In the wake of Paranormal Activity 3 and my friends on Facebook declaring it the scariest thing ever I want to know how you guys feel about the movies.

Personally, I think they suck, they're boring and not scary at all.

Edit: I figured this video is just right for this thread :D

I think they're funny :p If anything they're the kind of movie that makes you scared later at night in bed but not while you're watching it. The suspense is ruined a bit by that rumbling noise that happens right before the demon does something.

I've never seen any of them because I don't enjoy those kinds of films.

That's my opinion.

They aren't great by any means but if you compare them with the mediocrity this genre has seen in the last 10-15 years they are a good view.

They're okay, but they aren't as good or scary as people make them out to be.

It's sort of interesting though, because it seems like, for a lot of people, overstating how scary it is is part of what makes the movie fun. I saw the second one in theatres, and the crowd was very vocal (obnoxiously so, to be honest), to the point where there was a reaction to every "scary" occurrence. A door moved by itself and half the audience seemed to be pissing their pants.

But it was in a way that was more like they were reacting to it for the sake of reacting to it, than reacting to it because they actually found it scary enough to scream and make a commotion over. Like a big, unspoken, "let's all agree to find this movie scary."

I'm a big nut about stuff like that so I thought Paranormal Activity would be my kind of flick. Sadly, I was also bored out of mind watching it. I eventually just gave up and turned it off.

My girlfriend and I were intrigued of the things we heard about the first movie, so we watched it. We don't usually watch horror movies because we don't really like to be scared and/or see pointless gore, so you can imagine our reaction to it...

... most boring movie ever. Not scary in the slightest, I mean what the fuck. We watched it at night, lights turned off and in bed and couldn't muster enough shits to give to be frightened.

The second one was even more of a snoozefest since they had more cameras and the demon thing was even less subtle.

Allow me to quote sickipedia: Frankly, Paranormal Activity is just one film away from being a regular occurrence.

I think they're amongst the most stupid movies ever.

The last time i was actually scarred by a horror film was.....well never. Because they just arnt scarry to me. Same with things like the Saw franchise, a series of bad films churred out to make money from *finger quotes* "shock value", it isnt shocking, its just really dull.

First one was good, despite not being the messiah of terror that is was claimed to be. Never saw the others, but I assume that after the first the premise ran very thin.

Kind of hard to maintain it as possibly real when it keeps happening and getting filmed. You'd think word would get out if this stuff was caught on camera so frequently.

Only seen the first one, thought is was very well made with the budget and all. But not scary in the slightest. Subsequently haven't bothered with the rest.

If I had a sound clip of a loud yawning noise, I'd play it right now.
That's my reaction.
Off to watch a horror movie that actually frightens me: Event Horizon.

I think they are good films.

Its nice to see a scary film that does not just throw more gore at you to make it cool.

I thought they were hilarious. They were incredibly hyped up as to how scary they were, the crappy endings in both films released all the tension that this might be remotely plausible.

This. I was half bored while watching the movies. Yet when I went to bed a few hours and Advent Children later......I left the light on. I haven't done that in two decades! Personally, I thought [REC] 2 was scarier than any movie I've ever seen.....but still. Have yet to see PA3. Not sure if I want to or not.

I was forced to watch the 2nd one with a bunch of friends once. I couldn't stop myself from pointing out the stupidity of the whole thing all the way through. I didn't find it scary, I didn't care about the characters and barely understood what the "plot" was actualy about, and I still have no idea what happened at the end, mostly because that bit in the basement is impossible to even bloody SEE.

I did like the dog though. He was by far the best actor in the whole film.

Yes. Event Horizon is what horror movies should be.
