Simple question, really, what are you thoughts on the image-board known as 4chan? Do you go on there regularly, semi-regularly or never? Have you actually been to any other boards except for /b/? What are your opinions on it's culture?

Please don't turn this into a flame-war.

I used to occasionally have a quick browse of /tg/ but most of the entertaining stuff gets catalogued on 1D4chan or sup/tg/ so you can get the good stuff without having to sift through all the shit. Also all the drawf...er...fan artists post the majority of their stuff on Deviantart. So basically I have no real reason to go there, but the denizens of /tg/ do produce some cool stuff.

I'm a semi regular poster on /sp/. I don't really go on any of the other boards because they don't interest me for the most part. Like most people I started on /b/, but quickly realized that it was populated by teenagers pretending to be edgy or by people who think they are edgy but in reality are just a bunch of morons who think they are some sort of badass because they are anonymous. At this point all /b/ is is the same tired memes and copy pasta being rehashed over and over again, and that's just not something I want to be part of at all.

The people there are immature, selfish, and harbour every type of negative ism in the world.

But apparently, I share the same taste in porn with them, so I only go there for that.

It's exactly like every other forum, except it has anonymity, so people directly insult each other instead of veiling it in smug condescension.

The people who post on /b/ and /v/ - in my opinion, the worst boards by far - are exactly the same kind of people who post on boards like this. The userbase is comprised of the same demographics with the same interests.

4Chan thinks it's edgy and hardcore - it isn't.

Other forums think they're better - they aren't.

I like it.

Ok, I like it because it is specialised. I go there for toy news, to look at wallpapers when I want one and to check out some of the other boards that coincide with my interests. It isn't pretty to look at, but it has its uses. I don't go on all the boards, but I don't find too many asshats on the ones I do use. And it is quite easy to ignore the ones I do find.

You can tell who has not explored it much by their immediate reaction of "its a place for looneys" or "internet cesspool" because clearly they went to /b/ and never returned after they saw some of the horrors that take up 90% of that channel.

4chan is more know for /b/ but that is only 1 of the many channels (and even though it is a legit cesspool many well know brands were born from it, Icanhazcheeseburger came from caturday, demotovational posters started there as well)

If your looking for something a bit more on topic and less insanity level go to just about any other channel than /b/. Less of course /b/ gets fight the powad again and invades /v/.

You'll never find a worse den of scum and villainy, but some of it is amusing so long as you steer clear of /b/.

I kind of like the rough nature of it, although I mostly only go on the technology board /g/ and the videogame board /v/

I only can take it in small doses though.

I find it awful, immature and stupid. Any place with pony porn is awful.

It depends on what board you browse. I used to visit /b/, and hurried over to /v/ and /a/ quite early. Really, it's a vulgar, mostly unpleasant place with some really disturbing people posting here and there (/a/ is especially guilty for having highly disturbing people). Sure there are some decent people and threads to be found, but they're a rarity.

Then again, it is one of the few places where I can genuinely laugh out loud because of their antics. Some people on there have a great sense of humor.

I think it seems to be more immature than 2ch.
Maybe it is because of those picture thingies that they use.

I actually prefer that direct approach, and generally when people do it's deserved or easily ignored because it's just another anon (unless they're named). There's plenty of crazy there and there are worse chans, but there's actually some good stuff on 4chan. Intelligent people do post if you know where to look, how to contribute and not be an idiot.

I never want to go there honestly. A friend of mine has showed me some amusing things from there but a lot of it puts me off as well. Don't mind it's existence though as long as people are warned in advanced.

I pretty much avoid going there at all cost. Granted, I don't think it is all vile (like 99% vile) due to those stories about them doing some good to the world (like finding those puppy/ kitten throwers and like that guy stepping on Burger King lettuces during work). It was also thanks to them they had made a couple of media popular aswell

For me 4chan is like a sword without the handle.

Just as dangerous to you as it is to others.

Still i admit i have had some laughs there, and some moments when i begin to question my own mind.

I use 4chan quite a lot. While you do get your fair share of users who are complete plebs, you can also have some very civil conversations on there. I use /v/ most of the time, and even though it's recognised as a board that hates video games, in depth discussions are relatively common.

Although I have to admit, the consistent forced meme sprouting of /s4s/ is absolutely hilarious.

I mostly just browse know your meme's 4chan related galleries for highlights. Some of the funniest things I've ever read were green texts and other threads. Otherwise I've never been tempted to experience the site first hand
