

Yeah AC0 is a bit easier than previous entry, part of that is that you're playing the game back to back (I did teh same 4 to 0 playtrough a few years back and once I reached 0 my reflex when hearing the missile warning were on point), part of it is that 7 is one of the hardest game in the franchise.

The round table is just there to spice up the game story when there's not much to do. Because it's so focus on you figthing squadron of aces, it needs to have a lot of mission where there's nothing much happening as far as objective so they can focus on dropping multiple aces squad on you. So they make it sound fancy by giving the location some special importance, but it's nothing special.

The game wants you to joust, and my experience is that the enemy tends to fly in a way conducive to it. Just fly at him and break away in a straight line. He'll begin turning in an attempt to face you, and you follow suit(but turning in the opposite direction) and a 'joust' should occur as you both turn to face each other. Try to keep things at a level height. The moment you get a lock, you can missile dump and break without getting hit and restart the process. You kinda wanna move in a way that both planes will sorta trace a figure 8, jousting at the center point. I'm not sure what difficulty you're playing on, I only ever played on normal or hard but I think he goes down in 3-4 'jousts' during that phase which should be 6-8 missiles.

I tried to tail and gun him down, but well... the game doesn't want you to do that lets say and you're rewarded with a rather goofy sight of deflected bullets.

Officially 100% on Age of Calamity, thanks to my OCD wife knocking out the obnoxious, tedious shit (literally, korok "seeds") while I was at work. soooo...now we're done with that. Going to start playing Dynasty Warriors 8 Ultra Complete, Delux Legendary S-Rank Edition: The Revenging.

Prepare for more OCD trying to unlock all of alternate history routes for each faction. It's a doozy. I reccomend looking up video guides for that after your first playthrough.

I went to guides after realising there were branches in all the campaigns. I unlocked a bunch of them purely by accident. The early one (the Yellow Turban Rebellion one, I think?) was so obtuse. That aside, the game as a whole, especially the alt-history narratives, were pretty good, I thought. Weirdly, I played this on PS:V -_-

I've been playing a bit of King of Dragon Pass but I think I'm going to stop. It's kind of interesting, but the mechanics are a little bit incomprehensible and there's a bit too much RNG for my liking. It kind of reminds me a little of Crusader Kings, actually, except way more playable.

Yeah, it took me a while but I started to figure that out, but by then I was getting annoyed and impatient and had to stop due to life intervening(but I was starting to have issues with phase 1 and 2 again, so it was time to take a break regardless). At first he did turns toward me and I figured I'd just wait for that but then he just kept flying with his ass towards me, like he suddenly knew I had to hit him in the front and he was gonna deny me the opportunity. I also found that the fucker is immune to bullets too.

I'll finish it the next time I get a chance to play.

I guess that makes some sense but it feels like a waste since they'd already set up this grand belkan conspiracy in AC5 and it seems like a shame not to tie into that. But you know what, sure, why not? Ace Combat stories tend to be pretty spotty at the best of times.

So I beat Crash 3.

I'm not sure how - I had 46/47 gems, and I think 27/31 relics, but this was enough to unlock the true ending. But okay, sure...after slogging through Future Tense (why yes, my hands ARE aching, thanks for asking), I need a break from the series. Heck, probably platformers in general right now.

So, yeah. Crash 3 is a good game. Heck, they're all good games. That said, I'm still not sure if I consider Crash 2 or 3 to be the best of the trilogy. I think at this point in time, I'd say that if you simply want to run through, Crash 2 is the better game. If you're going for 100% (or more, yes, that's a thing), Crash 3 is probably the better game. Make of that what you will.

So I have the attention span of a gnat. I have found another game one the Switch called Wargroove.


I have come to accept the fact that NIntendo will announce a new advance wars after I die. But this....this right here I thank its existence I will accept a spiritual sucessor. That comes with druid mechs.

So I played some of Gears POP! The servers are shutting down in April, so figured I'd try it, and therefore, add it to the list of Gears games I've played (which as of now, is all of them bar Tactics).

It's...okay, to be honest. I mean, it's a mobile game, and mobile games have limited playability, but there's some fun to be had. Some strategy at least - you certainly can't spam your way to victory. Somehow, I've managed to beat every other player I've come across.

Still, it's at the bottom of the list. Yeah, it's not bad, and it's fun in small doses, but nothing to write home about. Even if they had an aesthetic closer to the games, it wouldn't change much.

I have come to accept the fact that NIntendo will announce a new advance wars after I die.
Just make sure you die before me so I at least get a chance of living for Advance Wars 5. :p

Yeah I played some of that game, it's really fun. I didn't get too far, but I think my favorite bit, was the sidequest centered around the puppers. It was just so silly and wonderful, how he would puff out his fluffy little chest, and sit/stand there proudly in his pupper armor, while all the hoomans would just anime googly eyes at his canine majesty. It was just fantastic.

Just past the first island in Nioh.
It's fun enough but inventory management is super cumbersome. I don't know what half the things I have do, and leveling/reforging/selling stuff is a chore. The management aspect of the game (stats, inventory, level this, level that) is generally tedious. I'm given a wealth of options for everything yet so far I get by simply by replacing smaller numbers with bigger numbers and sticking to what I know about the Souls games. The story is painfully oblique, not unlike the Souls games, but the emphasis on William and a growing cast of characters really underline how messy the storytelling is. Feels like I jumped into the second or third season of a show blind. Nothing is properly introduced, there's practically zero context for every story beat and little to no continuity from one mission to another.

Hitman 1 + 2

The new ones. Got the complete editions of both for a tenner each. Combined they seem a rather big chunk of content, so I guess I have my work cut out for me, murdering people. All with the utmost professionalism of course. Polite, efficient, have a plan to kill everyone I meet. So far done Paris, Sapienza (aka Vernazza in real life) and Marrakesh. On a side note, I've been to all these place, and yeh, they come across pretty authentic. Not perfect of course, but they have the right look and vibe. It's nice.

Anyway, technically my first proper Hitman game. I mean, I've played Absolution like way back, but that's generally considered the black sheep. Anyway, liking the varied ways you can approach missions. There's obviously "correct" ways to go about it, but there's leeway for improvisation. Minor example, got faced with an area I couldn't bring weapons into cuz guards frisk me, but circumvented that by throwing a briefcase with my gun inside over a fence outside the guards' audiovisual range. Didn't think it would work, but it totally did. Felt kind of proud about that.
