Sekiro probably does this best out of those games. The fights are more like duels. There are only a handful of Soulsborne bosses that felt similar to it, as most have increasingly leaned more towards spectacle.
This reminds me, I actually HAVE Sekiro (somewhere, my physical copy exists,) but never really played it. I literally could not figure out the very opening segment where they introduce the stealth mechanic, and my play time that day was very limited, so I quit after about 10 minutes, and never went back to it. Might have to track it down; I'm still working through Elden Ring's DLC, but I think my time with it is coming to an end. Not because I'm not enjoying it, but because I know it's probably going to be too difficult for me, a concession I fully admit. But the idea of starting another critically acclaimed FROM title from scratch? Yes, please; when I'm done sucking at Elden Ring, I'll start sucking a Sekiro. Might even try my hand at a true blind playthrough this time; I've not watched anything on Sekiro, so it'd be the first FROM title I tackle with zero foreknowledge. I'm gonna suck so hard, watching me might be NSFW.

Really? All you do is crouch and walk in tall grass. It's stealth at its most basic.

You should play it, though. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Might end up being my favourite Fromsoft game I've played.

It might be interesting to get the hang of Sekiro’s combat and then go back to the dlc and try using the Deflect physik tear on bosses.

Basically yeah; it’s kinda deceiving because of how unFROM it feels with the insta-fail for not precisely following along but at least it’s brief.

Forgotten City is in a Humble Bundle for Steam and so far, it feels like a chill, walking simulator with activities. Terrific, Twilight Zone type of story.

I played through Doom over my weekend. I don't know when I'll replay it, but with Doom Il I finally I have a game that I can play in the week. No commitment: Easy to get started, play a map, save and go to bed.

Eternal I dropped after 100 minutes two years ago. Way too much crap on the HUD, too many systems and menus, glory kills, all dragging down the flow, and I found the art direction and sound ugly too.

Air Twister - Fun rail shooter, but the arcade mode you have to complete all in one go. It doesn't save when you're at the next level. I will have to make time for it later. I got it on sale, along with the Klanoa Collection.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Starting out Hexen on Titan difficulty with the warrior is really rough, dealing with melee guys is no issue, even the centaurs since you just do single big hits, but ranged attackers like the dragon things are deadly as hell since you have to close distance and with the cramped areas it gets much harder to dodge attacks. Not to mention those ice assholes in the first hub area, they are so deadly with their double ice shot. The flechettes help, but they are awkward to use and its not hard to kill yourself with the damn things. Things get much much easier when you get the hammer since its kind of a rocker launcher, but getting there is really rough. I feel like the sword is also much more powerful then it was and it needed a buff since it was kinda the worse super weapon, but it does still eat mana up.

One of the really cool things that this Heretic/Hexen update does is let you change class in the hub area, but I wanted to just do a pure playthough with none of that so things sucked till I got the hammer.

The Darksiders worm bossfight was a bossfight so good, it deserved to be done twice, in quick succession.

This is sarcasm.

I am enjoying the game though. I gather that I am over half way through, now.

I'm taking a page out of @thebobmaster, and playing something a bit more casual friendly. I got Klonoa double pack remake. Playing the first game. I am still playing on normal, but the remake of the first game is even easier than the original PS1 version.

I did one more playthrough of Final Fight 2 Readjusted, just to get it out of my system. I played it with all three characters and got the high scores I wanted for each one. There's no point in playing on expert mode when it's just some additional dialogue that doesn't mean much. I stick with either normal or hard.

I been there though- sometimes my brain, mood, emotions, sobriety, whatever- just was NOT in any place to accept whatever a game was offering.

Personally I would leave love some time in between FromSoftware torture prisons, uXprimentyl, but Sekiro is my personal favorite of theirs and an absolute pinnacle action game. If I can learn it you can.
I know everyone's experience is different but for me, it was by far the hardest to get into, but the easiest to finish and 100% Once you figure out a few of the timings, you just youtube lookup whatever specific enemy moves give you trouble to get past them. For me what made it easier to complete is how fast your character moves and checkpoints are frequent so bashing my head ast the proverbial boss walls was actually kinda fun!

Ok to be fair I haven't started it and probably won't for a couple of days but I'm looking forward to it!

So yeah I got a Switch 2 and I gotta say it is a fantastic little device. I always felt the original Switch was like this chintzy little toy, too small and "cheap," but this baby is solid. I wonder if Steam et al has provided a little healthy competition and raised the bar.

I got gifted a couple of games today, and hopefully I'll be able to make a decent start on them around all the Runescape I've been playing lately:

-Berserk and the Band of the Hawk: A Musou game (not just styled, it is by Omega Force) that adapts the classic manga Berserk. I'm aware of the series, but I've never actually read it. I have played Musou games before though, mostly Hyrule Warriors (the original Wii U one) but a little but of Dynasty Warriors 8 and Ken's Rage too. They're pretty fun, though 'fun' isn't something associated with Berserk all that often. 'Quality' is, though, as long as we're talking about the manga.

-Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: I imagine that on this forum, this game needs no introduction. And as one of the local JRPG Guys, I've been anticipating playing this pretty much since it came out.

Eww, you have Klonoa? Is that something you really want to advertise?

So I decided to try the new Doom. Only done 3 stages so far, it feels like doom, and that's a good thing. The new shield bash mechanic and block mechanic feel kinda op, but I'm playing on nightmare so it kinda evens out. I find I oftentimes will shield bash myself into the center of a crowd and then not be sure where I'm getting shot from, which I guess is a balancing force when you're out in bigger stages. And I love parrying the green stuff, the timing is super easy even on nightmare so I just kinda run into anything green I see.

Next chapter I think I'm gonna be piloting a giant mech, and I know there's a dragon segment somewhere too, so I'm sure we're only looking up.

The best berserk game unironically still is a ps2 japanese only game that plays kinda like early god of war. The musou one is a cashgrab. And berserk is my fav manga so I implore you to not base opinions on the plot form just the musou game lol. At least watch the 90s anime.

The new mafia the old country.
seem alright so far, though gonna be walking around the next few days 🤌talking a like thiiiis eh!🤌
bit of a hot take but seeing the world rendered so beautifully does kinda make me wanna see the open world version it obviously started development as. there's a real serene Red Dead Redemption vibe going on
the performances in story utilise more micro-expressions than I'd expect from most games which does help the watchability of cutscenes. and yeah I get the criticism that it's just another crime story arc, but come that's the fucking genre ain't it? as long as it's done good n well. plus i've seen what hack videogame narratives ppl defend when it's beloved developers, don't try and pull that shit with me lol
