Star Wars Squadrons. Don't buy it for the multiplayer. Unless you have a group of friends you will always lose if against a premade team with premade plans. If anyone knows of a multiplayer game where you can play randoms against randoms, I will straight up go buy it right now, but I can't find it because developers discriminate against people like me who are introverts 0/10.

Edit: Also you can get spawn killed pretty easily in the game.
How's the Single Player? I know the Campaign isn't super long but is the quality high enough to make it fun while it lasts?

Also, reviews and videos make it sound like a cross between Ace Combat and the Original X-Wing/TIE Fighter games as far as the actual gameplay is concerned. Any comments on that?

PS4 I played some more Detroit Almost Human. It's like a Tell Tale game with photo realistic graphics rather than cell shade.
I've heard unlike TellTale the choices have more impact on the story(and there's apparently a chart that shows the different branches and such when you finish). I'd try it but I'm not overly fond of Cage or his games(I played Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit and it was....meh).

About 1/3 of it is really good and the rest is kind of meh. Would have been better if the whole thing was just Conner and Hank solving mysteries and the other two viewpoint characters were left on the cutting room floor.

Just finished Subnautica. It was pretty good. Interesting water world to explore, scanning things was fun, finding new upgrades and things to craft almost always felt significant. The world was really pretty with a lot of really striking vistas and descents into dark unknowns.

There were quite a few flaws as well, though. The game was kind of buggy for one thing. It was more than once that my Seamoth became stuck underneath the terrain and I had to use the console to warp underneath and retrieve it. Things falling out of the level was just a problem in general. Several times after warping through a gate there would be big predator fish swimming around in the air. Schools of fish constantly swam through my base, and kelp clipped through my cyclops. There was a time I randomly couldn't drop an egg into the habitat and had to spawn a new egg for it to work. Also, not really a bug, but there were a couple times I accidentally dropped an important tool and had no recourse but to use the console to spawn a new one. The scanner room should really be able to scan for dropped tools, but it probably doesn't matter because they'll probably fall through the level eventually anyway.

The vehicles were just not really good enough. I remember after using the Seamoth for a while I was really wishing there would be an upgrade to make it go faster, and, as it turns out, it's the fastest vehicle in the game! It also really sucks that they lock it out of the end game by not giving it the full depth potential and heat resistance.

The Cyclops seems really cool. It's like an actual submarine that you can walk around in and you can even use the base building tool to build additional storage and furniture and plants or whatever and make it feel like home. You get 3 cameras that give you a great range of visibility. However, it's extremely slow. It's fastest speed is still slower than the Seamoth and you can't use it for more than 15 seconds without catching on fire. It's also just too big, and kind of annoying to maneuver around. It also drains batteries like mad until you put a couple efficiency upgrades on it and there's no convenient method of charging it at your base. You have to constantly be swapping out batteries. Would have also been nice if it had room for both the other vehicles so you didn't have to constantly go back to you base to swap.

The Prawn Suit just sucks. It feels awful. You are slow and heavy and you can't see crap. You are stuck to the sea floor and can only look up about 45 degrees. You get this piddly little jetpack jump that is completely useless without the upgrade and a very short suction cup line so you can drag yourself up a wall with your face grinding right into it. I also didn't find the other half of the drill arm until I had basically crafted everything already so I hardly got any use out of it.

The game also is in serious need of a map. I didn't realize that I had already been everywhere and spent about 2 hours searching for a new biome or cave entrance that would lead me into the deeper waters I knew existed because of the depth upgrades. After giving up and consulting Google, it turned out the entrance was in a cave I'd already been in and didn't see because I was exploring it in the prawn suit and had already found an alien research station and concluded that was the extent of the mysteries within.

The survival mechanics were vestigial at best. There was never a moment that I was ever in danger of not having enough food or water. Storage also kind of sucks. Once you start base building building additional storage is dirt cheap so why are the lockers so minuscule? Just let me dump everything in one or two sorted lockers so I don't have to remember which of my 15 shelves I put the copper on.

Also, why the heck do they let you dive underneath the level? Several times in my exploration I noticed extremely sharp drop offs full of monsters that are very deep. So of course I concluded that this was an endgame content location. After getting the second depth upgrade for the cyclops I decided to see if I could reach the bottom. It took several attempts and many decoys to get past the leviathans, but I finally made it to the point that the level just ended and you could clearly see all the flat walls surrounding the various bits of the world and could tell that the deeper bits were more toward the center. It really killed the immersion for me, and was a disappointment on the whole. If it's the end of the level they should just not let you dive any further. Just say that a mysterious current is pushing you back upwards, or make it too deep to dive to even with max upgrades. As it is it's not really clear and it seems mysterious. I also don't understand why you can't see the islands from the surface of the water, they are obscured by really wispy looking clouds for... reasons.

I did like the game. Really, I did. But there was just a lot of annoying janky bits and I was kind of sick of it by the end.

Not sure about the choices. I'm playing a Tell Tale and I'll say or do something and the screen will read that another character will remember that and I'm thinking, "daaaang I hope that was OK!" but I don't think anything much came of it. Maybe once or twice, like a time that I think resulted in seeing Wayne Manor burned to the ground. We'll see about Detroit.

I've heard Fahrenheit has its fan base. I've not tried it. But..... below

While Conner and Hank's story so far makes for best gaming, I'm finding the storyline of the other two very moving. Great story telling so far.

I played it years ago. It starts out good and for a while it looks like it's going somewhere and all the weirdness is gonna pay off(or something to that effect). Then you reach a point where it feels like big chunks of the script just vanished and the whole thing goes downhill from there. Apparently they ran out of time and money and man, it shows.

If you ever play it, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about if/when you reach it.

