What characters would you replace in Marvel vs Capcom 3?

Going a bit against the rules here (where "a bit" = "a lot")...

I'd replace Phoenix with the Wright one.

...Yeah, I just wanted to make a pun.

I'd take out any Capcom character (except for Chris and Wesker), and throw Jill Valentine back in. Then I could make a S.T.A.R.S. team! ^_^

EDIT: Although, having Nemesis in the game would be pretty freaking cool too...

....But Jill is in the game though...

She's just DLC because they couldn't get her finished before the release of the game.

Ehh, that's different though. She's not part of the main game, she's extra stuff that you need to pay more for. It's like buying a cake then learning that you have to dole out more money to actually eat the thing. It's not the same.

While I'm here, throw Barry in too. Then I can build a team of Barry-Jill-Barry, and have a Jill Sandwich. ^_^

She-Hulk out - The Punisher in!
X-23 out - Daredevil in!

C. Viper out - Ken in! (I know we have Ryu but there's something to the Ryu-Ken-Akuma palette swap team)
Hsien-Ko out - Ken (Street Fighter 2010) or Hayato in!
Trish out - Phoenix Wright in!
Tron out - Mega Man X in!

Of course I can think of more but most of them Marvel and would want to add to the cast!

Now I haven't played the game but I have seen the character list and have been following all the updates of information. Maybe my opinion will change on some of these choices but here is my list.

Marvel - I find that there are too many X-men characters (six in total) so I would get rid of X-23, Phoenix, and Sentinel. My replacements for those three are the following:

Silver Surfer (partly because he's my favourite character and partly because I found it stupid when they worried he would be mistaken for Ice Man.)

Doctor Strange (Shuma-Goroth and Doranamu are both considered Doctor Strange villians and I don't see why he is not in it.)

The Hood (I decided to replace Sentinel with a villain and he appeared to be one of the more interesting ones that I could find.)

I also considered a Cloak and Dagger tag-team character as that would have a unique play style to the other characters however I couldn't think of who to replace and it would also be quite difficult to programme and sort such a character style.

Capcom - I was surprised to see Capcom restrain themselves with having only four street fighter characters and was fearful that they would overload the game with them. Having removed three X-men characters though this leaves the Street Fighter franchise with the most amount of characters and so I would suggest the removal of Chun-Li (Ryu is the main, Akuma is the villain and Crimson Viper represents both a new character to the Street Fighter franchise and a female character). Also, as much as I like Tron Bonne I feel both her and Zero should not have come before Mega Man (Classic) and Dr. Wily.

Classic Mega Man (I shouldn't need to state a reason, the first thing I think of when I hear Capcom is Mega Man.)

Dr. Wily (He has yet to feature as a character in the vs. Capcom series and he is the main villain of the Mega Man series.)

Astaroth (Ghost 'n Goblins didn't get much love in this game and hey, Capcom's side is lacking villains.)

Personally I would like to replace Felicia with anyone but I lack a legitimate reason to do so. I simply don't like her design and her lack of clothing. The succubus?s have more clothing than her.

Anyway these are my replacements. For me the only downsides for the Marvel side is how many X-men characters they have and the only downside for the Capcom side is the lack of Mega Man (Classic, it will always be classic with me) despite having two other Mega Man characters. Now time to look at what everyone else has said and maybe comment upon it.

I'd replaced any of the existing marvel cters with Ken... ANY of them

Besides that I'd probably replace She-Hulk with Rogue or the woman equivalent of spider man. I would also love Blanka instead of Akuma!

Do you really need Ken and Ryu? They are the same, the difference is too small to make scene to have both.

Well everyone who has played street fighter always picked one or the other, and I had always chose Ken over Ryu. Yes they're similar, but so are Ryu and Akuma, and I would much rather have Ken than Akuma for sure!

I'd replace she-hulk with Spider-woman (the Jessica Drew version) or Ms.Marvel (Carol Danvers version), She-hulk is pretty cool and all but there are way better marvel girls to use. Or rogue or psylocke as a few before suggested. Also, WHY ARE THERE NO MALE DARKSTALKERS CHARACTERS!? I wanted to see Dimitri or the werewolf

Black Cat would be a cool replacement of She-Hulk if we had to go women. And then they can replace Felicia with some other Capcom character since we'll have a catwoman.

Y'know, I think Capcom and Marvel did a good job at balancing those characters everyone can't do without, with completely obscure guys. Heck, before these games, hardly anyone gave a hoot about Shuma-Gorath (Except you Dr. Strange fans out there. You know who you are.). It's a nice way to catapult some unknowns into a more mainstream universe.


But I also want Nick Fury in there somewhere. Probably would have to take out...Thor. He's just not showing a lot of godhood here.

And instead of Nightcrawler, how about get the same effect by throwing Shadowcat in there? She could replace Phoenix.

Capcom wise, Maybe replace Felicia with someone from the weirder Street Fighter games, like Skullomania (I'm aware they don't have the rights to him.) or someone from Rival Schools.

X-23 with Rouge, we don't need a female wolverine and sense they only seemed to pick her for extending the male female ratio rouge fits it fine and keeps the same amount of X-men charters

Yeah, X-23 is different than wolverine's style. She's weaker, but has a higher damage output (special), is a little quicker, but her standard attacks don't do as much damage.
Replace SheHulk with Cable. I want Cable back. Yesterday.
And replace Shuma-Gorath with Dr. Strange. Dormammu needs an enemy.
And it's not day one DLC, it's third week. It doesn't come out until March 15 I think.

