Oooo me like what I'm seeing, very AC4.
I kinda wanna say it's a mix of some AC5 and 6, with some really cool super jumping effects. LOVE IT. Enemies are designed well that you have to deal with them in a certain way, no one solution works twice for a different enemy.

And when they start overlapping you, they become a REAL problem. Feels like it's definitely its own thing in terms of combat, and that's GREAT.

I will be playing City of the Wolves later today. I got the Legend edition on sale, so I have all the content for thirty dollars.

The seal ends at about sixteen hours or less.

I've been playing modded versions of SFII: Champion Edition (Genesis version) and Super SFII Turbo (PS1). The first is with accurate arcade colors, and the latter mod I downloaded has music from Super Street Fighter II Turbo (3DO / PC), Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition, and SFIV.

These games are so much fun, no matter the version. I played as Purple Rain Ken in Champion Edition. Cammy in SSFIIT. She can be a game breaker, and special moves do so much damage.

I'm wandering around Code Veronica with the Music Box Plate and Glass Eye. Resident Evil 2 and the Gamecube remake didn't stump me as much. The progression seems worse.

Not bad for a first arcade run in City of the Wolves. I used Preecha. It is a little hard to get used to there not being a medium punch nor kick. I am going to try the RPG-like World Tour mode later. Episodes of Southtown as it is called. Preecha is pretty fun, but I might go for Marco first in this mode. He is my personal favorite in Garou.

I did a quick 1cc playthrough of SFII: Hyper Fighting (Arcade Version) earlier with Ryu. It it still fun as always.

Finished Bramble: The Mountain King.

Through the last stages I went through two thought processes: first thinking that "Overall, I did not enjoy this game, I do not recommend it" to thinking "Okay, that was pretty decent.". And I think I can tell what the problem was: it is a game that at several instances prioritizes aesthetics over being able to read what you can and cannot do. I've already relayed how I got stuck at a section because I forgotten about the ability to crouch. This time the opposite happened: there was a segment where crouching was standard operating procedure to stay hidden in the presence of hostile enemies (think of them as zombies), and there was a segment where I couldn't figure out how to stealth through them; as things turned out I was supposed to use the ability to jump. An ability that felt counterintuitive given that I tried to stay hidden and which I could not read that jumping would help from the level layout. This section also made me think the game was made of edgelords since it, and the intro to that section, was so grim.

I fought the Skogsrå boss, thought it was okay, and then trodded along to what turned out to be the game's two final bosses. And here's where I thought it got decent. And I know why I thought it got better, and it is very much a me-thing; other people might enjoy this game more. The camera in both the last two bosses remained at a fixed distance with a fixed arena where the boss battle took place. Only when I needed to make an attack did the game zoom in over protagonist Olle's shoulder ala Resident Evil 4. That way I did not get simulation sick; the aforementioned Skogsvrå battle involved circle-strafing behind trees around the boss, with trees whisking by as you moved sideways which made me feel queasy.

The other thing that made it get decent was that we got some backstory. The final section laid out what the story was behind the final boss and I thought it was affecting, and we got the conclusion to the story of the game itself.

There's a part in me that want to say that I think this game could be improved if the player character wasn't a one-hit-kill. Yes, I'm aware that it part of the aesthetics as a grim and dangerous environment and Yes, I'm aware that if you fail the game takes you back to earlier in the same level just a tiny bit so you get back to the challenge, but it still kills the momentum and the final boss had background music that I wanted to listen to through til the end instead of having it constantly interrupt by me failing an attack.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Beat Kotama and the Academy Citadel. It was a really solid metroidvania with pretty good art direction. Some of the character designs are a bit overly horny and when you beat a boss you tend to get a kinda cheesecake image of them, which feels out of place, but otherwise its really good. Just beware that it has some difficult platforming, is what I would say if it didn't have an option to let you just skip those, I did them since I enjoy difficult platforming, but I appreciate having the option to just teleport past it.

Started playing Ninja Gaiden Rage Bound. I have too compare it to Shinobi Art of Vengeance since they are in a bundle on steam. In short I like Ninja Gaiden much more then Shinobi. Ninja Gaiden is pretty much what I expected amazing pixel art, tight gameplay, good level design, great music and with better writing, Shinobi had decent gameplay and very nice animated art, but bad story and kinda boring to navigate levels.

So it’s July 3…oh hey, I finally completed The Witcher 3’s main story earlier this week! Made a point of also finishing the Reason of State quest, and chose to intervene. I will of course leave the game installed though, still having Blood and Wine to finish along with various contracts.

After that, I booted up some classic DOOM and played the first level on Nightmare, which I don’t think I’ve ever done before. Might slowly play the whole game this way. We’ll see. Also have been meaning to reinstall DOOM 2016 which I never finished. Probably about 75% through.

