I always thought HP potions were just flasks of magical blood. You know to replace the blood you just lost when you got stabbed through the gut? And it might have some spare intestines in it as well....

They taste like crack or at least that would explain why my characters are so addicted to them.

Depends on what setting we have. In most cases I would guess it tastes like medicine. Though, considering the amount of it the characters willingly consume, I would guess that while it probably doesn't taste good it doesn't make you want to get rid of your mouth.

Though if we go the the 'Tales of' universe though, it has been specifically stated that the gels (in universe version of potions) are flavored to appeal to children and characters would eat them as snacks (and be scolded by the rest of the party for unnecessary use of items).

Health potions probably taste like cough syrup. It is basically medicine, so that's what I assume it would taste like. I've been playing more Oblivion recently and the amount of mana you start out with is determined by your intelligence stat, so I imagine it would taste like science textbooks, and cause you to enter a drug trip where you study for (perceived) hours, before exiting and realizing that you could cast more spells.

health potions? take a bottle of ibuprofen and put it in the blender with some water. if your lucky, the better health potions might have a hint of pepto bismol; unless you dont like pepto bismol, in which case its even worse. either way, a pretty rancid restorative.

mana potions taste like cheap wine... or really good wine, its all sour grapes to me. id imagine mana potions to be akin to drugs in composition, as drug labs and fantasy alchemy follow pretty similar guidelines, so theyre probably addictive...in addition to probably being alcoholic. i think maybe mana potions are more trouble than theyre worth...

...or you could always buy those online drinks for a more optimistic interpretation.

Horribly. Otherwise they would be served in bars as a refreshment drink, right?

They're medicinal drinks. They either taste horribly or have no taste at all (i.e. water).
Water Does have a taste but yea following tradition of water giving you mana in alot of games Id say mana is water
but health potions would be like medicince

Health potions taste like blood and souls, pure life energy, screming through your throat as it knits your devastated flesh together.

Mana potions taste like Blueberries.

I guess health potions have a herbal/natural taste, kind of like drinking some green tea.

Mana potions on the other hand, they probably have a really artificial and/or synthetic taste.

They probably taste like Red Bull or something.

Powerade mostly, with a weird sensation and a good bit thicker.
Probably. It would have to taste at least decent or chugging it like I do in some games would be tough.

Health potions restore the body's wellbeing so it would either taste medicinal or like soup or something.

Mana restores balance of the mind and soul so I'd say some kind of tea-like herby mixture.

Health potions taste like an Matcha Monsoon with the blue berries replaced with strawberries (not good) and the mana potions taste like Buckley's.
