Muse. Had a lot of friends rave about them up and down- gave me some of their albums, but the whole time that I was listening to them, I just couldn't shake the feeling that it sounded like some Radiohead knock-off- and then, because of that, I would just want to listen to Radiohead and never finished

also Yes, I haven't listened to that much progressive rock but their stuff seems super-mediocre in comparison to that of bands like King Crimson and Genesis

Kings of Leon. They're crap.
Eh. I actually liked their first two albums. It was genuinely good 70s esque rock.

Then for some reason they turned into a shitty Coldplay rip off.
Exactly. Aha Shake Heartbreak was an awesome CD. Then they turned into pure trash. That's why I have 0 respect for them now.
Hm. Well, I understand that then. I don't have any respect for them after that either but I still like that album ^-^

I'm curious what the definition of "Overrated" is in here because I think I'm using a different criteria.

I mean I really don't like Elvis but I can't truthfully state his popularity was overrated.

Anyway. I'm going with Radiohead.
I've yet to get a decent explanation out of their obsessive fans over what makes them so great.
Don't get me wrong, they're not bad, but they're not the second coming of Christ or anything.

I can't listen to them anymore. Wasted potential pisses me off.
Yeah, it is wasted potential but I still listen to those two CDs regularly.

Still annoying when I hear some little teenage fuckhead say the love Kings of Leon when they only listen to their new shit.

The Beatles?! come on what they get is for the most part well deversed. For alot of bands you have to understand their context, like alot in a lot of early rock (older then 1969) there wasn't a real presedent.

Getting back on topic, I think any band that some way involves the devil or satanic whatever, like Iron Maiden, in their image is overrated. I'd illaburate, but I don't want to get suspended agian.

Pearl Jam.
Really? I know their new stuff is crap, but Oceans, Black, Jeremy, and Even Flow are pretty good
They only really did that once on the Number of Beast that was their only album that really had anything to do with Satan.

OT: A lot of different things like Lady Gaga and Kesha. Most of the new Pop music I find horribly overrated.

Paramore.

Not to say they're bad, but I just don't get why most of my friends like them so much.
