Played a bit of Dawn of War Remastered, in Skirmish mode vs AI.

Maybe i'll dip my toes into actual multiplayer, but that is a great way to fasttrack myself into misery.

Its kind of funny, because I have always played Dawn of War as a turtle. Building my army up to the population limit, then steamrolling the map, but that is a great way to waste an hour. Turns out, playing aggressively (read: correctly) is actually kinda fun. Who would have thought!

Holy shit I've been gone for a moment haven't I. I didn't die, I swear. Just been fucking busy.

I just finished Dragon Age: Veilguard(got it on sale 50% off on steam a couple months back) and plan to find my old dragon age thread and append it onto the end once I get a good write up. Considering how controvesial it is I suspect I'll be interesting.

How can anyone be too busy to post on the forum board of Schrodinger cat website?

For those not looking at it, they started putting a lot of texts content, if you scroll down just a bit you still have video from 2023 on the home page. Its pretty bizarre.

Anyhow wb, you missed long chain about RE4 and other regular stuff.

I have been playing more Samurai Warriors 5. Mitshude is pretty much Vergil in terms of how he fights. Not so much attitude, but does take himself seriously. It didn't stop me from saying Vergil quotes, like "scum!" and "YOU SHALL DIE!". I've been mainly finishing up his first chapter that unlocks, after you finish Nobunaga's first two chapters. I forgot how addicting the gameplay in these later Musou titles are. I might have to track down another copy of Samurai Warriors 4 later, and finish some of those DLC missions I never bought. Maybe when a sale happens again.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Beat the new campaign in Hexen, Vestiges of Grandeur. They do some neat stuff in it, it does have that traditional Hexen key/switch hunt, but it does go a bit overboard. There is a big hub and 4 portal levels and you end up going between them all over and over, they do always give you things to do, but it can get tedious. The full enemy roster is here too, which is to be expected, the only problem is the sheer number of those damn swamp monsters. I was playing the cleric this time and the cleric doesn't have as good tools as the fighter and mage to deal with the damn swamp monsters. Nothing the cleric has can reliably one shot the swamp monsters, the mage has the ice touch, fighter has the axe, the parry doesn't reliably stun the swamp monsters, neither does the serpent staff, the fire shot is pretty good at one shotting them, but the fire delay makes it awkward, using the wraithverge on them is a waste of mana... usually.

Anyway thoughts on the whole package, its a fantastic deal and way to play Heretic and Hexen, the new sound track is pretty killer, but I like it more on Hexen then Heretic. The new Heretic soundtrack kinda looses the moodyness and replaces it with high octane sugar that kinda tries too hard. The weapon changes in Heretic are also fantastic, like adding a couple extra bolts from each crossbow shot and the firemace feels way better to use then it used too. Weapons felt pretty normal in Hexen. Speaking of weapons, I never found a new one, just the old standbys.

Man... I feel so silly.
Playing some more of the new Donkey Kong and I'm bored because it's too easy. And yet I complain when games are too hard. This is a me problem for sure lol.

I'm even considering another attempt at Hollow Knight, because of all the Silksong hype, even though I angrily quit that game like 3x.
My love-hate relationship with gaming continues. It's like I put all my old energy from f***d up girlfriends into video games because I'm in a happy stable IRL relationship or something. There should be a psychiatry term invented for this, I can't be the only one.

I've been playing Sword of the Sea, and is there such a thing as Journey slop, because this is it. That might be a bit too mean, the game is fine, and is visually pleasing enough, but it's just so derivative of Journey without any of the charm, warmth, and atmosphere of that game (company).

Sword of the Sea
Is relaxing, pretty, looks like what everyone who's never done acid thinks it's like and what everyone who's done it wishes it was. Only first impression haven't done much at all. Cos

Cosy Coral Island
Is there a way I can say this is just extra shiny stardew valley without saying it's just extra shiny stardew valley? Perhaps. If I had any self respect. But until then that all I got. Oh there's a diving element, annnnd...wait, no, gimme a sec there's gotta be something else, some other difference....ummmmmmm, gonna have to get back to you on that. Right after I play a little more coral island...

Got up to the second level myself and just turned it off.

The game looks pretty, and I'm sure it can be fun if one is in a certain mood, but it all just feels so barren and aimless. Gliding around empty spaces, solving rudimentary puzzles...

After deciding Lies of P is just not my cup of tea, trying out Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown through Playstation Plus because Ubisoft is not getting my business any more directly than that. It's a solid enough 2.5 D platformer so far, some fun combat mechanics. Not far enough into it to say much more than that is standing out for me, though.

If you're after that journey high but with a new twist, just started playing Herdling and it's got a whole new load of wordless feels, as well adorable fluffballs and a sweeping soundtrack. Is like 15 pounds on PSN at mo too

Sorta, I don't know the details, but both Sword of the Sea and Abzu were made by Giant Squid, which is made up of developers from Thatgamecompany I think. But Jenova Chen was the creative lead behind Flow, Flower, and Journey, and he hasn't worked on Abzu or Sword of the Sea to my knowledge. And you can tell - both those game are trying for that Journey vibe, but they're really missing something.

It's like some of the Beatles' members' solo music is pretty good, but it doesn't compare to when they were all working together and at their prime.