What else…finally started The Last Guardian. To think they started development on PS3 shows what a system that was. Very charming so far. At the part where Trico wants the steam pot. People have complained about the controls, and it’s warranted. Makes RDR2 feel like an arcade game, but it doesn’t bother me. The animation is so good that it feels kinda natural; especially when climbing on the beast. SotC pioneered dynamic object traversal AFAIK, while Uncharted 2/3 and GoW 3/Ascension pushed it further on the PS3, but TLG might’ve outdone them all.

I got to get back into Ragebound.

I played a few rounds of Ultra Street Fighter II. I did a 1cc Arcade run with Ryu, did dramatic battle as Cammy and Guile, and did another arcade run, but as Violent Ken for the first time. Him and Evil Ryu are fun, and totally busted as fuck. Violent Ken even more so. I managed to beat my high score and shoot into the 1million range because of him.

I did not know this, but you can taunt in Dramatic Battle and get some health back. This is the only game to do this, and you would only know by reading the digital manual. I have a feeling most people aren't aware of this, or forgot.

Finally went back to Monkey Island 2. I figured out the gambler's number code, which was deceptively simple, went to the party and followed the map piece to the top of the tree, but I couldn't figure out what to do about the bird. Then I walked around for an hour to every screen in the game and tried all my items on everything I hadn't completed yet. Then I finally found a new screen by walking up to a second exit on the waterfall screen, and found a pump that I tried all my items on until using a monkey as a wrench. Then I took part in a drinking contest where I figured out I needed to dump out my drink in a plant and replace it with something else, but none of the multicolored drinks I was carrying worked. I remembered that the bartender sold 'Near Grog' so I went back to get some, but apparently captain Kate had bought it all, which she confirmed. Then I was stuck. There was no option to ask her for any and nothing I could bribe her with. Eventually I looked up a hint and found I needed to go to Phatt Island and get her imprisoned. I never would have thought of doing that in order to get a bottle of Near Grog. Never. I also never would have thought of picking up the dog and stuffing him in my jacket, or sawing off a random pirate's wooden leg in order to distract the woodsmith so I could steal a hammer and nails, which cannot be bought anywhere in the world for some reason. I also realized I had to go to the voodoo lady to revive the Weenie Hut guy from his ashes but I didn't realize that I needed to inspect every one of the unlabelled bottles on her shelf to find the correct potion, which would afterwards be correctly labelled when moused over.

There's a lot of charm to the game, and the dialogue is so witty, but man, some of these puzzles...

Yeah ultimately most of them can be completed in a few hours if you know what your doing, so they had to really stretch the sauce to justify selling them.

Monkey wrench, AH!

Beat Starfox a couple times. Yeah its pretty much just Starfox 64 with added cutscenes but its still Starfox 64 and Starfox 64 is like top 10. Plus the cutscenes are really good and do add some nice additional context, they even mention different paths when you have the option to choose and I have really warmed up to the character designs. The graphics in general are fantastic and things blows up good. Really the only two downsides are that the boss voices aren't quite as good, they also don't have quite as good yells. Also the Land Master in the level Titania feels wonky to play, but it felt wonky in the original also, but I would have hoped they would have fixed things like that rather then been pretty faithful to the original. Really this is one of those remasters that feels extremely faithful to the original game. Either way, to me it was worth the price of admission.

Well, I'm done with Elden Ring! Not because I beat it, because I ran into the Godskin Duo, which is the biggest pile of bullshit Fromsoft have ever turned into binary code.
It was one of the god skin combos, I think the one with 4 that I just said fuck it and summoned someone to help.

I had a lot more trouble with Malekith, but that's because I summoned Bernahl to make Godskin Duo a 2v2, and that helped a lot. Still, I don't blame you.

OT: I did a second playthrough of Deltarune Chapter 5, and holy shit there is just so much stuff packed into this game. At least I have a lot to chew over so I don't need to sit around vibrating until Chapter 6 comes out like the good old days between 2 and 3+4.

As for what I'm going to start next, I've decided to dig Lobotomy Corporation out of the depths of my Steam library and see if I can finally make some headway in that, as much as I'm not good at RTS or management games. tl;dr: You're in charge of an SCP/Federal Bureau of Control-type facility, except owned by a private corporation rather than a government organization, and you exploit the Abnormalities you collect as a source of renewable energy. All it costs is the life and sanity of your workers while you try to figure out proper containment and energy extraction protocols through trial and error.

I don't have enough FP for him, but I buffed Engvall to +9 (cost me a bunch of runes, but I've been hoarding Golden Runes like there's no next Tuesday) and he proved just tanky enough to let me finish them off with one sip on my flask left. The thin guy is much easier to deal with.

It's just frustrating that even Elden Ring falls into the "find the one way the devs meant you to solve this encounter" trap.
