Forgot how superhot was supershot (or maybe i became supergood).

Forgot about the guru meditation at the end.

Forgot about the cool end titles song.

I'm gonna try Monster Hunter: Rise this week.
I tried MH World and couldn't get into it because it felt like it was just a lot of walking around slowly and I got bored. But I like the concept of, you know, hunting monsters, so I'm gonna try another one.
Tips etc welcome.

Finished RE4R a third consecutive time on NG+ Pro under 3 hours. Skipped all of chapter 14 by clipping through the gate before the lift, which was massive help.

I think I've had enough of the game for a while.

Hhm? But they do? They have both versions of each game. Blue and White, Moon and Sun, etc.
But they could instead make one version which combine all the features into one game, so you didn't miss stuff playing one version rather than the other one. Shamefully that's how 3 was release in japan, there's no blue and white of it.

For example, you can find combined version of every pokemon game for emulator, so you don't have to deal with missing pokemon because its not in your version.

I don't think it would really work, especially for 5 and 6. The only one I think really needs a rework is 1 because of the roughness of it as the first entry. (4 is the worst of the series but I don't see much way to rework it without starting from scratch)

If you play on PC there’s probably a bunch of mods to skip all the grinding needed before the game is actually fun.

The grind is the content. And that definitely isn't for everyone, but skipping past it means that you may have the necessary gear, but you won't have the skills to face the higher-level monsters. I've heard though that the DLCs (Iceborne for World at least, maybe also Sunbreak for Rise) have a button to start a new file with gear that's viable for the DLC, no modding needed.

Besides, that probably also doesn't fix the stated problem of 'walking around slowly', which has nothing to do with grinding. But having Repede from Tales of Vesperia and an insectoid grappling hook all the time like you do in Rise might help with that.

Pathfinder Kingmaker continues.

I'm starting to regret doing the Varnhold DLC just before hitting the next in-game crisis, the Varnhold Vanishing. On it's face, it's not bad, with me being asking to go figure out why Varnhold has gone silent, but then it becomes a fair bit of crawling through ancient cyclopean tombs.....after going though a big dungeon in the DLC. If I ever see another zombie cyclops giant it'll be too fucking soon. It's not that the Vordkei Dungeon was bad either. Its just fucking long, and it takes a while to get out there to boot.

At least I'm done with the Varnhold thing and I think owlcat realized people might screw themselves in the dungeon so some of the enemies drop rations. Enough for 2 rests it seems.

Currently on my 7th playthrough on RE4R; Chapter 7. First time on Professional NG+. So far, my playthrough has been great, and I only died once, because of a dumb move on my part. I am loving the Bolt Thrower right now. I already got it to max upgrade, and it is such an ammo saver. Do not sleep on this weapon. At least on a NG+ run, but it's useful, even on a new save file. On my 6th playthrough, I used the Red9 as main handgun. It's great, but the default pistol, SG-09 R, is way too good at max upgrades. 5x the critical hits is a god send, and one shot most early enemies; nearly making the first few chapters a near breeze. So SG-09 R sticks with me on Professional!

At this point, rouge-lites have beyond overstayed their welcome. Definitely not my thing, and will continue to steer clear of them.
Never even heard the term before! Hades is on my "wait for a deep deep sale" list as I don't know that this is my type of thing, but the reviews of it have been overwhelmingly positive.

Shows how gigantic my pile of shame is. This is in my Steam library (enhanced edition) and I didn't know it!

Couple of other games in my PoS got dizzed in this thread making them a lower priority for me. NieR and Sea of Thieves. And SoT cost me $40 some time ago, on sale. I did try it, got bored, keep hearing good things about it, that it, like No Man's Sky (on my wait for deep deep sale list) keep getting updates making them bettter.

And then with all that to play, I play some Venom pinball instead.

So a buddy of mine lent me his VR stuff, so I've had a go at Half-Life Alyx. And yeah, some adjusting to the new medium aside, I had a real fun time with it. The level of ingame interaction with the world is honestly several levels beyond anything I've played. It's also just extremely well realized in terms of worldbuilding, with tons of snippets of environmental storytelling, tho that has always kind of been Valve's strong suit. As an actual first person shooter tho, it's only ok, and in fact I'd say combat is probably my least favorite part of the game.

That happens to me far too often. Before I buy something on sale, I check my various digital game libraries to make sure I don't already have it somewhere. Most of the time I got some game as a freebie on EGS at some point and then totally forgot about it because I never use EGS and because it was free I barely registered it and then ended up (re)buying it for GOG or Steam which I use a lot more often.

Tails of Iron

Cute but creepy Hollow Knight-y rats vs frogs hand-drawn fairy tale vibes game. It's also a decent Soulslike, as far as combat goes. Fighting two or three enemies at once feels like a satisfying juggling act: you're parrying one dude to the right, dodging another to the left and blocking arrows being shot from above. It's all very simple and color-coded but relentless. It pulls off doing several things at once quite well, and for all its simplicity it's also pretty unforgiving about how many errors you can afford.

Dredge - fishing/cthulhu horror game.

Kind of chill vibes nonetheless, pretty to look at. Not much to say on the gameplay though, pretty basic inventory management stuff, boat upgrades,. Sanity meter kind of quickly becomes an afterthough. The minigame is pretty bog standard single button stuff QTE (though at least it alternates between a few different ones)

Story doesn't really do much unexpected either.

My attempt to Monster Hunter lasted about 10 minutes when the infuriating pacing, dialogue style and animation reminded me of why I never got into this franchise. I don't get how folks deal with these games.
So instead I grabbed a couple of games on GamePass that look interesting only for their style despite the great amount of attention they got when they came out:

Pentiment
The medieval story-book murder mystery adventure game. Normally I don't do games without gameplay but I ran out of solo TV to watch so this is basically like my TV show now. And yeah it's all about the painfully detailed and charming art style. Unfortunately, the fonts are the big deal here but I had to choose the "simple" accessibility mode because I had trouble reading some of it (I play on a TV living room style).
In terms of progression and structure- and I think I'm somewhere between a third and halfway through- it is unforgiving in its "choice" mechanics, meaning you get like one afternoon to do something and that means you're NOT doing something else. Encourages multiple playthroughs for sure.

Atomic Heart
The Russian Bioshock-lite. FPS ain't my thing so I'll just play it until I get too annoyed but so far I'm actually digging it. Yes, it's aggressively corny and stupid, but that's fine.
The combat and gameplay are rudimentary- pretty much what I feel like Bioshock was when I played a third of it like 15 years ago or whenever the heck it came out. The whole Soviet trapping is a lot more charming and delightfully goofy than I expected and it's my favorite part. It's a fun time-waster to relax with for an hour or two.
