What are your thoughts on 4chan?

I find it awful, immature and stupid. Any place with pony porn is awful.

Fun fact: Except for /b/ (and that's only if you're lucky) you WILL get banned for posting pony porn. It only occasionally leaks in on the /mlp/ board, and even then it's taken off straight away. It's not even welcome on the /d/ board, the place where vore and spider porn threads are normal.

/v/ and /mu/ are hipster elitist garbage.

/b/ sucks a variety of phallic objects, but sometimes one magical thread comes along and it's amazing. The board would be so much better if the appropriate threads would actually migrate to the boards made specifically for them.

Beyond that, I haven't really visited any other boards, mostly through lack of interest.

At this point all /b/ is is the same tired memes and copy pasta being rehashed over and over again, and that's just not something I want to be part of at all.

You're forgetting the seemingly endless flow of trap, furry, chickun and /soc/-type threads.

I've only been on a few times, once to get a look at it's infamousness, I certainly wasn't disappointed when I went to a few sections. I went to the Game Grumps section when Jon left just to see how the other fans were taking it.

It's nice that it did some good in the past like someone pointed out, but I wouldn't want to be a regular visitor personally.

It's exactly like every other forum, except it has anonymity, so people directly insult each other instead of veiling it in smug condescension.

The people who post on /b/ and /v/ - in my opinion, the worst boards by far - are exactly the same kind of people who post on boards like this. The userbase is comprised of the same demographics with the same interests.

4Chan thinks it's edgy and hardcore - it isn't.

Other forums think they're better - they aren't.

I like this guy, he makes sense. I vote him to be our next leader

Also, I am a regular lurker and usually post there about as much as I post here, it's pretty much the same as everyone elses boards and forums

What really baffles me is that so many people get involved with it in order to use said anonymity to build themselves up and make themselves feel better... then in the same breath talk some ridiculous nonsense about how anonymity removes the sense of self.

I personally find 4chan to be a giant braintrust, and as such, should be treated with respect and admiration whilst also being feared and appalled. Yes, there's a lot of really insipid stupid worthless crap on there. But occasionally if the stars align just right, you get some truly golden moments that can offer legitimate assistance to your life or world view. But, as with many things, you must take it with a grain of salt.

I must have missed that thread, and that makes me sad.

It's got all the gay, non-gay and very creepy sexy stuff one might want, though. It's been mostly little girls with over-sized male male genitalia. It's also just about the only place I know of where folks can request little girls to have less ludicrously over-sized male genitalia. While it's not my cup of tea, it's oftentimes fun to see requests fulfilled - or completely misinterpreted on purpose. Who cares about people hacking webcams of other people, I prefer to be plugged right into them alpha brainwave patterns. 4chan pretty much delivers that. It's also one of the more reliable think-tanks out there. Chaotic, yes, but not completely evil or without merit.

I've seen very little genuine hatred and bile in my time on 4chan. Most of it has always been good fun. Very blue and sometimes a wee bit misanthropic, but still - people put some effort into that stuff. You just need to be contained and mature enough to make an informed decision about where your boundaries are... and, hey presto, you'll have a really, really good time.

I regularly check /tg/ for anything interesting - storytime mostly. Yeah, half the time it tends to devolve to something fetish-y stuff but other half tends to be amazing stories.
