Never had I imagined Steam to start green-lighting games that contained porn, nsfw, sex, ect. because a lot of young teens and maybe even younger go on Steam. While I am not against it, I was very shocked to learn about this. Even had to try some out *ahem* to know just how explicit these games were. Let's just say Steam did not hold back, they're allowing any kind of uncensored game into the market.

What are your thoughts? I am also aware that i'm kind of late to the discussion, but figured it was worth asking anyhow.

For me, so long as the games aren't cheap cash grabs, stable without bugs (or game-breaking ones) and don't have illegal content that would be considered top notch taboo, I approve.

I... really don't care, so long as parental controls are in place. (And if parents don't use those parental controls, then I don't want to hear them complain when their kids are suddenly looking at anime tiddies.)

You need internet to download steam. I think that speak for itself. Why censor steam when anybody who has access to google can find everything in the game and more.

I mean, as long as the proper parental controls are in place, if they have achievements and Steam trading cards I'm okay with it. May as well whole-ass it.

Bans, restrictions, ect. But seems now you can actually put stuff up there that doesn't need to be a SFW version or otherwise have the naughty bits be disabled.

Steam's big problem is they are totally willing to shovel garbage onto their platform. Not even just all these trash porn games, but plenty of other non-sexual garbage that is unfinished and poorly made top to bottom.

While I never expected to see things like Monobeno and Evenicle on Steam, I'm definitely positively surprised.

At first they banned games without sex merely for having a certain aesthetic but then they cleared up their rules and made new search settings and also allowed things that they had never allowed up to that point. The idea being that as long as a game isn't trolling or illegal, mature adults should be free to experience any game they so choose, even if some person somewhere finds if sinful.

Pretty much. I think people have way more of an issue with broken, unstable games that aren't even functional over 'naughty' games that you may end up finding. I've played Beta Tests that ran better than completed games, which is incredibly sad.

Nothing will change though, cause Valve is way too big to really care about this issue. They'll continue allowing anyone through, because honestly? Even their new policy of paying $100 to submit a game isn't even a slap on the wrist since you only need 5-6 people to pay off that money you've spent (assuming your game is $20, but even if it's a mere $5, that's still only requiring 20+ players out of the hundreds of thousands of people to buy your shitty game). So yea .............

Steam is basically like cable television. 99% of the things on it are pure garbage, while 1% is semi decent stuff to check out.

It's really more youtube cause just about anyone can put something up there.

So the actual ratio is more like 0.1% of stuff that's worth anything and 99.9% of trash but at the same time there's something out there for everyone too which is all you really need. Nobody is forcing people to play the trash games and you can spare the millisecond it takes to scroll past them for the benefit of finding something you actually want to play.

There's an added benefit of steam being free from Japanese mosaic censorhsip laws too, which makes a lot of JP games the definitive versions of themselves since even in Japan they have to use mosaic censorship. So yeah, thanks to this change, the definitive versions of dozens of games were allowed to exist without the help of mods and hacks and other background things.

With how talented our gaming community is, people have managed to create sex engines for games that didn?t even have them (Skyrim being a prime example of this). Every game I know of has been tampered with to have some lewd content into it by mods / hacks, so even with restrictions or policies, it wouldn?t stop the internet anyhow. Besides, i?d like to imagine companies at this point, kind of gave up regulating, including Valve themselves lol. But it?s also great to hear how Japanese devs can freely express their games now. I?ve never been a fan of censorship, it?s rarely ever used in a positive manner at all. With that said, so long as nothing highly illegal gets through, I?m all for it.

It feels more honest. Previously Steam was a steaming pile of crap with the odd gem in it and a big sign that says "But none of THAT kind of garbage here" and it just felt weird to me. If you aren't going to actually curate the crap that goes onto your system, what difference could it possibly make if there was porn on it too. Even the argument surrounding the lack of an 18+ barrier kind of falls flat between the requirement for a credit card and the fact that there's already some grey area/probably illegal stuff on there that survives on the back of obscurity. If nobody can find it amid all the garbage but the people its targeted at you could get away with some serious shit, and there is no doubt in my mind steam has been used to mule shit before.

From what I hear on Reddit, they are good quality games, Ironic that Steams NSFW games are better quality than their indie titles.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I think its neat, its nice to have a safe place to find adult games. Plus it turns out they can be really fun in ways beyond their gameplay.

Oh hey, Caramel Frappe is back, haven't seen you around in awhile. They tried to manage which games were on the store in the past but they kept running into good games that had to jump through a ton of hoops to get on. They finally decided "screw it, let everyone in." And lets just make better tools for finding and filtering games.

To be honest I think most sex is not something we should worry about kids seeing. I don't see how a titty can traumatise a kid. There are more extreme kinks that we should probably keep people under 18 from that might traumatise them but overall I think its fine. And lets be real every teenager looks at porn as soon as they get alone with a computer and they all seem to be fine no matter how gross it is to think of for us adults.

I find it very weird how we seem to think violence of most sorts is okay for kids to see but not sex, violence actually traumatises people so its weird to me. We might give it a mature rating if theres a lot of blood but striking and shooting people is something we seem weirdly fine with letting kids see.

Well it?s academic for me since most of them aren?t available on the Australian store but if it?s your thing, fill your boots.

Don't care. If Valve wants to allow nsfw stuff on their store, that's their choice.

Tho I suppose eventually some parent group will have a ***** fit about it.
