I have a bit of problems with my connection sometimes, but I think that's MY connection not XBL.

I didn't bother ringing anyone up when my Xbox broke, I found it really easy using the website. (They even have a box to tick on the repair request that says "3 red lights were flashing" OWTTE)

Over all I don't mind.

I expect to be able to cancel a live gold subscription online in the same way that you can subscribe. It's a bit scummy of Microsoft to rely on people's stupidity and laziness to keep them subscribed to something they don't use.
Pretty much the only reason I still have it.

And people have every right to complain about the service going down unexpectedly, if I'm paying for something, then I want to be able to use it when I want to, it's not a question of having to go do something else, I do that 99% of the time anyway, but if I wanna play now, I don't want to find that the service is down.

The last time I remember it being down was for NXE ? even then that was understandable and I've never had any problems other than RROD =/

Generally speaking i find them fairly good, but i dislike having to mail my xbox to them for RRoD - something that shouldn't occur in the first place.

I don't see why i can't take it to a retailer, and have Microsoft take it from there. I get really scared mailing something worth over $300.

I dunno. I mean, they extended the warranty for RROD and in my experience XBL is pretty damn stable, so I dunno what they expect.
Exactly my point. I've never had a problem, when I did get RROD [1 week before the shop guarantee ran out, lucky much?] I got it switched no questions asked.
But so many people seem to moan about how it should be better.
You are the exception that disproves the rule. My 2nd 360 RROD a couple of months ago, outside it's warranty period. My first 1 never had a fault (wish I never traded it for a WII). Unfortunately, I don't have a the spare change lying around to just buy another console. Drop the price by another $150 and maybe. And don't get me started on the wrought that is game pricing, $119 GTFO here.

http://venturebeat.com/2008/09/05/xbox-360-defects-an-inside-history-of-microsofts-video-game-console-woes/

Key points to note:

- In 2006 the PS2 outsold the 360
- By 2007, Microsoft was still manufacturing consoles with 60% (60/100) failure rates.

The next generation of consoles is going to be an interesting fight. Fanboyism alone won't get Microsoft across the line. Sometimes it's better to get the product right than churn out shit just to beat a competitor to the market. Microsoft's just lucky that Sony dropped the ball this time around.
i just hate it that Microsoft has lunched a invasion to the living room because he has almoste a monopoly in the PC world

Now I don't own a XBox but here's what I have to say about it. Microsoft has been sucking a** for so many years. As Mac has been the dominant species of computers. When Mac came out with their home computers they sucked. But Mac decided to stop what they're doing and start over. Then they put time and effort to make a computer. As Microsoft is making windows and other crap they don't put any time and effort to give great quality. That is until the Xbox. They XBox is the only product that Microsoft put enough time and effort to make it the top of it's class. Then they put more time and effort into the 360. But they didn't put enough time and effort. XBox still needs a little tweaking. The RROD needs to be fixed. The running parts need to be smoother. Also anything else that you guys say that needs to be fixed. But I think the RROD is the biggest problem of it all. That the biggest problem with it. It's the most notorious thing to come to VGSs! pffffffffff but what do I know I'm only a Nintendo fanboy that's all >_>

Yes, damn them with their user-friendly machinery. They should be stoned and burnt.

I've had nothing but good service from Microsoft, I couldn't get my first 360 repaired because I'd brought it second hand and it died a month after the warranty I'd brought it with had expired, but other than that it's been fine :)

My X-Box 360 broke trying to play Fable 2, so I ended up just using it as a door stop with Fable 2 still in it.

I'd expect Microsoft to try harder to monopolize the market. Hell I'd expect them to make an attempt at world domination. I'd expect that, but really they seem content just having people pay for X-Box live.

Ahhhh... I'd also expect a cash deduction on my X-Box live bill, accounting for the down time. You know, like when an MMO is down they give players some free days a lot of the time and what have you.

I did some digging just now once I heard about the StripclubDJ story and heard about how many players have gotten away with cheating and I do wish they would clamp down on that. But I am not goig to scream bloody murder.
links to story?

I googled but got nothing.
I don't think there was an official announcement. Just a collection of articles on various Xbox forums where people have discussed it and with some partial explanations of what caused his ban.

Just Google StripclubDJ banned or Xbox and look at the first few links and pop up and you will get an idea.

It left me wonder who the highest legitimate Xbox Live user with Gamerpoints is, since it seems most at the top have cheated.
so basically he's cheating so he can brag he's got more nothing than anyone else.

wow.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I had my xbox rrod about 6 months ago and they replaced it free and gave me a free month of xbox live even tho Im sure its outside of the warrenty considering I got it a few months after the launch, altho if I used xbox live past that one month card I got I would demand pretty good service and no down time since it was something I was paying for unlike steam which seems to go down all the time but I dont really mind since its free and I have other games

A console that I'm not afraid to use on the off chance it might melt or explode. Also, some actual fucking HELP when one of their hurried creations actually does go tits-up.

I expect the damn thing to do what I've paid for it to do. Mind you, if the server is down because Microsoft are fixing it, I have absolutely no problem with that.

My problem is that I've paid for a Live subscription and a wireless networking adapter, as well as having to fork for a router so that I can play online in my bedroom and it always boots me out of games and randomly disconnects me from Live whenever it feels like it, which is all the bloody time! Stupid thing...

They refuse to refund refurbish or replace my red ring of death Xbox, I'm not re buying an Xbox, why would I? If it happens again I'll be just as fucked.
What the hell? Either the warranty expired, despite the extension, which means you had a very good run (three years is no mean feat :D), or you or someone else tampered with it in some way, like adding a mod chip or something. Every time I've heard someone had the RRoD, it was replaced or fixed within a few weeks for free or a small charge for those that fell outside the warranty period. I had the RRoD myself before Easter, phoned up, got the whole thing sorted in about ten minutes on the phone. Free call too. Then, they said it would take about three weeks to sort out. Time between shipping the Xbox to Berlin for repairs and return to my home in the UK? Two weeks. A third less than the time they'd expected. And it turns out it couldn't be repaired in time, so they replaced it instead, along with a free month's subscription to XBL Gold membership, and all warranty and paperwork and stuff filled in for me so I didn't have to waste my own time doing it. By the way, I had a good run with it too, the Xbox had lasted two and a half years until that point.

I've never had anything but good customer service from Microsoft. There's the RRoD tale I just mentioned, I never had a problem with XP when I used it before (the PC did have problems itself, but these were later found to be hardware problems, so blame Intel for those). I've used Vista for a year, almost, and never had any problems there. I've always been a Microsoft customer, and every piece of hardware, every piece of software, everything I've ever had to do with them, has been completely fine and worked perfectly. Apart from the RRoD, of course, but that's just standard anyway. Hence all I expect from Microsoft is that they continue the level of support and customer service that I've recieved from them myself. So far, I haven't been disappointed.

Tards will moan about how the Xbox and Xbox 360 shouldn't have any problems under any circumstances, and how Microsoft should pay them to have them fixed if they ever arise. They won't realize that they cause most of the problems. What did you expect to happen when you turned the thing from lying flat to standing on its side while it was reading a disc?

Xbox owners with a more significant number of brain cells will realize that there aren't actually that many problems with the consoles. Sure, the RROD is a big issue, but that's the only real problem with the 360 I can think of that isn't user error. Also, if you send your box in for service and you are an Xbox Live client, the months that you miss will be refunded to you, so they're not really stealing your money.

Honestly, the only thing I'd like Microsoft to do is find a way to fix the RROD, but even if they can't, it doesn't happen nearly as often as haters crack it up to.
