I invoke the idea that each nation picks one warrior to fight to the death in Chernobyll and the winner's nation makes the rules. The nations that are prohibited from entry are the ones without nuclear weaponry. Yes, that narrows it down quite a bit.

EDIT: This is done every 20 years.
I assume the 'chernobyll' bit is so we can't reuse warriors.

Sadly, this would mean the russians and their steroids and meticulous athletics programs would smash the media-governed antics of the western world. Well, it would for about the first three or four times before the Americans gave in and pulled out the stops.

It bothers me that I would support this plan anyways.

Nothing will ever replace war. Fighting is the final primal resort something can escelate to. Furthermore, conquest and expansion is the way advancement is made. It has carried us until this point.

A coward never achieved anything.

True - this is why I'm not sure people who are dead-cert we should all destroy our nukes have properly thought things through.
Yes, but I'd still rather not have them laying around.

They worry me.
Right now, the bodies of people that own nukes are governments, and terrorists. IF the government gets rid of their nukes, who still has the nukes?

reasonable discussion. But with the amount of unreasonable people in the world that won't happen for a while.

or play each other at Mortal Combat. at least that would be a slight bit funny

So we're agreeing?
No, that's why I wrote something different to what you did.

So with or without peace there will be paranoia. But with nukes there is reason to be paranoid. Get rid of the nukes and we could have a shot at real peace if the media didn't freak out everytime something insignificant happened.

A really large game of chess.

Imagine it, a room of say.. 100,000 people, each matched up against an enemy to battle with.

whoever wins the chess match wins partially for their country. Whichever country wins more matches wins the war.