Zero is the worst addition to a crossover fighting game that I've ever seen. I would remove him from the game and from collective memory if I could. I suppose I would have to replace him with someone, though, so I'd replace him with M. Bison.

I would also remove Tekken's Nina Williams from the roster and replace her with Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil series.

Jill is in the March DLC pack.
I'd replace Zero with MegaMan. I can really only use Zero's megabuster anyway, sooo...

Spencer definitely, I would much prefer Chuck Greene or Frank West from Dead Rising. Preferably Chuck, but Frank is fine too. I'd also like Trish to go and instead Ryu from Breath of Fire
On Marvel's side, Taskmaster with Daredevil.

uggh not more character complaints... honestly the best thing about the game coming out is that i dont have to go online and hear people moan about x or y not being in the game (that means you megaman)

....but not wanting to be a salty jerk... i would take out ryu because hes so goddamn ryu, maybe put in strider instead because hes so goddamn strider. id like if virgil was in the game but i know why hes not what with wesker playing pretty much like virgil would... and actually i really like wesker so i guess it worked out fine. and maybe stick captan blue in their somewhere, there's really nobody else what with frank and phylocke coming as dlc..

sorry for the bitter words, i know megaman fans just feel like they've been missing out on the love in mvc3... besides having zero and tron bonne..

Why is She-Hulk in the game? Hulk is already there, what makes She-Hulk a needed addition? Replace her with Daredevil or Punisher.

And I would have changed the Taskmaster with Moon Knight.

Megaman is the ICON of Capcom, and not having him in is a fucking insult. And Akuma is a clone of Ryu. The face of Capcom, or a Ryu clone? Easy choice.

As for Viper: I get it. Trying to put one of the new characters up in one of the big games. But it just seems a little too... forced. I wasn't one of the ones bitching about Strider not being in it, but putting him back would be nice.

MARVEL
-Replace Sentinel with Bullseye or Daredevil.

I fucking HATE Sentinel. It's just as OP as ever, with any problems they tried to take care of being overshadowed by how much he owns in X-Factor. Seriously everyone puts Sentinel on their team, and saves him for last, using X-Factor to completly RAPE. Plus, Bullseye would just be awesome. Hell, it wouldn't be too hard. Make the fighting style a fusion of Hsien-Ko, Arthur and MvC2's Gambit. As for DD, just as awesome.

All things considered, the roster is actually pretty good. A little too many X-Men, but not that bad.

I'm assumine Frank West will eventually be DLC. Maybe not the first wave, but he'll get in eventually.

BONUS HIDDEN CHARACTER:
Scrooge McDuck! Think about it: He was in a classic Capcom game, and is owned by Disney, who owns Marvel!

*Crimson Viper out. I know they're trying to push the new characters from SF4 forward, but she's not the best choice they could have made. Either replace her with someone else from SF4 (Heh, Rufus?), or an older SF character. Say, Guile or Dhalsim.

*Hsien-Ko out. Her implementation is just awkward for the gameplay in MvC3. Swap her out for either Morrigan, B.B. Hood, or Demitri.

*Trish out. Too close a similarity to Dante. Tag her out for a character from another property all together. Maybe Strider Hiryu.

*Akuma out. Too close a similarity to Ryu. You want a SF badguy? How about M. Bison? At least he'll bring a different fighting style into the mix.

Marvel side
*X-23 out. Style's too close to Wolverine, for... obvious reasons. Replace her with someone like Gambit. Or Nick Fury (though that may brush too close against Chris Redfield for fighting style, rad as it would be to have him in a game). Or Blade. He's a Marvel property. Or if you want to make things REALLY interesting? Dust.

*Dormmamu (aka "Who?") out. Replace him with Doctor motherfuckin' Strange.

Edit: Also find some way to add Squirrel Girl on to the Marvel roster.

Also for those who ***** about Sentinel being OP again, his weakness is in his size.

I suppose I would get rid of Viper for Gene from God Hand. Then I can have team Clover.

I'd like to see Doctor Strange, but im not sure who to get rid of for him.

Also would like to see Thanos (and Deadpool's reaction to him) but again, not sure.

Oh, and Frank West. Maybe get rid of Akuma, or not, as id like to slam a servbot helmet on that bastard as well as the entire Marvel cast.

Replace She Hulk with Rogue if she looks like the version from X-Men Evolution.

C. Viper with Juri - I think Juri is cooler than Viper.
Zero with Servbot - I find Zero boring (I've never played a Megaman game, so that might be a factor) but I loved Servbot in MVC2, so this would be awesome!
Akuma with Frank West - Akuma is too much like Ryu and is boring, Frank West has limitless potential!
She-Hulk with Onslaught - She-Hulk is boring, Onslaught is totally awesome.
X-23 with Mercury - X-23 and Wolverine, while definitely different from each other, are too similar in concept for me to enjoy. I think X-23 is bland. Mercury has a lot of potential for interesting attacks.
Felicia with Anakaris - The giant mummy dude is, in my opinion, much cooler and more interesting than Felicia.
Storm with Iceman - Again, Storm is boring. Iceman is my favorite X-men member, though!