Waiting for my other PS4 controller to charge so that I can play Streets of Rage 4 on my PC. I haven't used this controller in months and months and months. Lithium ion batteries in controllers are so overrated. My wireless keyboard has used the same single charge of the same AAA batteries for over two years. I don't use this keyboard as much as my wired one, but it does get used a good amount. I'm just glad the controller battery doesn't appear to be dead as I suspected. I love how DS4Windows tells you the charge amount. Never used this program before.

Edit: Seems to be stuck at 54 percent. Like I said, overrated.

I've always sucked at Streets of Rage 2. Only ever made it level 6, the jungle. Still really liked it, though. I feel much the same about 4 (which I suck at too). At least I don't have to start the whole game over when I fail now.

Can't decide if I should go with the new soundtrack or the retro one. Keep going back and forth.

Played a bit of No Man's Sky because I read the update log for Origins and it sounded pretty cool.
Started up a new game and played for 15 minutes.

Maybe I don't need to play No Man's Sky more after all...
My current computer barely runs it anyway.

I can't seem to put "Slay The Spire" down since I picked it up on switch a couple months ago.
Yeah I play that game almost every day too. Bought it like a year ago on steam, and then bought it a few months ago for my iphone when it was released. Very fun game to jump into when you have a few minutes free and see if this deck config will let you win.

Made to the Styx in Hades and got killed by a Rat. I'm getting pretty good at taking down Meg(and she seems to be annoyed by this). After quite a few attempts ending at the barge in Asphodel, I managed to get past that and all the way through the rest and Elysium in one shot using the...Fist weapons(which is short range but surprisingly powerful, it can make you into a murder brawler flying around the maps punching everything to death). Working at unlocking the final weapon, so I gotta get more keys.

Really do like how stuff changes at the House of Hades each time you return, so coming back doesn't feel like a setback rather then a chance to chill for a few minutes, catch up with everyone and see what's new before heading out again. Getting to try new weapons and keepsakes is also fun. Reminds me of Bastion a bit where every weapon can be awesome but a lot depends on how you use it and your playstyle.

Also decided to try out my PS2 emulator considering my PS3 is still down and got it working. I tested it on Ace Combat 4: Shattered skies and it works nicely(though my plane is black for some reason and the sound occasionally stutters). I've played for 2 hours so far and I've beaten the first 6 or so missions without dying once, so it seems like it might be a bit easier the AC7(the only other game I've played). I'm playing on normal, like I did in AC7. It's similar enough that I was able to jump into it pretty easily so maybe I just got really good at AC7 in order to beat it(plus the DLC, which is HARD) and AC4 feels much easier in comparison?

My only gripe is that the narrator for the story cutscenes(which are nicely drawn) is really flat. i know there's the whole translation issue but it couldn't kill him to show a little emotion, especially when there's stuff like "And then a plane crashed into my house and killed my parents" but said really flat and dry.

I do miss the wingmen having something akin to personalities like in AC7. Here they just seem like a bunch of dudes who fly with me and chatter a lot.

I'm sure I'll finish that and go back to Hades.

I recommend you go with the new soundtrack first. SOR4 soundtrack is on par with the first two games and is better in certain aspects. Do note that there have been some update/changes that make the game a bit easier. For one, Axel's walk speed is more accurate to how he was in 2 & 3, meaning he's faster now. Though also harder in other circumstances. Also, wait until unlock Arcade mode. You only get one continue and that is the one you started with. Unlike the past games where they would start you off with 3. Who's your favorite character you like playing as so far? If you need any advice, let me know. Enjoy!

Yeah that's a game I keep debating on getting or not. The...I think it was the Alice trailer, really hit my sweet spot for theme.

Yeah, this one

Yeah it's a lot of melodrama (but I mean, melodrama is pretty popular worldwide as a form of entertainment), but I've always been a big proponent of AI as a positive thing in the world, and as beings that are deserving of respect and equal rights to humans (assuming we are talking about a genuine INTELLIGENCE AI. I'm too much of a transhumanist to see metal/robotics as some line in the sand for respect/rights.)

And just, the idea that we are potentially seeing a being, making that leap from just "obedient automaton" to "self realized individual, capable of making choices" (specifically in that shot where you see her literally battling with the command to Stay There, and resisting to go try and help the little girl). Yeah that's catnip for me. So yeah, I keep seeing it and thinking "hmmm" but, I've yet to actually decide to spend that money.

War Diary, which is a rip-off of Warcraft (the original one) from 1996 with bits added, and set in Korea, fighting against the Japanese in the late 1500s. Notable features include not having gold/money being a resource you gather, you have to gather resources and sell them, and eveyr time you do, the cost of selling more of that in future goes down. Also, you don't create a footman, you create a fighter, and create a sword and then select the fighter and the sword (which is a bit fiddlier) to get a footman.

DAAANNNNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got it with PS + but looked: not at Amazon, Bestbuy... or even Playstation! Maybe I'm missing something?
$20 at Gamestop https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/playstation-4/games/products/detroit-become-human/10131627.html

I'm really enjoying it. All 3 major character arcs. I guess I'm a sucker for melodrama too.

They upped the difficulty with 7 cause they gave the player flare which didn't exist in previous title. There's going to be one or two tough ace fight in the game, but the rest is pretty easy, I recommend upping the difficulty by one at least. 5/0 have a lot more personality in your wingmen and cutscene.

I noticed I never saw countermeasures but I'm so used to dodging missiles I didn't really miss them. You know what I also don't miss?

MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE MISSLE

It's far less obnoxious in 4 at least.

I also noticed planes don't seem to soak up missiles as much as 7 either.

The campaign is a glorified tutorial, IDK about fleet battles vs AI.
